So here's my honest take on Shopify Point of Sale (POS). I've tested a bunch of retail POS apps and this one's pretty solid. The tight integration with Shopify is a big plus - it makes managing inventory, customers, and sales across channels a breeze. And the mobile checkout is also really handy, no more being stuck behind a counter. But it does have a bit of a learning curve, took me a while to figure out all the features. And the payment processing rates, while competitive, are still not the cheapest out there. Overall though, it's a reliable POS system that works well for Shopify merchants.

Pros

  • Seamless integration with Shopify online store
  • Mobile POS lets you checkout customers anywhere
  • Accepts all major payment types including contactless
  • Automatic sales tax calculation at checkout
  • Centralized inventory and customer management

Cons

  • Onboarding and setup can be confusing at first
  • Payment processing rates are average, not the lowest
  • Might be overkill for really small businesses
  • Limited customization options compared to some POS apps

Description

Been using Shopify Point of Sale (POS) for a couple months now. It’s basically a mobile app that lets you manage all your retail sales and inventory in one place, syncing everything with your online Shopify store. Pretty solid app if you’re running a physical retail business.

Here’s what you do: you can use the POS app to ring up customers, accept all major payment types, and even apply the right sales tax automatically. And there’s also customer profiles and inventory management – it’s got all the features you’d expect from a retail POS system. And the mobile capabilities are pretty cool, you can checkout customers anywhere in the store.

Look, if you’ve got a Shopify online store and a brick-and-mortar location, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the onboarding can be a bit confusing at first – but overall it does the job of tying your retail and ecommerce operations together. Worth checking out.
