Description
Been using this second number app for about a month now, and it’s pretty handy if you need an extra phone line without getting another phone. It’s basically like having a second SIM card, but it’s all done through the app. You can make calls, send texts, and even pick numbers from different countries – pretty cool for keeping your real number private.
So here’s how it works: you sign up, pick a number (they’ve got tons from the US, UK, and other places), and you’re good to go. And you can use it over WiFi or data, which is nice when you’re traveling or don’t want to deal with carrier plans. There’s also this feature where you can have multiple numbers at once – super useful if you’re running a small business or just want separate numbers for different stuff.
Look, if you’re someone who needs to keep work and personal life separate, or you’re just not comfortable giving out your real number to everyone, this is worth checking out. It’s not perfect – you’ll need decent internet connection for it to work well, and some features are locked behind a subscription. But honestly? It does what it promises, and it’s way easier than carrying two phones around.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take after testing a bunch of second number apps. Dingtone's pretty solid overall, and I'd say it's one of the better options out there. The call quality's usually good (as long as your internet isn't acting up), and the interface isn't confusing like some other apps I've tried. Not gonna lie though - the free version's a bit limited, and you'll probably need to subscribe to really get the most out of it. Been using it for both personal stuff and my blog contacts, and it's been reliable enough. Just keep in mind you're depending on internet connection, so it's not exactly the same as having a regular phone line.
