Securus is horrible. The video visitation has messed up, 3 times. The fees are too high. The calls are $4 per call. The mins and the balance doesnt add up. I have tried to call them and you cant get anything but an automated message. If you have issues you cant seem to get any help. I have sent multiple emails, and still no response. If there was another way I could talk to my loved one, I would choose that option hands down. All the money that goes into this company, it should be way better!!

Please try again later." I've restarted my device, cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the app.. nothing is working. I can't even use it anymore, and it's only been a week. It's a bit disappointing and frustrating.
Won't even open. "Error: something went wrong. Try again later." Just downloaded it. Ridiculous. My 1 star rating goes for Google Play store as well on this one. Why let me download an app that doesn't work? If their Janky app isn't going to work on my device take it out of your store. If a real store is selling a product that gets returned Everytime someone buys it, they're not making money it's a waste of shelf space and makes the store look bad. They take it off the shelves.
I am not able to accept phone calls anymore. The call comes and I hit "1." The robot keeps going through the menu and not acknowledging ANY numbers I press. This has been going on for almost a week. When I call Securus, they keep trying to say it is a privacy setting on my phone. It's not. Everything has been fine since last Monday. Videos are also ALWAYS delayed. I pay for 20 minutes and it never connects until at least two minutes has passed. This is all very frustrating with zero support.
It rarely works. Either I can sign in & get told "this person doesn't have this feature" when they do, or the app won't even open. I've cleared cache, I've uninstalled/reinstalled, I've tried opening from my apps & the playstore. Nothing helps. It crashes on the inmate's end as well. Also you only get 160 characters per text which are 10cents per text. Adds up FAST! 160 characters is nothing! This review is 429 characters...
It's convenient when you out and about. So you can go ahead and read messages or what not. But when you login and try to click on a icon, it will not open up. Kept clicking launch messaging. Had to exit out, and log back in for it to open. Also don't like how if you want to add a photo to a message, that's another stamp. And you can't just send the photo, has to be with a message. So I would say, make sure your message is long.
Cannot make any type of payment. Email support no answer, call get a run around no one returns calls. I'm tired of paying the outrageous moneygram fees to add funds. Every little detail they have told me to fix I have. Contacted my cc company, and securus declined payment without attempting to charge the card, and this is the user's fault. I don't think so. If I could give 0 stars I would.
The text feature sucks. Most of the app functions as it always has, not the best but it's ok. However, the text feature has become a nightmare, especially for editing something I've typed. It is difficult to open the conversation I want, then editing is absolutely impossible. I can't get the cursor where I want to edit, or even copy and paste the text into a user friendly app. I've begun composing in a separate app and pasting it into securus.
Unfortunately more often than not it only makes it harder for me to talk to my loved one. They call me but my phone doesnt ring goes straight to voicemail. I have problems signing in. I have issues with staying connected during phone calls. Sometimes the call goes thru but we can't hear each other. The list of problems with this app goes on and on. Obviously the makers of the app don't care cause it only getting worse and harder to use with time!!
terrible. for the amount of money this company is making the least they could do is make a functioning app. you can be in the middle of a conversation and get booted and have to log back in. messages are either super quick to send/receive or take forever and only get about 80% of notifications. oh and each text costs 10 connects so if you purchase the max of 4000, you're only truly getting 400 texts. the only upside is that I can talk to my fiance even if it's on this terrible app.
ever since the recent update I can't put money on the debit and keep getting error messages when trying to send. before this I had no issues with the app my only complaint is why the card details are only saved when buying stamps but not when funding the person debit. it's tedious to have to put in the card details everytime. and doesn't make sense why it saves for one but not the other.
The video connect app is horrible. When you press to join the call, it constantly kicks you out, but the timer is still going. My service is great, and so is my connection, but the app kicks me out. It's very frustrating when you only get 20 minutes, and when it finally allows you to join, the majority of your minutes are gone. Out of the 20-minute call, we had 9 minutes to video chat once it stopped repeatedly kicking me out. It should be free, because why pay for something that doesn't work.
sometimes it's good sometimes it's not. I have had trouble connecting stating there are issues with the system on the remote video calls or it hung up on us in the middle of our visit. cannot get refunded for that. he states (& per attempts it shows) he calls & it doesn't come through, yet i get calls sometimes or it too will hang up in the middle of our conversation & tell both of that the other disconnected. it's hard to hear & sometimes there's a lot of back feed sometimes it's perfect so 3!
Service is horrible phones are constantly hanging up or going silent on either end while customers are still being charged. Company is constantly having issues. Prices being charged doesn't match the prices your supposed to be paying. I've called customer care 10x from 2 different numbers and cannot get a hold of someone. I will be on the phone with a LO and it constantly goes silent on both ends but I'm still being charged that time. 8/18/25: App is getting worse and crashing more.
Poor, poor quality app. It's always popping up with error messages and technical difficulties. It only allows one phone call every 15 minutes so if for some reason, we get disconnected, my loved one has to call back since we can't return the call for another 15 minutes. Then it kicks me out when I try to connect with my loved one. I log back in, hit connect, and it kicks me out again. Get it together, Securus.
worst app on my phone, but a necessity because it's the only way in my context to communicate. I serve as a chaplain at the jail, and I use the app a lot to communicate with inmates. this app is very unreliable. sometimes it works out ok, but I gave it 1 star because of how often it just shuts down, sound doesn't work on video chat, camera might not work, and it is not very user friendly. I wish there was an alternative.
Why can't a government funded company manage to create a simple messaging app that's at least as good as the WORST privately funded app. It crashes often, sometimes deletng complete messages. There's no "sent date", but the worst is that I often can't see ANY text below the keyboard when it's up, so can't see what I'm typing! And why can't the app stay open or at least logged in, when I have to pick up a call or use another app for a few minutes? Argghhh! Terrible app.
I've never had an app crash before. This app will crash three times before I finish typing out one message. Most of the time, the autosave draft feature doesn't work, so all I've written is deleted and I have to restart. It is so frequent that I've gotten in the habit of copying my message and pasting it to my notes so I have a copy before it crashes. On top of that, autocorrect hardly works.
Other facilities: DONT USE! Worst app! They don't care tho because you have no option but to use it if you wanna talk to your loved one. App crashes almost DAILY. Randomly says you're blocked when you're not. Calls break up constantly or person sounds underwater. You only get 160 characters per text which is NOTHING & at 10cents each it's VERY expensive. Plus the fees are insane/lie. Claims "just a $3 fee", then adds more fees at the end! WORST APP EVER! Do not get this app if you're a facility
So far? I am very disappointed. This has to be the hardest app I've used. Or should I say attempted to use! I cannot even get an account set up to use!! So frustrating! Hubby thinks I'm doing something wrong and just not trying and is livid. I have tried setting up a new account. Says my email/phone number already exist on an account. So I try to sign in using email and forgotten password. Get a technical error message or an error saying that there is no web browser located on device.
