Its a bit steep to charge for the app as we paid $250ish for the watch. To discover an extra $5.99 a mth to use watch with the app was sad.this doesn't include the approx $15 monthly for a provider plan.(You need data too). I Think this will be a short term thing. costings are about $500 for the first year, then after about $180 a year. Please consider removing the monthly fees as you made us pay for the product, or at least offer a cheaper yearly subscription for a fraction of cost.
Reviews for Spacetalk
← Back to SpacetalkThe app works well overall. It would be helpful to add an option to customize location update (for example, I'd like to automatically receive a location once a day at a pre-specified time). Also, the Device Sharing doesn't seem to work, I've tried numerous times to send an invitation but both email and SMS invitations are not received by the family members I am trying to add.
The app itself is fine. Easy to navigate, with lots of useful features. We just find the reliability of its interaction with the watches a bit hit or miss. Sometimes it can take days for chat messages to deliver to the watches = useless. Often a few messages from days past will arrive at once. It makes no sense when they're in places with a 4G signal or at home with WiFi. If we have anything important or urgent, we phone. The messaging and chat are too unreliable. A real shame.
Rarely does the app update my child's location, I end up having to call them. would not recommend to anyone as it's so unreliable. my other child ended up with a phone because the watch tracking is just useless, which was the main reason we bought it which is pretty disgusting given the price of the watch/subscription.
Rarely provides location. I always get the message 'your spacetalk is not responding at the moment...' As others have said, it's very expensive for something that seldom works as intended. Regretful purchase. It's a great concept but still has too many wrinkles to iron out. I have 5 kids so, if it worked properly, consistently, I'd have bought another four. Edit: After tech support run their test they confirmed what I already knew; the device is a dud. Cancelled subscription. Find something else
App has a few problems. My children's locations won't refresh, even in service. Also when inviting another parent/person to the family it doesn't have a partners option. I'm constantly having to turn off devices and turn back on to reconnect them, also having to uninstall and reinstall to get the app working. Works for 5 mins and then back to error problem pop up. I'm over it. I spent heaps on 3 watches to keep an eye on my kids aswell as a 1 year subscription. Please fix this location problem.
awful. often does not show location and says watch is turned off when it is not. totally unsafe and not worth the $. I've had nothing but problems since I bought it and customer service is useless.
When the battery on the watch gets low you'll be spammed with warnings on the parent phone literally every second. It will render the parent phone unusable until you block notifications. The software is riddled with these sorts of problems. Wouldn't recommend this software to anyone.
This app is not usable. It crashes every time you open it. we just bought a spacetalk watch for our daughter which is now completely useless as the app doesn't work. Soacetalk seriously need to work on fixing their app before selling products associated with it otherwise its just taking peoples money for a product that doesn't work.
Deplorable, the app won't send the verification SMS to my number. I have tried 2 numbers by now and still nothing. Customer support was nothing beyond restart your phone, update your update, clear your cache. Never in my whole life have I encountered SMS verification that fails, let alone with 2 numbers.
Watch is good, app is terrible. Takes ages to refresh kid's location. My current main frustration is that there doesn't seem to be a way to add a parent to your family group if you both already have an account. Update 06.08.2025. I still can't add another adult to my family group. Also I had to replace my kids watch when it broke and I lost all of my kids existing contacts and detail in the process. I couldn't see a way to transfer his existing user profile to the new device.
constantly getting notifications that my child hasn't arrived at school... at 9 pm! says she's out travelling at 3 am (she's not), will notify that she hasn't left school, 40mins after she leaves. When I go into the app, to get a location, it just constantly loads. what the heck are we paying for?
Cannot sign up in the app due to an error. Unable to sign up on the website at all and troubleshooting has been unable to resolve issue. Have bought two watches for my kids and they are no use to me if I can't use the app.
My wife and I use Life360 and hoped to have an all-in-one solution for a family hub. Unfortunately, this app falls short of the fundamentals of Life360 because the location tracking is awful. Having a default of 15 minutes isn't acceptable, and 360 doesn't have issues in live tracking. I understand the watch due to its low battery capacity. In addition, geofencing needs a lower distance if the network allows it. I won't be purchasing the child's watch for these reasons
the update has made the location tracking useless. I doesnt matter how often you set it for location updates it doesnt work. It wouldn't update my sons location for 6 hours, he was in range and had service it simply doesn't work as advertised. frustrating that we purchase a product and it doesn't do as advertised. The thing is it use to work, reverse the update so that your product works again, I can see I'm not the only one with the same issue since the update last year.
between the app and the watch the watch hardly works. its not updating to the app. I've reset multiple times and still no location. The watch was purchased for safety but it doesn't work and refuses to connect to the app. I try calling it and it won't call even though its not on a locked mode. I'm paying the monthly subscription for phone access and can't even call or track my child. what a waste of money.
The app requires location access to work even though I just want to see where the watch is. I don't want to see where I am. The previous version was bad but this is worse. Also the app wants to invite contacts to the spacetalk app. What a nonsense. I want to track the watch. Not my child's friends etc. And no 24-hour clock available for adventure 2 watch.
I've been using Spacetalk for almost two years now. Overall I highly recommend it to parents that don't want to give their kids phones, but still want to be able to reach them. My biggest complaint is sometimes the tracking just won't load. It will say the watch isn't responding, or it will spin forever and never say anything. I have to close the app and restart it, and most the time that doesn't even work. My child has complained of it being slow, not loading & being difficult to text with.
The only reason I have this damn thing is because its a requirement. 1/2 the time location tracking doesn't work. 1/4 of the time I cant video chat with the app. Texts are slow at receiving and sending. And no, it isn't my carrier as we have full service + wifi. Tech support is little to zero for the previous issue I had with video chatting. If it wasn't for contact block and sos mode, I would never have downloaded it.
I find it a bit clunky to use. I am very happy with the strong parental controls. I am thrilled the device is a watch and hard for a kid to just set somewhere like other phones. Many reviews of the watch talk about it being difficult to charge. I find I need to connect the charger, wait 10 seconds, check if the light changed. It doesn't change right away, but if it has not changed after 10 seconds it is not connected correctly. However, a better connection would be an improvement.
