Reviews for Simply Sing: My Singing App

I sound better without it. there's no option to slow the songs down so you can actually learn the notes, you just have to replay it as if pressing play on any streaming app. there's no focus on inflections (at least not in the early lessons). I thought for sure I would be judged on Dynamics. I paid for this app in hopes to better connect with live musicians and this made me worse at karaoke... I'll be contacting you guys for a refund.

This is horrible. at first they give you tasks to find a your vocal type which is pretty fun, but once you're done with that, you can't sing any songs in your vocal type unless you pay first. At least give me ONE freaking song so I can actually test the damn app. but you're begging for money before I even get the chance to see the potential of the app, it's crazy!

This seemed like a fun app to download to play around with. I was tested and found my vocal range, and that was pretty much it until they wanted you to buy something. I couldn't even get one song to see if I would even like the app first before wanting to spend money. It's not worth it at all. I'll be uninstalling and just singing on my own, per usual.

They advertised it as some great app that helps with singing. You have to pay for it all and the prices aren't even good. Its 14.99 each month. SERIOUSLY. Why make an app that makes you pay to sing a song. I am more mad at the fact I went through the whole voice thing and little videos just to find out I can’t even use this. It was stupid and I dont recommend. Get an app that doesn't charge you for it.

The main feature marketed for the app (detecting your vocal range) works fine, but that's the only feature you can use before you're prompted to pay for a subscription at least one month long before you can even sing one song using the app, no free trial whatsoever. The whole thing makes me think that the app isn't actually that good, and by the time you realize that you've already spent $15 on a subscription.

A complete scam with misleading advertising. Listed as free but the only thing you can do for free is give them your data. There's 0 free content. W/o paying $15/month or $60 a year there's nothing to do but give them your data for free. The pricing was weird too. Normally things with monthly & annual subscription options offer a small discount on the annual plan for giving them a chunk of cash up-front. This is 300% more for monthly. What, are you not planning to be around in a year?

Everything is behind a paywall past giving you your range, so there is literally no way to even try it and decide if you want to continue with it or if you think the app does a good enough job with transposition to pay for it. I think they should offer about 7-10 songs free so people can decide before the hefty $15/mo which is higher than other similar apps. I can see they have it laid out like a game with levels, but that's about it. The range it gave me was accurate.

Pay-to-play app is terrible because it misleads members into thinking there's free content. The only "free content" is the Vocal Range identifier at the very beginning. Once inside, a list of recommended songs is given, and most other songs have a lock - fair, ok. Turns out that all the songs require Subscription to access - what the huh!? Why have locks on some and not others? To unlock as you gain XP - but that was never explained anywhere through the introduction! Waste of time.

Bait and Switch con here. This app is free to install but not to use. The line about "in app purchases" means everything in the app, not just some things. There is a $15 (rounded) per month or a $100+ dollar annual subscription requirement. What's free: A bunch of repetitive promo ads for the app and the opportunity to scream and hum into your phone. That's it, no songs available. Some songs have locks and some don't. What's the difference? Nothing. All point back to the subscription.

I kept getting this app recommended to me many times and made it seem like it was actually a great deal and I would actually be learning my vocal range and how to sing. but when you actually download it, it actually never works. they don't tell you that you have to pay which is miss leading. you'll be better off with the other singing apps that are free. DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS!!

There is no evaluation of what this app actually does before being asked to pay. That's just weird. Makes you go thru a whole setup to give you your vocal range. (duh I already know I'm a baritone). app might be great, but jumps to monetization way too quickly. I'm not spending money to figure out what this app does or if it will help me get better. The play store is too crowded with options to spend money and time on a poorly designed app that requests money before offering any experience.

When I first went into the app, everything seemed great. After it figured out my vocal range, adjusted all the songs to my vocal range, and gave me a page full of "Level 1" songs that I could learn, but when I selected one, it told me I needed to pay for the full version to get access to the song. I went back and selected a different song. Same thing. I kept trying to select new songs but every time it told me I have to pay for the full version. Don't get it if you don't want to spend money.

I love the concept, but so far I'm not impressed with the note finding. if I use headphones, it gets lost. if I use the speaker, its picking up the instrumental and not my voice. Kinda defeats the purpose. also, I have been in Choir for 10 years, and I know my range is very high. when you first sign up and first take the test, it seems to throw you into One Range even if you have a very wide one. looking at other reviews, if you're a woman, it puts you in a higher range even if you sing Low.

I got an add for this app awhile ago and decided to finally give it a go, well...after I got all set up and got my voice range and went to pick a song.....they make you pay for it....every single one of them. There is no possible way to actually try it out. You have to pay for it first. I do NOT suggest this app unless you want to pay $12 a month just to play a couple songs

The first time I did the Vocal range test, it put me as a soprano which I know I'm not second time it put me as an alto. I tried it a third time and then it was a mezzo. I wasn't changing the way I was responding to the prompts, but it gave me three different vocal ranges. when I sing the songs, it's often registering a high note even though i'm either not saying anything at all or singing a mid to low note. Overall just not very accurate. Also the lessons are only about 3 minutes once a day.

Seems cool but you literally cannot sing a song with it unless you pay for a subscription service. I think that's awful. The free app is basically a tutorial/range finder. I understand the app needs to make money, but even Smule doesn't completely lock their songs behind a paywall. Please allow there some way for me to actually use the app without needing to pay if the app itself is free.

Absolute trash that I can't sing a single song without paying $15 for a month-long subscription just to see if I like it. What happened to trial periods? Why do you not at least have the most popular songs freely available and then get people to pay to sing their favorites. And even if one does pay, your rock category is pathetic. I can't believe I even allowed this app to live on my phone for so long before I got around to trying it. Should've read the reviews first I guess.

no info about having to pay for the app before being able to sing even 1 song... not cool... I hate it when companies get you all excited for their app just for it to require payment to even try it at all!!! not even a free trial or even a small amount of song available for free to see if I even like the app... I think I would like it but im not paying for something I have no idea if it's even worth the money. oh and im not a soprano not even close I've been an alto or mezzo at the highest ever.

With the way this app is advertised I expected it to teach way more, and for it to be better at picking up accurate vocal ranges. It kept putting me in Alto or mezzo, when I've been a contralto for a very long time. I also expected it to have way more songs, and to coach you when you're singing other songs. It's not worth the asking prices, and they don't even give you a couple of free songs to try out before requiring you to pay. I cancelled my subscription same day.

Installed this after seeing an ad about it and was curious what my range was. After the tutorial/test and receiving the results......well that's pretty much it. They make you pay for EVERYTHING. There's not a single free song. I'm sure there are other singing apps that give you at least a couple of free songs or some songs that you need to watch an ad for. This one? You get nothing but a test/tutorial that may or may not be accurate. You'd probably save more money going to an actual vocal coach
