Great app overall! I love how much information it gives about each star, planet. constellation, object, satellite, etc. Only wish is if possible, programming the app to show solar and lunar eclipses in real time (based on the user's location).
Reviews for SkyView® Explore the Universe
← Back to SkyView® Explore the UniverseThis is my FAVORITE app of all time! It combines education, beautiful, tranquil summer skies, and augmented reality that is ACTUALLY immersive. The music is soothing. I've had the full edition twice and it's definitely a buy; but, having the galaxies on the screen when you can't see them with your naked eye sometimes ruins the pure simplicity of the app. The free one is GREAT on its own.for drawing beginners into science. at the rate my phones are stolen, I don't always upgrade..
I've been using the app for about 8 years and I love it. It's simple, has enough options to tweak, like night mode in red or green so not to disturb the surroundings, with an augmented reality mode. You can also use it as a navigator and pair hardware with it.
I was skeptical when I first read about the app in a BBC news article and thought it was too good to be true when I first tried the free version. now I luve out of town where you can truly see the everything in the night sky. I splurged the whole $2.22 to buy this version and enjoy it 10 times more. I highly suggest everyone buy the paid version and enjoy all the extras added to it. Happy Stargazing astronomers! and thanks Skyview!
Not sure what happened, but unable to calibrate the compass anymore & it's all over the place! The moon & sun rise to the west, this app is basically useless. Figures after I purchased the pro edition. Still useless after all these years! Hoping to see where the moon is & the compass is everywhere except where it's supposed to be!
I've been using this app for about a decade now. its a great app to have. can't tell you how many times I used it while out with people or by my self. Well worth the $2 for the paid version but use the free version for a while before you commit. its a basic star app but perfect for when your out looking at the night sky.
Soooo much fun! I only paid a few bucks and I get to keep the app. They don't charge you monthly like everyone else. Totally worth it! I can see Planets, Stars, and satellites on real-time. I can see what direction I want to be looking at and then I can focus on certain objects in the sky and it gives you a little bit more of the backdrop story. I pull out my phone quite a bit and look to see what I'm looking at. So fun! 🤩 Try it. I bet you will love it so much.
THE best app for star gazing. I love the way it shows the light sources immediately near me in such a way that doesn't interfere with the heavenly bodies. And you can make it show the planets as large as you like. (The planets are the most interesting IMHO.)
Excellent app but would love to see two things added to make it amazing, first one is an image within the app that shows what the object looks like instead of having to go to the Wikipedia page. the second and something that would really make this app awesome is an option to automatically have the app read out the description. I have my phone mounted to my telescope and use it pretty much as a finder scope so the additions would make this app absolutely amazing
Used this for years and it used to be awesome - you'd see something moving in the night sky and it would tell you what it was, but it now doesn't show anything and shows satellites where there are none. Tried recallibrating, resetting the time etc and still doesn't work. Very disappointing for a paid app.
it's great when it works and awful when it doesn't. even after reading the FAQ, I still have trouble calibrating sometimes. It would be great if there was a "manual" calibration mode where it would say "point your phone at Polaris and then press this button" or something like that.
Awesome tool for any star watcher especially amateur ones. Have been using this for years and love it. constellation finder is also great looking for periodic meteor showers
When a star app that you pay for shows the moon 30-40 degrees off its mark, it sucks. I've updated the compass on my phone and checked it multiple times.
excellent app of the cosmos. display satellites, rocket bodies, planets, etc. lightweight as opposed to other such apps in this category. beautiful UI / display. as information of all the astral bodies it displays. the pro version is well worth the $4.99 for a one-time lifetime option. no ads and you get much much more. this app is definitely a keeper. highly recommended
Up until I switched to the Galaxy S24+ (had S20 FE before), I loved this app, and had upgraded to the paid version. But since switching phones, I'm getting that annoying gray screen. I've seen other reviews stating they're getting the same issue - looks like it's just not compatible with this phone model?? Will happily change to 5 stars if this issue is fixed.
I liked the lite version, so I paid the 2 bucks for the "full" version. And to my surprise, there was a significant marging of error, in terms of location of planets, from the lite free version to the paid one. The moon really made it clear how off is the lite app. And then the paid version isn't as exact neither. Took it a while to realize it was off, and eventually aligned.
HIGHLY RECOMmENDED APP. Download the unbelievable free version or pay for the premium. Either way, put it on your phone. Even if you don't care for astronomy, astrology or the celestial reality of the earth's position in a frozen, blackened void. It's just awesome. Premium version is that much better. Can't say enough good things about it. The simplicity makes it perfect. Might be the best app for android I've ever seen. Download it now, you won't be disappointed.
great app for identifying things in the sky, unfortunately, it isn't calibrating well. Off by a bit at first and now, it's so bad I ended up having to download 2 other apps to compare. on July 6th at 545AM Venus was extremely bright in the sky, not only could the app not identify it, I had to turn my body with phone in hand about 45 degrees for it to spot "Venus" and there was nothing in the sky. It also no longer spots satellites or space junk in our orbit like it used to. =(
Basically point and shoot. Everywhere you look your screen will be filled with everything you can think of. Planets, stars, constellations, satellites, space junk, paths, and tons more. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to learn, just look around! I've been using SkyView for years! A one time upgrade fee of $2 is well worth every penny for what you get. Planetarium experience in your pocket. May I also say that the background music is intoxicatingly beautiful!
I almost never pay to upgrade apps. My young child wanted to see planets not shown on the free version. Plus, I have a severe lack of navigation, so the background of my surroundings really helps to eliminate questions. After a few prompts to upgrade for $2, I gave it a try. We're really enjoying it, and I was pleasantly surprised by the difference. This is one upgrade I haven't regretted.
