This is the podcast app I've always wanted. The only issue is that the audio and the transcript are not synced. As a result if I create a snip then it will start and end on the wrong spot which defeats the apps benefit. I'm having to monitor the transcript and manually select the words or I want to snip to end. I would much rather listen and just tap the button resting assured that the snip will be accurate.
Reviews for Snipd | AI Podcast Player
This is a killer product if you consume a large number of podcasts. The ability to see the transcript and also triple tap youuear buds to capture the current conversation is a game changer. If you are a researcher and have to listen to a large number of podcasts in order to stay up with a topic, this is the tool.
When the paywall dropped, I was on the fence about signing up for the paid tier. I liked the integration with Readwise and had about 12 podcasts but not enough to justify the high cost for using AI and snips couple times a month. Today I was going to sign up but when I started the app it forced me to create an account or continue without one. I didn't create one and after several upsell screens, I discovered it reset my account. ALL my podcasts and snips... gone. Well, now so am I. Shame.
The AI features are not that helpful to me, but the ability to snip once in a while is useful. I really wish the AI generated banner would go away on the top screen of a podcast episode. It is very large, hard to read, and crowds out the show notes and I almost always just want to read the show notes instead to understand what the episode is about. it is almost annoying enough to make me think about changing to a different podcast app at this point.
Editing this review to reflect an update to the app's cost for services. The gap between what the new free version of the app is, and the cost of the premium version isn't worth the additional 50 a year to me (this price reflects an early adopter discount as well, actual pricing was either 9.99 a month or 72 a year). The most valuable portion of the app for my use case is now paywalled, and I can just go back to traditional bookmarking and summarizing.
I love learning from podcasts, and have always been frustrated that I can't capture the things that I want to remember on the go. Snipd solved that for me. And then grew into something so much more. This is an amazing tool that can help you remember, recall, and share information. Learned through podcasts and a new and exciting way. They have thoughtfully integrated AI in a way that nudges you and helps you remember what you learn. Finally, they have a great team, very responsive to feedback!
I used to love this app and recommended to all my friends because it was so amazing. But recently, since they announced the pro tier (which I was tempted to buy, but didn't do right away) the free version has started having so many issues that I'm just annoyed. The podcasts don't load properly, it suddenly stops playing and keeps on asking me for many permissions. What seems fishy is that before the announcement of the pro tier, it worked flawlessly, without any special permissions.
LOVE this service, I cannot stand listening to podcasts without it at this point... It has spoiled me entirely. The only gripe is around the dynamic content adverts messing up transcription sync, but the team is doing the best they can around that. I love it so much I paid for two subscriptions because I need more than 900min/month of transcription when I go on a completionist binge of long-existing podcasts.
So far I haven't been having any problems with snipd so as somebody that's recently gotten back into podcasts I'd recommend it if just for the transcripts, although I'm no true power user so others needs may be greater. There are a few features that need to be added though, such as the ability to skip/trim silence, a widget maybe, and a way to skip forward from the notification shade without having to expand it. Edit: If there's a limit, I guess there's nothing for it then.
Neat Idea, still needs work. Definitely the most unique podcast all I've seen but it has some functionality quirks that make it tough to use. There is no web app or desktop app to listen to podcasts outside of your phone. Android auto functionality is terrible. Unless you've queued up a podcast there is no way to select a podcast to listen to without grabbing your phone. Also Android auto it sometimes just doesn't have any sound so you need to relaunch a few times to get it to work.
