Difficult to get work close to your area. No employee support. All issues are submitted through a automated chat and confirmarion email with absolutely no resolution or responses about tickets submitted. often not paid for work completed, including "training" other people (they assign you people who are supposed to shadow you for 1 shift. No option to be assigned to a store, no matter how many times the store manager and district manager emailed them. Way too much work for the time and pay.

However, the shifts are hard to claim and there isn't an option to switch from company to company straight inside the app. It only offers shifts that are too far away to drive for the rate of pay, with no way to adjust the driving range. There is no clear communication when a shift is dropped and you are no longer needed, it just disappears off your schedule with no warning what so ever.
I started off with shiftsmart on a positive note. I've been working shifts about 3 weeks and it's been good until today. shiftsmart states that a "mobile back up" shift gets paid a dollar amount if they do not work, and a little higher dollar amount. I've been getting shifts over 30 miles from. my home and use public transportation,but the main requirement for "mobile back up" is having a vehicle at the ready in case you need to go provide coverage at a specified location. Absolute scam. Do not get fully paid for time worked. No support from the company. Employees randomly adjust items on your account which cause a negative impact to ratings. You can put in as many tickets for assistance that you want. You will get no response. When the app fails... good luck. Bonuses have disappeared. You get promised extra to run orientation but get nothing. Shiftsmart employees lie and say they paid out to your account but they do not. So many issues.
If I could give your company zero stars I would! False advertisement. As I was completing the profile setup it said I had a shift right away that starts in 30 mins, after I completed the profile setup, it disappeared. There was no actual shift they manipulated me into making an account. I wouldn't trust this app. I've also heard other people are not getting paid, that's illegal!!
The jobs are fine and it's alright money for the amount of work you do (especially if you have a car to get around) but, the bulk of what takes up your time is the amount of pictures you have to take for the stocking jobs. 95% of the time, Barcodes don't scan the first, second or third time. Ditto for the photos. It's faster and easier for you to leave the app and take photos with your camera and use those than to take photos in the app. Unless these two problems get fixed, soon, 2 stars.
No human contact or troubleshooting when issues arise. I'm stuck with their FAQs and a chat bot that doesn't understand complexities. The app says you get paid in 24 hours. There are a few shifts that are very specific to not getting paid the next day and you'll know it when you're working one. Yet, it's been almost 30 hours and no change. The bot just keeps saying check back in a couple of hours. I'm literally helpless to regain my pay. Reviews echo similar stories.
So everything is simple and self explanatory, you usually get paid 2-3 hours after your shift. But 1 thing that has gotten me nervous, is how slow and laggy it is when you want to check and complete tasks for the orientation . I'm on a time limit, and I have to wait around until my phone loads the next task. maybe it's just the app itself needing a high processor phone, but hoping it can ease up a bit. I wouldn't mind, if each tasks only showed pictures instead of short videos.
I signed up for orientation, showed up on time, signed in @ Circle K, only for the check in button to not work. went through the location, turned it on, still no check in. Shiftsmart texted they would take me off the shift. I tried to call customer support to learn there is none. It would be better to have a phone at each location to have a worker sign in that way, then through the app.. and a way to speak to customer support. Why run a business if your not going to support your employees.
after you go to orientation they run a background check, not generally a problem but there was an error on my report and when trying to contact them like they tell you to, they don't respond in enough time to not be kicked for not scheduling shifts during your first week, unfortunately for me there hasn't been any shifts in my area that they will allow me to pick up now and they do not update jobs daily for everyone, it's an unfair app.
I showed up on location, the manager. couldn't access the check in code. I contacted ShiftSmart for check in through the app. I was told that my location couldn't be verified. I didn't get to work, or get paid, even though I showed up. Then, to add insult to injury, MY reliability score and on time score were docked. Unacceptable! I contacted support again and received no reply. I will no longer be working for this janky sketchy company.
Shifts are too short and normally far away not to mention the pay isn't great. It's good to have as a back up to make a quick little 20 dollars but it's not always worth it. the app also at times will not upload during a shift which makes it impossible to follow the tasks. I've worked several shifts where I haven't been paid because of this even though I completed what was needed but just wasn't able to upload everything. Good luck getting a response from them either.
not being able to talk to a live person when having problems. constantly being bugged by the app to set appointments. scheduling appointment in one city and being reminded by the app that your appointment is in another city. The delivery apps are easier to navigate than this one. very disappointing. would not recommend for anybody. another company that will send you a 1099 and leave you with no deductions for taxes. companies that send 1099s are scams. very disappointing again.
Easy gigs. Customer service SUCKS!!! No # to call and it's email only. The only way to do that is to go thru the chatbot first, and it creates a ticket. God forbid there's a technical issue with the app.🤦🏽♀️ I've had to start taking pictures in front of the store to prove I was there because the app said I wasn't and had to fight for payment! Outside of that, easy change for your pocket. Update: Don't do the mystery shops! I've been waiting a month now for payment! Doesn't follow own policy!!
The app had issues when I tried to set up my first shift.. the customer service helped, and that went fine .. However, after that, none of the shifts were showing up. and they still aren't. when they did show up , they were a half hour to 45 minutes away the next day .. and when I finally tried to book one that was close they told me I needed to complete the background check and when I did that the entire app froze .. the day after the shift.. I got a message saying I was a no call no show.
I've been using this app for a couple of months. It's fine until you have a problem. I worked a shift, trained 2 people, and didn't get paid for it. They have 2 people trained by me who can confirm that I was there. Not to mention that you have to submit photographic proof of your work being done. Yet I wasn't paid. The AI chat is your only form of communication. I have called every number they called from and emailed them. Lastly, the app automatically clocks you out, aka free labor...
Picked up a product testing gig where they take all of your electronics upon arrival so as not to interfere with the testing technology. Because I was unable to respond to notifications sent by shiftsmart (since the client had my phone and smart watch), I was marked as a no-show. After completing the testing, I was given back all of my technology and saw the notifications. I immediately opened a support ticket. It's been 6 days. I've reached out twice and have yet to receive a response or paymen
Things were going well until recently, store managers loved me, I was even training newbies. Then, they had some sort of update to help detect fraud, but it thinks everything is fraud now and they delay or reject every single payment. If the app glitches, as it often does, you don't get paid. You don't get paid for being turned away after a certain point either, apparently there is a "lifetime limit." Also, backup shifts aren't really backup anymore according to 'Sam (not chatbot)'.
The app is legit but it's frustrating to use. What the app doesn't say is that your first shift is actually going to be a training course. It wouldn't be a big issue if there were actual shifts to book afterward! After two days, I was finally able to book a shift, only to be told that I had to complete a background. I went ahead to submit my info, but when I hit back to hide the keyboard, it took me all the way to the homepage. Now my background is "incomplete" and I am unable to update it.
If you need help because the poorly programmed app isn't working correctly, expect the only support line to be an emailed ticket that takes a week to get a follow-up. I've had issues with searching shifts, failing to yield results when moments before it had shown >10 across various locations, or showing the results and locations centered around a random part of the state even while your current location is right. The map doesn't allow you to change the search area, so it stays stuck for the day.
