I like the idea of the app, but I wish there was a way to adjust sensitivity of the recording. If you sleep with a fan, expect no results!!! You can manually search through the whole night of recordings to find some stuff but other then that you're screwed.. love the idea of the app but it's completely useless as it doesn't catch anything basically. I even tried snoring purposefully, very loudly after I started it. The next morning it still didn't show up
Reviews for SnoreLab : Record Your Snoring
10.14.21 updated review: Very unreliable -- at least a couple times a week I get a message saying there was an error reading microphone data. So this is no longer worth paying for and I have canceled my subscription. If you're ok with it providing readings maybe half of the time, then maybe it's worth it to you, but not to me at their current price. Good luck! Original review: A really helpful app!
Very well done, well made app, easy to use with insightful information. I've been using it for over a week and have already learned a lot about the factors that increase my snoring. I didn't know so many things could affect snoring, I also didn't realize how many [alleged] remedies their are for snoring. As far as I can tell, so far, it's a near perfect app!
YOU DID IT, THANKS SO MUCH!!! I finally figured it out, pretty much stopped snoring! From heavy snoring all night to 1 or 2 snorts a night. The app really took out the unknowns. It told me what worked and what didn't. I spent a bunch of money on kose plugs and different mouth guards with no help. I recently found that I just needed to practice breathing through my nose. I started doing it on the treadmill in the gym and focusing on doing it throughout the day. The app told me results!
Bugs: I set max # samples to 20, but only got 5. Weaknesses: The free app is too limited. Only records a few samples a night, which can't be exported. Very unclear about what the limitations even are. But it seems like the trends are completely unavailable. Other frustrating annoyances: I entered weight into my session, but it wants me to enter it again into my profile. In my experience most free apps are useful as they are. This one seems way too controlling and limiting, basically just an add for the paid app, the price of which is above average for an app. The online documentation talks a lot about sleep apnea, something the app could be very good at detecting, but I see no analysis or even mention of it in the app, nor any notion that the paid app provides more in this area.
This app used to be great. Turn it on, lock the phone, go to sleep, wake up with result. Now, if you lock the screen, so you don't see a glowing cellphone screen the entire night, it won't record anything. If you accidentally minimize the app while it's running as you're going to bed, it won't record anything. I don't know why the developers think everyone wants their screen on all night. I can't turn the device upside down on a wireless charging pad. Make it an option or I won't pay to renew.
been using this app for several years. Over the past several months it has developed some bugs. Sometimes it would stop recording. At times it would fail to play sample. After having very high numbers for a long time, I am getting low numbers. Last night I got a score of zero. I was surprised so I listened to it and could here myself snoring even though the graph showed no snoring. I don't trust any of the numbers I am getting.
Overall it's a good app, but there are a couple of annoyances. First, when you start a new sleep session it retains all of your "factors" from the previous session even though they probably are different every night. Need to at least have an option to reset all options. Second, this thing massively drains the battery. Not even necessarily while it's recording, but well after it has finished. Multiple times I see it is using 16% of my battery later in the day, way after I stop recording.
Good but as other reviewers stated, wish we could adjust sensitivity. My phone will pick up cars driving by and even faint trains that are 5+ miles away. Once had my *quiet* ceiling fan on the whole night and woke up to 900+ saved recordings. What?? Also it will pick up my roommates entire conversations in the other room. Just make sure you set up your room to be as quiet as possible and you'll get some good results. I'd still recommend the app.
The free app was interesting, but showed only select periods of time. If you truely want to see exactly when and for how long you snore, the one-time $7.99 fee is worth it. The app picks up ALL sounds. At a glance it might look like you snore a lot, when some of the peak periods are just other sounds. On my nightly recordings I heard sounds of the house settling, the wall heater turning on, and the sound of a peacock that sleeps in a tree in my backyard screeching in the middle of the night.
