It's a shame how poorly it picks up sounds and the subscription is not very affordable for me. however it does give good tips and teaches about technique very well! I give the app one star because (like i said earlier) it sucks on recognizing notes and as another person said, it throws off you're timing and makes you want to quit. not to mention i can hardly tune my guitar on this app when I pluck the "E" string it reads green and immediately changes to the next one even if the sound is not OK.
Reviews for Simply Guitar – Learn Guitar
I love playing the guitar, but I don't have one for myself. my friend sent me a free trial while I was at his place and I was practicing with one of his guitars. it was a 2 week free trial, which is great, but after it's done it'll bill you. I just set my account for deletion, but apparently it will take '30 days' to process. Can't wait to buy-back 125 dollars when the time comes because of this terrible system.
The free part of this app is good, it can pick up the crords I'm playing well. But just when I thought I can learn more, It makes you pay 100$ a year. Not only that, after you pay the app suddenly can't hear like any cord you play. I had to intentionally play the cord incorrectly just so it could hear it. But it's not like I'm just going to cancel my subscription, because I already payed 100$ so might as well cancel on the last day and just have a whole year of frustration. This app is a scam.
It was good for the first 5 minutes, which tought you the basics so you can play the song of your choice. I was excited when I finished the basics to play the song but then it stops you with a paywall just to play a song you can search up on Google. I really hate all these guitar apps that say they're free when in reality 90% of it is payed. Also, I saw a lot of reviews that were disappointed after they bought the subscription so, I wouldn't recommend it.
Extremely mediocre. While other apps have premium versions to learn faster and have unlimited time in a day, for this one you have to pay to keep using it after learning to pluck one string, and for some reason this app is terrible at picking up sound. I recommend Yousician as a much better choice than this. You can still actually learn a lot there for free if you don't feel like getting premium.
Firstly, I will be canceling my subscription. This app has so much potential. But it cannot pick up string 6 on the guitar. It's very frustrating to do parts of songs over and over just because the program can't pick up the "E" notes. It throws your timing off and makes you want to stop playing. I've used two different guitars, 2 amps and the same issue. Don't download.
Ok, first let me start by saying your ads make too ridiculous of promises. I'm fine if you wanna promise that your app will make learning easier, but that doesnt stop guitar from being inherently difficult to learn. That's how musical instruments work. They're hard. That being said, by what I'd seen pre-subscription, your methods are pretty easy to follow. It wasn't the greatest, mechanically, as it kept doing things like reading a chords ringing out as me playing it consecutively.
You see the ad on youtube. Doesnt say anything about pay. Seems like a good idea. Download it. Free download. Start to practice your first strings and the Em chord. Get all the way up to the final lesson. Playing along with a song. But as soon as you click on the song it brings you to a pay wall. You're disappointed because nowhere between the moment you saw the ad and now did it mention payment. Maybe if download wasnt free and said something in ad or in store it wouldnt be so infuriating. 1 ⭐
I used this app think that maybe I would possibly learn guitar, but surprise surprise! "You have to get PREMIUM to be able to learn your life dreams basics (:", that maybe have more hyperbole to it than it really is but seriously, a "free" app, if it were really free, than you'd think that you would be able to go a couple more lessons at least. And no, my name is not jon Petersen. For people who are looking to get educated in the matter of guitar, than they will have to choose a different app
I imagine this app would be useful for people who wouldn't mind paying money to learn guitar, but I should mention that even though downloading the app is free, it tells you to pay monthly/annual fees upon completing around five small lessons, and it fails to specify so in the advertisements where they say you can "Download it for free." Don't get this app if you aren't planning on spending money. The five lessons teach you stuff you can figure out on your own anyways.
