Reviews for Smart Messages

This free messaging app gives you so many extra options than other message apps. I love the fact that you can schedule text messages, and you can archive messages without having to delete them. The stickers that are available are both free and some you pay to download. So far, I've not found anything negative to say about this app. Highly recommend!!

What I don't like: I just wish that the pop-up messages were bubbles and I wish that when you touch a quick reply, that it would just send the message instead of having to hit the enter key as well; Would be faster. They need to add more option for quick reply. Other than that, this app is great. You do need to get others to download and use the app kinda like Android Messages. This app does have more customization.

The app is very slow for an SMS app. It has some features I like, but the ad banner slows the app's speed. It gives an error message about recipients then freezes, nearly daily. Freezes daily. New messages come in as notifications and show in my notification bar, but do not show in the actually conversation chat. Get delayed message messages fairly commonly... but most of the time, the message actually went through, which is confusing and frustrating. Lots of spam texts.. Looking for a new app!!

My original messaging site quit taking dictation and this one works really well for that. But it hangs up a lot of the time and does various other things that I find are hard to work around. Sending messages to multiple recipients is hard, it only posts recent people in a quick directory so it's hard to find an address to send something to without going into a different application and clicking message in there. There's several enhancements that I would suggest to the developers of this site.

I "want" to like this app. It seems to have the basics, and that's all I was looking for after Verizon forcing us off Messages+. Ads not invasive. I was able to customize fields indicated (wallpaper, bubble colors, font size, (didn't see font style) etc. I tried testing with an out-of-state friend. Msgs sent back and forth worked. Sending (very short) audio clip worked. Sending a photo worked, but.....Would NOT send a video clip that was only 10 seconds long. And phone now freezing and crashing

Constantly freezing and crashing. I have checked for and installed updates. I have uninstalled and re installed the app. The ads are annoying. It's not very customizable. The one and only reason I downloaded this app was because it supports group texts of more than ten people, which I need for work. But I'm lucky if I get through a few words before it freezes and or crashes.

I downloaded this app and I'm really enjoying how fast it worked ,even with messaging and sending pictures. the only gripe that I have so far is that when I want to forward something, to a chat room it doesn't show the chat .I actually have to put in the number each time, and the name that's kind of frustrating, but besides that I'm really enjoying this app . if they can fix that situation where if I want to forward a picture and just instantly go to the group chat ,that would be great.

All right. This app is pretty good, but I had a few bugs. It wouldn't keep all of the messages I sent, and sometimes it would show me as in a group chat with the person I was talking to. Also, there didnt seem to actually be AI spam detection, which was one of the reasons why I got it. But I imagine it is probably pretty secure (which was reason #1)! Another downside was you couldn't react with emojis to a message, but I know that's not exactly a need.

This app is still lacking some key features and still has a lot of bugs. For example, sharing from an external app, there is no way to send to a group with a single click like the competition. An example of a bug is you send an image but that image doesn't show as part of the thread until the app is force killed. I purchased an annual subscription thinking that it has potential, but cancelled not long after since I couldn't stand the bugs.

Great App. Very basic. If you are looking for a simple messaging app, this is it. Moved over your existing texts. Some advertising texts, but not a lot. No annoying ad videos. Settings allow you to choose font, font size, notifications, background and color of bubbles etc. I tried many. Love this one for its simplicity.

So far, okay. I hope this will be a keeper because I've been through practically all of these POS messaging apps. I would have added an additional star if it weren't for the stupid goofy notification sound for a message sent. I don't want to turn it off but to CHANGE it to the sound that I want! How hard is that to do in 2025?? Even several POS messaging apps managed to get this right! And if you fix the random crash (never happened with any other messaging app I've used!), it's a 5-star app.

It's very slow to respond. Message alerts will show at the top of the phone (tool bar?) even after messages have been read and even responded to. Sending text photos or memes are about 50%. They time out and don't send. Opening the app is slow, even after the alert had come through, and once app had opened, it takes often about 10-15 seconds to see who the new message is from on the text screen. Downloaded to replace Verizons message+ (they are discontinuing that service).

Note that I am writing this review in April and the app hasn't been updated since November. I began using this app (and continue to do so until I find something better) because it freaks with RCS messages. However, I am encountering several problems and I am not getting responses from support. The biggest issue is that I keep finding unsent messages that "are taking a long time to send". I have no idea what other messages are unsent in all my other chats.

I wanted to rate this program higher, but it looks like it doesn't send messages with photo attachments. All I get is "Something went wrong." It might help if the program gave context-sensitive messages as to the nature of the problem. It has the option to buy a subscription to rid the advertisements, but I looked and failed to see a setting to change so I can send embedded photos in my text messages.

It's pretty good if you hate the Google sms app. I wish it had the option to download images from the message thread vs having to open every single one and tap download. You can share just by tapping an image from the thread but not download to your device. You also can't react to text messages using RCS (👍❤️, etc) the way you can with other apps. Overall, I do like it better than Google but adding those missing features would be a huge improvement.

Frustratingly buggy. Often, when I type a recipient name, the app finds it, but then the name disappears before I can hit send. Then app won't let me type that name, or any other, again. Also, I'm having trouble sending photos from my gallery. It just told me Verizon was denying access to photos I had previously sent to other people. Unimpressive.

Overall it's a nice texting service. it's not too cluttered and you can change the message text size. it does provide for a pop-up but it could really use a true pop-up message over device lock screen that stays until you cancel it (like Verizo.. message +). You do receive a notification which is usually followed by a message saying that you received a notification which can't be turned off. You can change the background colors or add themes you can share images, videos and phone call.

Like many, I had to change text apps as Message+ ended. With all change comes new understanding of the process. It didn't take long to figure this system out, and I like it! It's simple and has plenty of features. There is one little ad, at the top of your screen that is very unintrusive, so don't believe the exaggerated claims of ads everywhere. Nothing is free, so just stop with that stuff. Also, if you'd like you can pay a very small fee to not see the one little ad. This is a great app!

Good app overall, but it tends to freeze regularly, and it's complete garbage if you want to send any sort of video file at all. Even a five second video is "too large" (for reference, with Verizon Messaging, from this same phone I used to be able to send videos upwards of two minutes long with absolutely no problem whatsoever). I like the customization options, definitely a huge plus in my book, but it could also definitely use a lot of work.

the app itself is very good but the deceptive ways it tries to trick you to subscribe to the paid version is in my opinion unacceptable. for example when you get a one time passcode it's very difficult to get the subscribe now box off of the screen. honestly if the attempts to get you to subscribe to the paid version weren't so aggressive I would have given this five stars. I understand the creators of this program want people to subscribe to the paid version but you have to let them decide.
