Reviews for Seed to Spoon - Garden Planner

← Back to Seed to Spoon - Garden Planner

Not a bad app, it gives an idea of when to plant and how, as well as common pests and how to control them which is a huge plus. However that is in the Garden plus which is a paid service. Tons of veg and specific types. Good to organize your thoughts if you are the visual type like me. As usual the best features are paid but only a die hard or profit based garden will really need all of those options though. Wish they would let me do a virtual layout of my beds.

This is probably one of the best apps for gardening you could have. I have downloaded (and paid) for so many apps, and although they may be fine, each one had features in the app that I would like. This is the first app that has just about all the features you could want. The sky is the limit for this app. Also don't worry, you don't have to spend your precious gardening time adding plant info into a database. It's already there. Hallelujah!!!!

I found this app about 1.5 years ago. When they started it, it was nice and easy. A bit too easy perhaps, with basic timing information and links to videos, but fairly easy for getting you notified and get going for basic gardening. Now, it is pay per month/year, but has tons of information on many plants. Unpaid, you can only see information for a few plants. Others are blurred out. Get it if you have the money to do so. Otherwise, there are likely local gardeners with blogs you can follow.

Excellent layout and info. They're working on expanding the plant database so I won't ding them for that. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is some of the info is pretty vague. For example, I was looking for watering info for my plants and sometimes it just says "moderate." As a new gardener I have no clue what moderate means - is it a gallon every other day? Is it wet the topsoil every day? I literally don't know. But! The layout is great, I love the combination of Info they do provide.

I love this app! Planting, transplanting, sprouting, and logging events like fertilizing iare all really useful to track. I will be contributing when there is a paid feature. My only suggestion as a user is to be able to add plants ourselves that are specific to our own gardens. I realize they may not have as much information from a database, and that's okay.

This app helped me plan out my entire garden for this year and gave me very insightful tips and ideas. I love the growbot as well, a very useful tool when seeking answers for questions you might have. Not only does it tell you when/how to grow your plants, but it also lists companion and enemy plants as well as probable pests, harvesting tips and even what dishes many people like to make with crops they grow. It made preparing/planning so much easier! Wish I could give it more stars!!!!

Best garden tracker I've ever used. I love that it had common plants saved, down to the variety and cultivar so you don't need to look up or store plant information separately. I love that you can track so many plant milestones, like sprouting, first harvest, and you can include images so it effectively works as a garden journal as well. I've been gardening for years and have never felt more organized but for beginners, they also have videos on basics.

I forgot to use it for a few days while sprouting my seeds. Then, when I wanted to log something, I remembered and set up my entire garden and I absolutely love it now. So easy to keep track of milestones like watering, foliar, fertilization, etc. Taking pics, keeping track of the best seeds, and overall garden care is so much fun. Absolutely great tool for hobby or commercial gardeners!

Like a lot of the features, able to add your own variety if not in the list. I like that it is specific to location and also gives additional info on pest problems and recipes, though i have yet to use them. I wish it had a better way to track location or garden lay out to track and rotate my crops and the sow, fertilize, harvest dates in calendar format with reminders would be great.

Great app right up to where it forgets all of your data, and your gardens, and that you paid your subscription. I lost all of my information for this year's gardens, hoping their support team can restore it. I was really enjoying the app until this mishap! Update, the support team was able to get everything fixed within a couple of hours! Yay!

I am liking your app so far! I would love to be able to set planting dates for next year but it is not yet available (1 yr + ahead). It would also be nice to have a daily checklist that pulls up today's notes for a to do list. (I would love to give 5 stars for this!) It would be great to have a Calendar weekly(veg pics & seed hvst symbol & notes), monthly (seeding & hvst symbols) and yearly frost dates cool & warm seeding/ hvst symbols. This could be an easy access point for plans and notes.

I'm used to keeping my garden journal Ina notebook. Unfortunately, I'm forgetful and have ended up losing/damaging/giving-up-on those. Now that I'm using this app to keep track of things on my phone, I've been able to grow my garden by leaps and bounds. Tons of useful info in an intuitive format. I'll be sad when it goes to paid Garden+, but I'll probably get that feature too.

I decided to give container gardening a go this year. I started doing research in February and soon felt overwhelmed. Then, I found this app. It breaks down all of the information by plant. It tells you when and where to plant, how to care for the plant, its friends, it's enemies, and which critters are beneficial or harmful. You can add notes and photos in Garden+. You can even track the weather in the app. It's been an awesome resource.

I'm not one to rate apps usually, but I adore this! It is clear that the folks running the app have put a lot of love into it, and it shows! The info provided is great, and I love being able to track my plants. The only thing I wish could be added is garden planning - i.e., graphic plant placement, perhaps with warnings if you are placing plants too close together, or beside "enemy" plants, as described in the "friendly plants" tab. Otherwise, this app is perfect. Thank you so much!!!

Very pretty app with lots of great information and super easy to use. The first and most important thing I am missing in this app is a way to search by Garden Location (within the garden plant...it'd be nice to have a drop-down list of locations). I have 75 raised beds and would like to see a list of events by bed so that I can keep up with rotation of plants. Other than that, it looks very good!

It's really great, I just started using Garden+. There are a few things I would add (a few plants, I am growing orchid, caraway, and Cuban oregano and they aren't on the list). Notifications for missed waterings that don't get logged would be great. It can be hard to make sure everything gets watered. A garden layout to check to see if "enemies" are planted too closely would be great too.

The app is wonderful for small and/or beginning gardeners. This will be my last year using this app. As I transition into establishing the business it doesn't work for me anymore as a lot of the functions aren't suited for large or long-term storage. I can't download archived data, I can't look at weather records, it doesn't have a website for storage or ease of access at home, and it doesn't allow you to add types of vegetables or herbs (such as exotics).

I like to have all the estimated harvest dates, but it would be cool to see the dates of the whole garden on a calendar. Also, it would be awesome to have estimated harvest dates adjusted according to weather changes. All the main information needed to thrive is in the app so thumbs up! Sadly some of the store bought seed varieties don't appear in the list and the variety doesn't seem to impact the harvest dates either.

coming into vegetable gardening and wanting to be successful can be intimidating. I really feel like this app helps to set up the beginner gardener for success. The only additional thing I would love to see (again as a beginner) is calendar pop-up reminders from the app when to fertilize, water, prune, or any other idiosyncrasies different types of plants may need.

It's all right. There's a lot of information, but it doesn't seem to be managed well, since the app is so slow. It's frustrating to use on my phone because the slowness causes unnecessary errors and forces me to redo things that shouldn't need to be redone. It has most generic grocery store food, but most of the foods that naturally grow in my region are not listed. For example, edible succulents. But mostly it's just too slow/buggy for me.
