The app works really great and is easy to use. For Pete's sake, though, where is the dark theme? It's super bright, and in this day and age, it should definitely be an option by now. Also, it has reminders in the app for maintenance. It would be nice if they gave you the option for custom duration, rather than being stuck with month(s) only selection.
Reviews for Sensi
← Back to SensiOverall this is a decent thermostat. However it has one major flaw, the temperature difference between when the temperature kicks off and then turns back on again to maintain a constant temperature is way too small. It is less than 1°. The heater it runs is constantly kicking off and on. There is a setting for a wider temperature range but it appears to do nothing. There is a remote temperature sensor available, but I'm not sure it would solve any problems.
I really love this app to go with my thermostat. Lately, however, it seems to say it's offline when it isn't (I check through my router & on the device itself) or I will change a setting & it goes right back to what it was before. My phone has been alerting me to the app having high crashes as well. I hope that is fixed soon. As someone with a disability a smart therm is super helpful. Once bugs are fixed 5 stars for sure.
So far so good. Had C wire but wasn't hooked up on furnace board. Fired right up after I plugged in the wire. Had me scratching my head for a bit when it wouldn't light up. Looks good. Still getting used to the app though. Updated It still seems great. There are a few things I wish it had. Something like the nest where you can add sensors for better accuracy. 8/25/24 The whole system went down and now it refuses to connect to wifi.
While the app is useful, I find that it isn't intuitive to change from one programmed schedule to another. You have to click Schedule, then Edit Schedules, then either Heat, Cool, or Auto. Then it finally gives you a list of your schedules within that type. That's annoying. I'm not editing the schedule, I'm just selecting a different one. That should be an option directly from the main UI screen. I've used this for years and that's still my biggest gripe.
this thermostat runs all the time, even when the temperature is not hot, since my apartment complex put this in, my electric bil increase almost 80%. I'm constantly turning this thig off, because it turns on even when the temperature is cool. It has actually changed the temperature I set, to a lower setting, as if I don't know what I set it on. It has a mind of it's own, also it cool in my apartment right now but it started running anyway, I go to my app to change it, it says no connection
It quite literally never worked. It always disconnected. I spent the first month constantly having to connect it back up to my wifi, when I felt it was finally "consistent" not disconnecting; it never actually communicated with the thermostat. I would change it in the app and it would never show the change on the thermostat but was connected. I've finally deleted it because there is no reason to have it. simply does not work.
The app is always saying that the thermostat is offline but the device has a wifi icon. The app drops offline most commonly when the unit is running and you log into the app simultaneously. Sometimes it comes back online after it shuts off but that's very rare. I really wish the app was better bc the proof of concept is great.
Reconnect to wifi is not working even after spending several hours trying to connect. Horrible UI (user interface). When connected, it's OK, but changing wifi network is near impossible. Tried every step shown, even the erroneous ones. Having to switch back and forth between internet (to confirm the password repeatedly) and the sensi network for setup is an unnecessary nuisance.
UPDATE 6/24/25... With the improvements from updates, I give it a solid 4 stas now. 6/13/24... It works maybe 40% of the time. I'll "adjust" the temperature and then find out later on that the air has not adjusted. "Thermostat Offline" error code constantly pops up even though my wifi is working. It is user-friendly. However, what good is that when it doesn't work. Very frustrating! 😡
This thermostat has some of the WORST programming. If you have a set schedule, but change the temperature 'temporarily' as it says... It will stay at the temperature (regardless of schedule) for 2 hours minimum on HOLD not TEMPORARY.... there are a ton of other things bad about the programming too like the overcooling feature not being customizable as well. very ineffective compared to the previous Smart Thermostat I had, which was rather basic with no Wi-Fi. My electric bill went up 30% also.
3 years in, app asks you to change password, won't let you, won't let you update password, won't let you click on forgot password, worst app I have seen. Poor customer service-no help on email or calling help. Crummy company. If you can't log in, can't control the 5 thermostats i own. Follow up. For some reason after a couple of days, it let you click on forgot password and it worked. I had already cleared the cache and that didn't help in the beginning. No help.
I'll give a 3 star because some odd reason the thermostat keeps disconnecting. When I try to re-establish the connection, it will not. Factory reset, restarting the router, and uninstalling and installing. It gives me trouble. When I did have it connected, the signal was good. it's not far from the router either.
If you ever lose your wi-fi connection good luck getting it back!! The procedure is horrible, confusing and doesn't work most times! Why is it so difficult to reestablish a connection especially since it says it's connected?? I would definitely go with a different brand if I had to choose a wi-fi thermostat again! Contact support... HOW?? How bout make it easier?? I'll help you... Don't do ANY of the steps to reconnect! Restart your router so you don't mess up settings that still won't work!
The thermostat works fine once set up, but the process was not real simple. During setup the app required a credit card and I even saw a rejected $2 charge on my Visa, which was supposed to be free. Finding features like temp limits and lockout controls wasn’t intuitive—I had to ask for help. Once configured it runs well, but setup should be clearer and more transparent
The app constantly says Thermostat offline, even though it's connected. I have uninstalled the app, cleared cache and data, factory reset the thermostat. Sometimes that all help for a day or two but always comes back. If it's unreliable like that and I can't change it when I'm away, it defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place.
I've used this 3 years. It worked fine until recently. It wouldn't connect to my wi-fi anymore. (No wifi changes) Showed "change battery" & "reconnect" errors. I changed batteries, & errors remained. I uninstall/ reinstalled the program 3 times!! After the 3rd time, I progressed through the connect to wi-fi pages far enough to see that there is NO SECURITY for my thermostat when using wifi. The app works now, but I'm wondering if it's worth it w/o added security.
I just installed the Smart Touch ST75S. I found it very easy to mount, connect the wires, and power on! I thought it was a little strange that it only connects to 2.4GHz. Everything in my home is connected to 5GHz. It's a good thing that my router has both 2.4 and 5GHz. I gave it 4 stars for this reason! The overall setup is straightforward, and you must know what type of system you have. I have a one stage heat pump that required me to go into the "Advanced Set up" make the proper settings!
The device itself and the app are great. But, although the physical installation instructions were concise and easy to follow, the wifi setup with an Android at least, was a nightmare. I tried contacting tech support to no avail. Finally, I was able to resolve the install on my own (I do IT, but it still was difficult). It required several settings changes on my phone, which should have been clarified before step #1. Do the people who write these terrible guides ever actually try to use them??
The app has occasional instability and login issues. When login issues occur, it shows an error that says "Check your internet". However, switching to mobile data or another network doesn't fix the issue. I can only login once I've cleared the cache and open the app while on mobile data. Other than that, it's a good app with an intuitive interface. I loved the installation instructions and videos. It cleared up any confusion I had when installing my thermostat.
