So here's my honest take on Skelly: Poseable Anatomy Model. I've tested a bunch of reference apps and this one's pretty good. The 3D skeleton model is super detailed and accurate, and being able to pose it in any position is really helpful for drawing. The simplified 'Robo-Skelly' is a nice addition too. The only downside is the UI can be a bit confusing to navigate at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's a useful tool. Overall, I'd recommend it if you're an artist looking for an anatomy reference that's more hands-on than just 2D pictures.

Pros

  • Highly detailed 3D skeleton model you can pose any way
  • Simplified 'Robo-Skelly' version for quicker sketching
  • Accurate anatomical details to study
  • Free to download and use
  • Works well for drawing, painting, sculpting, and more

Cons

  • User interface can be a bit clunky at first
  • Some features are a little hidden or hard to find
  • Gets repetitive after a while if you're just using the same poses
  • Occasional ads if you don't pay for the pro version

Description

Been using Skelly: Poseable Anatomy Model for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you pose a 3D skeleton model to use as a reference for drawing, painting, or any other art. Pretty solid app if you’re into that kinda thing.

Here’s what you can do: you can twist and turn the skeleton into all sorts of poses, zoom in, change the view, and even swap to a simplified ‘Robo-Skelly’ version. There’s also a layer view that shows the different bones, which is super handy. And the anatomical details are pretty accurate – took me a while to figure out all the different bones but it’s useful.

Look, if you’re an artist or art student who needs skeleton reference, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the user interface can be a bit clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out.

It's good, but the app needs to have restrictions for the realistic joint limitations of the bones, and you can't move the finger and toe bones? Lots of improvements need...

Not bad, but lacking some features. Would love it if it had: 1.Camera controls, specifically FOV adjustment. 2. Ability to export images. Right now you have to take a screenshot....

A very simple bare bones reference model. The product feature describing this model as being "fully poseable" is blatantly false. And the lack of finer articulation, labeling of bones, and...
