Wow, SkySafari 7 Pro is more capable than I expected. Was mostly intersted to use as it as a polar alignment tool. Accurate PA in less than 1 minute means more time for actual astrophotography. I might abandon my routines using ASIAIR or Polemaster for PA. To import a custom landscape was a simple drag and drop. Just make small adjustment on the png so the left side starts at north. The H-R diagram is a beautiful feature. I'm using a Samsung S23 Ultra and have no issues with the app.
Reviews for SkySafari 7 Pro
← Back to SkySafari 7 ProThis is a ripoff app! I paid for this app, but to use all the features, you have to pay for either a monthly or yearly subscription on top of what you already paid! What I paid for is to have the ads removed and still not be able to access all the features! Save your money and just get the free version or just find another comparable app.
I don't give out 5 star reviews often. A must have for any with a serious interest in star gazing and astronomy. I have about 5 different astronomy/sky map type apps, and this is the go-to. Great for aligning and controlling you telescope if it is compatible. As soon as I saw what it was capable of, I purchased the Pro version, and have zero regrets. It's one of the first things I recommend to people when I tell them what's in my astronomy toolbox.
Sky Safari is my favorite astronomy app, I love it! Been using it for years. There are things here and there that could be improved but it's become an important part of star gazing for me. Scope display is essential for planning my astrophotography sessions as well. Recommend this to everyone I talk to when discussing astronomy.
I am disappointed with all the problems and lack of support I am getting. I have two issues I've reported with no answers in months. Sometimes objects just disappear or aren't available and I have objects it seems to just stop recognizing and so they go orange in my observing lists or observation settings so that I can't access them. SS6 is much more stable.
A real let down compared to the previous pro versions. Description has been completely dropped, audio tour and pronounce object features work only for some objects. Usability is not great but one will get used to it. I had given 5 stars for 5 Pro. I used it extensively and whole heartfelt recommended to many people but 7 Pro deserves only two. If you already have the previous versions, don't bother updating. You would be disappointed.
I have had this for a year and cannot get it to align my scope and cannot get help. Using AVX with ss autoalign.
I paid for the yearly subscription but did not get the paid features.
Very disappointed because the scope connects but doesn't move when I press the left/right down/up buttons. When I press the buttons, on the screen I see the blue circle (which is supposedly what the optical tube is pointing at) moving & sort of "jumping" in the sky, & the telescope still won't move. Not sure if there is a troubleshooting method or whether I should ask for a refund... PS: the scope connects & moves fine with SkyPortal (which is also surprising, since SkySafari is more advanced).
I have both SkySafari 7 & SS5; 7 has many exc new features but interface has become more complicated, so I prefer to run 5. Though SS5 runs fine on current Android 16, it's no longer on Google Play, so I can't put it on a new phone I got recently; disappointed! I asked developer for help, their response was 'Google took it away.' My response to 7.29 developer comment below: SS5 is no longer available on Google Play; Google Support says DEVELOPER controls availability of its apps on GP.
I bought a subscription but app doesn't register me. difficult to fix. not sure how to do. doesn't work.
Notifications 🤬 why do you have to remind me that I've turned off notifications, I DON'T WANT NOTIFICATIONS from sky Safari! but you insist that I turn them on 🤬
I use a phone and a tablet interchangeably, and changes I make on one device are transferred to the other. Spot on alignment and control of multiple mount brands. Handles StarSense very well. I'm using Pro version, so there are no ads shown. EDIT: Love it for function, cross platform, scope control, information.
I have decided to ditch Skysafari because of the insanely bad navigation and filters behavior even though I paid for it. Can't believe that an app that's been on the market for so long has not come further.
It's absolutely stunning. More capabilities than what a novice interested in astro-imaging needs. I have tried ASIAIR Plus, but it does not have the functionality of SkySafari. It has a learning curve, which I had to patiently follow and endure. Thanks for a superb product.
Unusable. The icons at the bottom of the display were outlines in Version 6. Now they are solid, so they have become blindingly bright, even in red mode. The new fonts are also too bright. Also, the grid lines have changed from high contrast, high visibility green, which suited dim screens, to low contrast, hard-to-see-at-any-brightness brown, rendering them hard to see. The new features are not important if one can not read the display. Stick with Version 6.
Great for rewinding the night sky and seeing what beauties lined the heavens. some interface snaggles (I would love to have the Julian date right there in the interface instead of having to hunt for it in settings) but overall a wonderful and incredibly usable app.
I have been using SkySafari for years with great satisfaction. Suddenly, version 7Pro (Android) is showing erratic behavour: daylight is always on anytime of the day; Sun and Moon has disappeared etc...Reinstalling from scratch has solved the issue for a few runs and then the issue has reappeared. I am stuck! No hint how to fix it
not sure how I feel you guys asked for a review very quickly. So I'm going to give you my best review that I can now. After buying this telescope dot the apps were all included. at least description made it seem that. Then they offer 60% off upgrade version of app which cost $20 on top of that. They have a monthly subscription. To upgrade the app. so free app that comes with scope turns into a 1 rime payment for update version which does not unlock all features for that you have to pay monthly
I had started out with the free version of this app and worked my way up to the pro. I don't have a telescope but plan on getting one down the road so I wanted to ensure I had the latest and greatest when I do. My one issue I have and the reason for the 4/5 star review is that sometimes the + zoom button latches on and the app zooms to max and I cannot zoom back out. I have to force close the app which gets annoying but beyond that I have no complaints.
