Awesome app... when it works... form of payment tends to get finicky and makes the app unreliable. What's ironic is that once I decide to go ahead and use my card (I can't wait all day for the three floating dots to show my form of payment) I end up paying with my card and then the display reads: "Join Fuel Rewards and 5 cents per gallon!"...HA!
Reviews for Shell: Fuel, Charge & More
← Back to Shell: Fuel, Charge & MoreNot Shell Credit card - sent secure email to shell (Citi) and their exact verbiage, "Although we do not have an App, our site is designed so the information available is the same no matter what device you use to access your account. The only difference may be the location. For example, the menu items across the top on a desktop will collapse to the left on a mobile device. We would like to let you know about the I WANT TO drop down from the main Navigation Bar located at the top of most screen"
Big time waster, which would be good if this was a game, but sadly it is not. The app is excruciating slow when you're standing by a pump waiting to be able to pump gas; and that's when it works. Seems like a about a third of the stations I visit won't work with the app, wasting more of my time firing up the app and waiting to learn that I have to pay normally anyway. Good idea, poor execution.
Would be nice if the app worked. For the past 2 wks I haven't been able to pay through the app. Had to walk inside the store, stand in line, and have issues at the register trying to get my rewards attached to the order. Password reset is not working either. Links aren't coming via email now I'm locked out my account for an hour. Looks like we need an update. I miss paying through the app. I don't have these issues with Mobile Gas App.
Horrible phone support. Expect to be put on hold for 5 to 7 minutes when they're busy. You may get bounced around to three different agents, none of whom will help you when you need support the most, they'll just pass you on to someone else who will put you on hold for another 5 to 7 minutes. After speaking to Alejandro, I learned that I had been using the wrong app, this one! The correct app is called Shell Recharge and has a plug logo next to the Shell logo!
When this was separate from the Fuel Rewards app, I rarely had issues with the "pay outside" feature. Since the integration, the payment feature has increasingly become unreliable, and the last 4 times it fails after I authenticate Samsung Pay. Please focus on the many bugs in both spps. Also, it would be great if you could insert a confirmation prompt that you want to use your rewards on this fill like the pumps. Sometimes I am waiting on a bigger discount to post but I need a few gallons now.
Pay button doesn't work in the app. Good Luck trying to contact anyone if you don't use their credit card. Just another company dumping they problems off onto 3rd parties, in this case "Fuel Rewards". Same problems there though. I've even tried to email both parties to no avail. Though the discounts are great when I do finally get them, the gas is always on the higher end, so really just a huge waste of time for 50 cents. Time is worth much more.
App no longer works to pay at pump. Last week, it would recognize my location, but the payment feature would time out. This week, my payment information is no longer in the app and it times out when I try to add a payment card. I also cannot access my receipts. The app last worked correctly for me on 10/7/2023. Have uninstalled and reinstalled app. If it works correctly for longer than 2 months, I will adjust my review. Well, one month after reinstalling, and the app again does not work.
When the app works it is great. However, it has become so glitchy that it is now basically useless. I loved the convenience of the app. But, there is no excuse for it saying no internet connection when I have a strong connection. Further, it has reached the point where I need to uninstalled and reinstall the app every three months since it likes to forget my payment method and can't show my receipts. As soon as it is reinstalled it remembers everything. Not worth the aggravation.
You can trust on it to fail most of the time. We end up wasting time at the gas station waiting for the app to load and when we get to the final stages of completing a transaction it fails stating that there's a technical error. Hope Shell is able to give this app a proper and decent upgrade, because this app is what drives most customers to Shell sometimes!
How can one of the worlds biggest companies develop such a terrible app? It's 50/50 on whether or not it will actually work. When the app actually works it is ok, but that is rare. Any time I click "Pay and Save" it will ask to create an account, but it shows my name on the top of the app as if I'm already logged in! I've seen more relaible apps made for toddlers. If you oil companies don't step your game in the next few years I can see many people happily switching to electric vehicles.
If you don't mind jumping through hoops for PENNIES saved (because you don't shop at convenience stores as the prices are more outrageous than other outrageously priced locations), then this is the app for you. Oh, and when their system has a glitch/error and it's not repaired before the end of the day to get a few more of those pennies saved with another company, well, bummer to you. You'll just have to find another way to stay in good/gold standing within your limited timeframe for fill-ups.
I've been using Shell faithfully and not getting rewards per fill-up. The more you fill the more you save. I will up 3 to 4 times a week with the work I do. I looked and the APP has my number I typed in as alternative ID, but zero receipts. 98% I have them printed out. It's bothersome that it's not here so I don't get credit for being a Loyal member.
i hate that the shell recharge app is no longer active and I'm forced to use this app to find charging stations. the best thing about the recharge app was that I was able to save my favorite stations &it was easy to check a list of what was available. this app doesn't have that feature. I hope they fix that. also, not app related, but many of the charging stations that I frequent always have had 1 or more faulted/ offline broken stations for over a year. don't think they'll ever be fixed.
tried to redeem fuel rewards in store, said use the app, I installed this... &it insists that my credit/debit card is invalid. I just had the refund issued to the same card. I'm done with shell. the multiple apps shell uses steal my rewards, miss my fuel ups, & lie. they promise rewards, send links to click & store for later, emails to remind me, then no freaking station will accept them! I used to just fill anyway. I'm not doing that anymore. I'll go somewhere that doesn't make fake promises.
it doesn't show the map, just dots where the chargers are relative to each other with the ability to zoom. no frame of reference. no sattelite view, no view at all. although i DID get it to charge the car. AND it was FREE. ONly other bone to pick (aside from completly failing to make the map easy to read, it should start the charge limit at $1.50 and go up to maybe $10. instead, it assumes your car takes as much as 13 tesla cybertrucks and starts at $15 going up to something crazy like $100.
I'm giving this app a one. there's no way to get help at the charging stations . I've had multiple issues where the stations do not charge are unavailable are blocked and nowhere are nothing I can do. I've tried calling the number on the stations and there's usually a long whole time without a conclusion. Volta was so much better on its own. I'm very upset after the shell changes.
At first it's not obvious the app has two main modes: fuel or recharge. If you go directly to the stations map, you will not see fuel stations if the app is in the 'recharge mode'. There is a switch to choose the modes in the home screen, upper right corner. It has a tiny fuel filler tube graphic on it when in the 'fuel' mode. The user should also be able to choose the currently desired mode in the settings. Super bonus would be the ability to switch modes while viewing the map!
Doesn't even work about half the time. It will let me fill up using the app but then it doesn't give me credit for about half of the full-ups, including premium fill-ups which are supposed to count as 2... Even when I spend $70 on a fill-up. The past three times I have filled up using the app, it didn't give me credit for it. I never spend less than $30 on a fill up either, so it should be counting them, but it doesn't. I go back into the app after filling up and it just says "ready to fill up".
Doesn't work for Shell, formerly Volta, stations. It says they are occupied. Chargepoint correctly shows them available. Too bad I didn't realize this until I had to leave without getting any charge on what was a free station which used to be plug and play under Volta. They also don't recognize + in email which I use for filtering. Absolute garbage.
