I like the idea of the app, but I wish there was a way to adjust sensitivity of the recording. If you sleep with a fan, expect no results!!! You can manually search through the whole night of recordings to find some stuff but other then that you're screwed.. love the idea of the app but it's completely useless as it doesn't catch anything basically. I even tried snoring purposefully, very loudly after I started it. The next morning it still didn't show up
Reviews for SnoreLab : Record Your Snoring
← Back to SnoreLab : Record Your Snoring10.14.21 updated review: Very unreliable -- at least a couple times a week I get a message saying there was an error reading microphone data. So this is no longer worth paying for and I have canceled my subscription. If you're ok with it providing readings maybe half of the time, then maybe it's worth it to you, but not to me at their current price. Good luck! Original review: A really helpful app!
Very well done, well made app, easy to use with insightful information. I've been using it for over a week and have already learned a lot about the factors that increase my snoring. I didn't know so many things could affect snoring, I also didn't realize how many [alleged] remedies their are for snoring. As far as I can tell, so far, it's a near perfect app!
YOU DID IT, THANKS SO MUCH!!! I finally figured it out, pretty much stopped snoring! From heavy snoring all night to 1 or 2 snorts a night. The app really took out the unknowns. It told me what worked and what didn't. I spent a bunch of money on kose plugs and different mouth guards with no help. I recently found that I just needed to practice breathing through my nose. I started doing it on the treadmill in the gym and focusing on doing it throughout the day. The app told me results!
Bugs: I set max # samples to 20, but only got 5. Weaknesses: The free app is too limited. Only records a few samples a night, which can't be exported. Very unclear about what the limitations even are. But it seems like the trends are completely unavailable. Other frustrating annoyances: I entered weight into my session, but it wants me to enter it again into my profile. In my experience most free apps are useful as they are. This one seems way too controlling and limiting, basically just an add for the paid app, the price of which is above average for an app. The online documentation talks a lot about sleep apnea, something the app could be very good at detecting, but I see no analysis or even mention of it in the app, nor any notion that the paid app provides more in this area.
This app used to be great. Turn it on, lock the phone, go to sleep, wake up with result. Now, if you lock the screen, so you don't see a glowing cellphone screen the entire night, it won't record anything. If you accidentally minimize the app while it's running as you're going to bed, it won't record anything. I don't know why the developers think everyone wants their screen on all night. I can't turn the device upside down on a wireless charging pad. Make it an option or I won't pay to renew.
been using this app for several years. Over the past several months it has developed some bugs. Sometimes it would stop recording. At times it would fail to play sample. After having very high numbers for a long time, I am getting low numbers. Last night I got a score of zero. I was surprised so I listened to it and could here myself snoring even though the graph showed no snoring. I don't trust any of the numbers I am getting.
Overall it's a good app, but there are a couple of annoyances. First, when you start a new sleep session it retains all of your "factors" from the previous session even though they probably are different every night. Need to at least have an option to reset all options. Second, this thing massively drains the battery. Not even necessarily while it's recording, but well after it has finished. Multiple times I see it is using 16% of my battery later in the day, way after I stop recording.
Good but as other reviewers stated, wish we could adjust sensitivity. My phone will pick up cars driving by and even faint trains that are 5+ miles away. Once had my *quiet* ceiling fan on the whole night and woke up to 900+ saved recordings. What?? Also it will pick up my roommates entire conversations in the other room. Just make sure you set up your room to be as quiet as possible and you'll get some good results. I'd still recommend the app.
The free app was interesting, but showed only select periods of time. If you truely want to see exactly when and for how long you snore, the one-time $7.99 fee is worth it. The app picks up ALL sounds. At a glance it might look like you snore a lot, when some of the peak periods are just other sounds. On my nightly recordings I heard sounds of the house settling, the wall heater turning on, and the sound of a peacock that sleeps in a tree in my backyard screeching in the middle of the night.
Experienced the trial period, but it wasn't enough to sell me on the app. Helpful, but not worth the price for full version. To be honest, if the trial period was longer and perhaps more generous with functionality, I probably would have purchased the app. But when developers have EXTREMELY LIMITED TRIAL PERIODS on their apps, I always feel like they are hiding something. I prefer to avoid the disappointment, especially for an overpriced app. 😕
Personally I've never had to deal with a bug. Other than maybe an update with more sounds would be nice it's absolutely perfect. Premium is fairly priced (at most, I've paid $11/yr) and WAY cheaper than competitors. I absolutely enjoy being able to access my sleep stats and sounds from years ago, most other apps only keep a week, MAYBE a year before the data is wiped. Been a paying premium customer since 2019. Keep up the great work!
It has helped to see how much I snore and when, and I'm learning what things make me snore more. I don't like that it only allows me to use it every other night (versus every night) unless I pay to upgrade or subscribe! I downloaded this app because it was listed as "free" in my Android store. Once I'd used it for 7 days, it then became only a free day trial.
This is great app with lots of bugs. Considering that this is a paid app, it should be relatively mature and bug-free. It is not. Results and trends do not match. My snorescore might be a 3 in the results but a 7 in the trends. When I go thru my nightly recordings, I have to "X out" a lot of audios thay aren't snoring but me moving in bed or wind noise. Thats not a problem, but the app does not account for the time identified manually as not snoring.
This would be an excellent app, and actually is for five days or so, except that it is aggressively self-limiting and aggressively pushes upgrading to the paid version. I have never before encountered measures like precluding back-to-back days after the initial five days, nor limiting history to just a few days at that point as well. Other limitations such as limited interpretive functions in the free version were less surprising and thus less annoying. In my case, the admittedly impressive results were sufficiently reassuring that I felt no need to upgrade. Had I felt such a need, however, I would have sought out other apps first as I found these tactics most insulting and off-putting.
Was good, now absolutely livid. Paid $9.99 for the full version on 10/1/19. As of 10/10/19, the full version is subscription based. I had the full version I paid for yanked away after 9 days, and now they want an additional $5.99 for 3 months, or $11.99 for a year. This is absolutely underhanded and shady on the developers part. It may be a good app, but stay away, they just steal your money and then want more.
Was eager to try the app so I signed up for a free trial. Although it does mostly what it claims to, the app's biggest drawback is its power consumption as it needs to be constantly plugged in to operate. Further, as time went on, the microphone started to amplify/distort sounds it was picking up and made very difficult to know if I was hearing what was actually being recorded. I decided to cancel on the day the trial ended but was refused because I missed deadline by an hour.
update: app no longer works. suddenly stopped recording anything Great app but requires payment and doesnt always work. I loved the app, its great at tracking different volume noises throughout the night, and allows for good logging/tracking of other factors and sleep quality. But it suddenly stopped recording properly (during the free trial) so I dont think its worth paying for.
I realize you need to make money and we are in a time of inflation, but to go from $11.99 a year to $29.99, in just 2 years is ridiculous (that is a 250% increase). Plus it is a subscription, not a one time purchase. If you say it is because of cloud storage costs, offer a plan without it. Regarding the product, I agree with other reviews it needs a sensitivity setting.
I would give this app a higher rating as it is extremely useful but it keeps crashing. Either it simply doesn't record my night's sleep or it stops way earlier than when I actually get up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice and that's not a fix. Maybe think about an update? I notice the last was in July of last year! Perhaps it used to be good but since they're not supporting it anymore, it went the way of Radio Shack. I'll revise my review if they can fix the problem.
