Self serving. Not free. Didn't see that before now. Only a 7 day trial. Like our lives aren't too busy to go 3 wks before we get back to this. Automatically charges after trial. THAT'S how consumer protection minded they are. Plus, an annoying setup process with all kinds of questions you're not in the mood to answer. I can't even tell you if the app is any good, because they wore me out then wanted a credit card. Well, I'm in the rest room! I can't get to a card, even if I WASN'T annoyed.
Reviews for Seed Oil Scout: Healthy Dining
← Back to Seed Oil Scout: Healthy DiningPricing is outrageous, the most I'd ever pay is $5-10/yr, not $25 and right now there is very low usership even in big citys (I base this on how few reviews there are, even for green and verified locations). The concept is good but the price point is a clear choke out for people (see all the other reviews, I'm far from the only one...). Lowering the price will increase subscriber volume b/c as the quality of data on eatery locations improve, there will be increased interest in the app.
Same bad experience as others, few restaurants reviewed with all the reviews being user based (so not totally accurate 100% of the time). Also the pricing, I'd rather not pay for an app like this at the rate listed. MAYBE I'd pay $1 a month, but even then, the lists are short. Just sell ad space like everyone else, make the app free, and more people would probably use the app and expand the food maps for you.
Limiting features! Will change to 5 stars if corrected. I was planning on using it for the free trial period, but forgot to cancel. You got me. Fine. But I do go unsubscribe, so that a year from now I don't get charged next year. Here's the rub - I click on the list view, and the app tells me only for pro subscribers. What!? I literally just paid for a whole year, and your limiting features because I'm not convinced of a 2nd yr!?! So sick of shady, greedy businesses and practices.
At first I left a 3 star review. Because the UI was average not that good and the pricing was too pricey. I accidentally didn't turn off my free trial and was charged for the year instead of the month. When I emailed them requesting them to charge me for the month instead I got no reply. I have left 4 to 5 emails now and no reply. I was also extremely polite in my emails and I'm deserving of a response at the least. So extremely unprofessional.
I live in Denver, and have used this app on plenty of occasions to try and find a seed oil-free place to eat. Now, however, you can only look at like 3-5 places until you're hit with a "you've reached your limit" and have to pay for it... Maybe if the app has been around for longer and actually has an accurate reading of areas, but $6+/month is ridiculous for an unfinished app. Throw ads in it or something, unfortunate
This app demands you pay $5.99/mo to be able to actually see any restaurants info. I am interested in the concept, but the idea of putting the info behind a paywall (especially when the whole app is essentially dependent on users inputting the information) is baffling to me. Also, the cost seems steep, considering there are 3 green check marks within 20 min of my home, and (since you can't see the names of the place without paying $6/mo) if you zoom in, one appears to be someone's home!
It wouldn't let me exit out of their "upgrade to premium" screen even though there is an option to leave the page. I don't think it would've mattered since the only two things that you can do without paying extra is "Rating Search" and "Auto Mailer". Everything else, the verified reports, map markers, list view, and report details are all hidden behind a pay wall.
Like the idea but bad business model. I fell off just being presented with a free subscription. I couldn't even see the app beyond all the warmup info without committing to paying after the free trail ends. Honestly this data is hard to get and I expected very little. I just ran the other way once the commitment wall was presented. I also dislike a million "next" buttons to get the chase. I never read those. Oh well.
Another one of these bait and switch apps with an astronomical annual fee. They won't charge monthly. I promptly deleted it after they got me to install the app then wouldn't let me even try the app without getting into a "free trial" which automatically roles over into one year subscription if you forget to cancel it before then. No thanks. Find a better business model. Not many people respect this kind of nonsense any longer.
Overall not a bad concept. To be effective you would need a large user base. The charge to use this app is way too high. I live near a 2 million + metro area. There were hardly any restaurants that were reviewed. I attempted to send email to the restaurant and both emails got bounced back (not necessarily the apps fault as the restaurant website might have had incorrect information.) I could see maybe like $10/year. I canceled my subscription after using it for just a few days.
Great concept. Anyone who seriously tries to eat this way has probably wished for a map of safe places. For me though, the map wouldn't even really load. Also, I live near a major city, and only one restaurant appeared to have any data. I think the developers should consider a model that's free for users, but sells ad space to safe products (which they already seem to have a products tab for). Building a database is the real value here
Garbage app. Great concept. Subscription based vs ad based. It's not even that impressive. Just ask when you go somewhere. By the time this is a useful app there will be plenty of options you don't have to pay for. It's simple. More progressive boutique restaurants care. major chains don't. Sans some tallow fries. Done.
Very useful app. Most of its utility is in scanning barcodes to check for unhealthy ingredients. However, not many restaurants are listed. One issue I found with adding a new product is that when you are taking a picture of the ingredient list, if the barcode happens to be in the picture, it will start over the process of adding a new product.
Great premise, poor execution. I would have loved to use the app to plan vacations like it advertised, but you have to move the map manually rather than being able to search by city, making it fairly cumbersome to use. As was reported by other users, there are few restaurants listed. Give it a bit while the devs try to work out the bugs and list more places and try again in 6 months. And devs, for the love of all things holy, add an option to search by city when you aren't actually in the city!
Great concept and I was eager to download but unfortunately when they say it's a free app, it's free to download but pretty much everything else you need is locked behind a paywall. they offer you a year for $24.99. granted it's not much, but in today's world when everything is a subscription of some sort, it's too much. please consider allowing businesses to be displayed without constantly asking for a premium subscription.
The app charges $24 for the first year, no option for monthly, which is a little annoying. But that is $2 a month. I used it today and 90 percent of items at the grocery store scanned successfully. The restaurant finder helped us a lot today as well. I will be keeping the subscription after the free trial!
like the concept but execution is clunky. Also, I HATE that you have to sign up for a year long subscription to get a whopping 3 day free trial 🥳🙄. They say they will notify you before charging but didn't. Money I will never get back and overall not worth it. Do your own due diligence and it'll probably take the same amount of time and no money.
Wanted to try the "Free 7 -Day Trial" which says now "Free 3-Day Trial" which didn't work. Kept asking me to add a payment method repeatedly which didn't show up. Then I am getting messages that my "Free Trial" is about to expire and to cancel in Subscriptions if I no longer wish to continue. I have never been able to use this app. Does not appear in my Google Play Subscriptions to cancel. Android Phone. If I could give Zero Stars I would. Terrible Experience.
Lots of little bugs. Links to websites for restaurants don't work; the app just closes. Links to Google Maps don't work; again, the app just closes. Using the Android back function sometimes goes back to the previous thing/screen, and sometimes just closes the app. Interesting premise, though, with helpful information about the oils used at various restaurants.
