The variety and content is good, but it falls short everywhere else. The sound quality is poor. The streaming quality is compressed and lacks detail. Why would they limit you on skips when you pay for the service? All other paid music apps give you unlimited skips when you subscribe to a plan. It's definitely not worth $10 a month when you can pay for another service that has more content, much better sound quality, and unlimited skips for roughly the same price.
Reviews for SiriusXM: Music, Sports & News
← Back to SiriusXM: Music, Sports & NewsUse to work fine after several latest updates music halts and pops an error saying it's offline to try again later. I've cleared cache, nothing! I thought it was just the 1 station. Also thought it was my WIFI connectivity. It ain't, still randomly happening, particularly when I'm in the shower and can't react! At this point I'm considering cancellation of the service all together. It's expensive to be putting up with all these issues.
Always the same problem. They never fix it. I download programs for later. The app will frequently fail to pick up in the same place after a pause. I have to waste time searching for where I left off. EDITED PART: OK, so the size of the "now playing notification" in the status bar is not the fault of this app. It's the fault of One UI 7.0
EDIT: In further communication: The UI on my phone doesn't have the "easy" option mentioned, but I did find the 4-step process to add them to my Library. That doesn't resolve the horrible "OR" based non-filterable search, having no "light" mode, a convoluted and cluttered interface, "Stern?", the constant pauses "for Safety" on the UI, "Just for you" items that make zero sense and poor categorization. It is an app designed to never take the place of their expensive in-car plans.
Takes up the whole notifications bar. But if you block notifications. It doesn't work anymore. At least connected to car. I shouldn't have to periodically swipe down on my phone while driving to make sure I haven't missed a text or something. I should still be able to see my other 4 or 5 recent notifications. You can't control app from notification bar anyway so no reason to take up the entire notifications bar.
I used to be able to listen to Fox News on my S24 and skip through the commercial breaks or segments I didn't want to hear. I could go forward and backward. Very nice. Now I can only skip around in 15 second increments. Frustrating. The software update is likely designed to optimize commercials. I am switching to other products.
Way to make the new version put us in danger! I thought there was a problem with my phone until I read the reviews that the new version does not allow you to skip through news commercials. I listen primarily while I'm driving. so now instead of pushing a button and my eyes never leaving the road I have to fumble with my phone and turn it on and get to the app and then continuously keep looking down at my phone to keep forwarding 15 seconds at a time through the commercials. just plain stupi
Sad day, I begrudgingly updated to the new app (the one without Favorites but with Library) Like many, I simply hate it. Hate it enough to cancel service instead of trying to get use to the new app. Who needs the aggregation when there are so many other options. App now is more unstable and crashes more requently, the replay doesn't seem to work as robustly. The song start feature needs an option to play the end of the previous song, like before, because it doesn't start at the beginning
App has gotten better than when I last used it, but Chromecasting channels to my Youtube TV remains busted. The music will play for a little while, but then it starts pausing for very long periods of time. Seems you need to use the Youtube TV app itself to play SiriusXM on YoutubeTV, but I prefer to use my phone to control it. Would be nice if this could be fixed. I am having this issue when using the app both from my Pixel phone(s) and Pixel tablet.
1 star!! This app has had the same problem for years...PLEASE FIX IT! If you open the app in your vehicle, close the app and exit the vehicle, when you re-renter later it auto-connects and starts back up...even if it's closed and you don't want it to! And most of the time you need to go to your Apps folder and do a 'Force Stop'. I check for updates often...again, been going on for years!! 5 stars if this ever gets fixed.
Update: downgrade to single star due to continuous issues with speed, still constantly get the "we're having trouble playing this" message. Worst app on my phone. App is so terribly bad in terms of being able to playback stations. I constantly receive the "We're having trouble playing this" message. I switch over to Spotify and no problem. This is my only media app that struggles to play content. Also they could much better in making Favorites easier to get to - refer to Spotify again.
How can this app be so BAD - PLEASE FIX THE PERSISTENCE ISSUES. All I want to do is listen to a show, be able to pause it and then come back to it later and continue listening from the same point. IMPOSSIBLE. If I pause a live stream - and leave my phone for more than 5 minutes - I have to start all over again. Even when I listen to an on-demand show, it will not track my progress. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Also, there are continuous drop outs, app crashes and just general terribleness.
Damn thing starts every time I restart my phone. Very rude! It's now over a year later and it still auto-starts and sticks a banner on my screen, usually with something I don't care about. I'm tempted to uninstall it, because I rarely use it on my phone. I can listen/watch on my computer, WiFi radio, and vehicle. If it isn't fixed in the next update then it's getting uninstalled
This used to be a good app. Used to be able to binge a show, and the app would play all episodes in succession. Now, it just repeats the same episode over and over. 5 minutes after I start listening, the app stops playback and gives a "something went wrong" message. I have to close the app, reopen, and restart what I'm listening to. Normally, that wouldn't be an issue, but I am a truck driver, and I listen while I'm at work. Having to pull over every time this happens is inconvenient.
Getting better but still lagging other straming music apps. I'm liking the additional content provided on the "Extras" app-exclusive channels and it's a move in the right direction. Just still got some steps to take. My biggest point of contention would be the app UI. It's not pretty. It's not very intuitive. Like I said, though, things do seem to be moving in the right direction. I would have rated this 2 stars 6 mos ago. 2025 edit: 2 stars. Android Auto experience is awful.
If you're looking to purchase constant frustration, this app is for you. Apparently, there are satellites up there that relay broadcasts of programming like old timey radio still does. But unlike old timey radio, when you turn it on, it doesn't work. Old timey radio is free. This is not. When the app works, it's great. The constant "we're having trouble playing this" is not worth my membership, which began in April 2007.
This is the only app that I can honestly say is junk. First problem I had was it would start playing at random times for no reason. Night, day, any hour, it didn't matter, it would just start playing. Uninstalled it, cleared cache and reinstalled it. Now it won't play a song for maybe 5 or 10 seconds and just shuts off. You will be disappointed if you get this app.
The app is always closing, randomly throughout the day. Sometimes 10 to 15 times a day. It's getting hard to pay for a service that randomly quits working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous times. I have made sure to have a strong internet connection, and that nothing else would interfere with it, but it does not matter. I have tried on multiple devices but have the same results on all them. It's sad that we would rather listen to hours of commercials. still not working right!
Terrible app. Even once you get past the login issues (can't use a VPN), the app only sporadically works. It takes long to open and for songs to load. Songs will stop mid-stream and then the app won't let you start a new song or channel. Channels don't update to current live feed. These issues are only amplified with Android Auto, where the app will launch but not play. New issue: Entire library doesn't show up on AA. Favorited channels just aren't there.
The extra stations repeat the same 6 or so songs for the first round. In addition, if you skip them, you know, since you just heard them, it counts towards your skip limit, which shouldn't even be a thing for the extra channels anyways. Every response I get is to uninstall and reinstall, making me do the work when they're the one with the poorly developed app.
