The app has a great concept. But I wish it were way more clear on what you are getting for free in the app. With that being said, I wish you were more transparent on the prices of the premium as well, even though they offer a free week trial. I was really hoping that it was a lesson a day situation to keep it free. That doesn't seem to be the case, it completely just blocks you out if you don't pay.
Reviews for Speak: Language Learning
← Back to Speak: Language Learninggood so far..I'm learning pretty fast. I have autism and a learning disorder so locking up languages is hard for me. right now I'm learning Spanish. I wish there were more lessons for Spanish. I also wish there was a quiz option, that would compile everything you learned so far into a quiz where you'd have to say the right answer without reading it. other than that great app.
Every few minutes, there's an error message that reads "An unexpected playback error occurred." If I exit the lesson and re-join, it will go away but it always comes back. At first it was just every few minutes, but right now it's happening just a few seconds after re-joining. Closing the app doesn't fix it either.
Its my first day using the app, and I already love it. Though, I do dislike it asking me to directly translate English to the language I am learning because personally it stunts my learning. However, the conversations feel natural and I believe it is one of the few apps that actually helps teach a language. Another thing I dislike is the slim options for languages to choose from, which I totally understand. I am hoping that they will add Russian in the future, but until then I will be waiting .
Paid version is great and so is the free version. Obviously, there are perks to paying but, even if you can't, the act of thinking about what you are saying and actually saying it *regularly* is something I haven't found as effectively in any other app I've tried. I still use my other apps to continue rounding out and building on my vocabulary but I struggle to put it to use because the words escape me when I need them. But since using this app I'm already starting to feel more comfortable. 👍🌟
I wish more apps were like Duolingo where you have to endure ads or you could choose to pay. This app would be amazing if there were a free option. Language learning should not be open to elite only who have money to pay for things. Very disappointing just how expensive these kinds of apps are. İf they were able to give a limited free option with something like ads or one lesson a day it would be much better for those of us who really want to learn a language, but cannot afford it.
I did the first free lesson and it was great, I see the potential but I am only able to do one lesson without the subscription. So for one anything talking about the free "version" there isn't really one but that's besides the point because they have a trial like most do. Problem is that any time I try to start the free trial so I can access the other lessons it simply spins and sits loading, doing nothing. It's not bad connection, it's not a bad install, it's simply not working.
You can't use the app aside a very tiny sample lesson. "Premium" means the ability to use the app aside from this very tiny sample at the beginning. They never even tell you how much it is unless you do the week trial. Too much switch and bait! So not getting Premium is not being able to use the app at all!!! ugggh.
the app is pretty good, I've been using doulingo to learn Japanese for a long while now, but it doesn't help me speak the language. The only problem is, I can’t continue my lessons. It keeps trying to make me pay for premium, just to go to lesson two. It's not fair that you have to pay to speak a language you wanna learn. There should be more options for free users, like maybe watching a few ads or something but still getting to do all the lessons.
The positives are It's a great way to learn a language. Saying the words over and over again will have you intuitively picking up the language. They also have streaks and point systems that keep you motivated to learn and even track thinks like how many minutes you've spent on the app learning the language and total sentences spoke. The negatives are it can be VERY frustrating because sometimes the app doesn't pick up what you say and is like speaking to a person hard of hearing.
While it's a great app for learning languages teaching you pronunciation and getting straight onto speaking and learning you can't actually learn a language for free, you get an idea of what you could get with the app with one lesson but when you try to do another it asks for a subscription. I would recommend different apps that do the same without the cost, don't waste the money.
This is really upsetting. I absolutely love this app. I was actually learning, pretty quickly. I'm extremely sad I have to give it up. I expected you could pay monthly (like usual) but its for the whole year. Good thing i moved my money to my savings a few days ago. Because this app tried to take $89 dollars out of my account. Also, it was supposed to be $83. They were charging me an extra $6.
So far, I've done 5 different lessons. I've tried many language apps before, but this one is really helpful. There are different options where you can change it to read in hangeul or romanization. There are other options like switching off the spoken response and it will do it for you, if you're studying on the go or just do not want to at the time, but will still continue. I like how you can repeat the words and phrases in their male and female voices, and it records yours so you can compare.
The pricing is way too high and you only get one 2 minute lesson to try before paying for premium. It's not really about speaking- it's just repeating phrases, which you do in every single language app I've ever tried. The ad I saw made it seem like you would be able to have full conversations with the AI, not just repeating simple words and phrases.
I would've liked to have been able to try this app but there are only 7 languages you can pick from. like wow. A very small selection of languages. It didn't have the language I wanted. This is the first time I didn't see the language I wanted in any app or program. I have always picked the same one language for years and years so I was surprised seeing only 7 options in this app. I hope an update happens cause they should broaden the amount of clients/users they could have.
Expensive app but probably the best one out there. I've tried a number of different language apps, but this one really does a great job of teaching you practical languages. I'm learning Japanese and I will say that I've learned more from this app than other premium language apps. I really wish they could bring the price down but overall it's great. I do wish that there was a pure flash card option but outside of that I can't really complain.
I love the app. You can go back to previous lessons to review, the feedback is quick and helpful, and even the support team is punctual and helps relatively quickly, as well as being very professional and kind. The reason why it isn't 5 stars, and my main problem, is how the majority of the lessons are for premium users. Only the first lesson is free. I wish there were more options for free users because I really like the app, but can't get premium.
I've been using this app for more than six months now. It's simply the best Spanish language learning app that exists. I've been "learning" Spanish for at least 25 years and even did a year of Baselang, but this app beats them all because the feedback is detailed and instantaneous. The AI is phenominal and language recognition is dead-on. In my opinion, the best way to learn to speak a language is to speak and be corrected in real-time. I can't wait til the French production version is released.
I like the teachers on the videos, but I find the app is not very user friendly. There are too many options instead of a clear path. Also, in one type of practice exercise, I constantly have to press a key to continue which is annoying when using the app while jogging. It would be better if the app would automatically continue when speaking into the mic to reiterate the dialog.
I like the app and all but the amount of times I had to restart a video because the mic wouldn't pick up yet I speak directly into the phone in a dead silent room. It's really aggravating to restart a whole video simply because the mic won't work. I also had to skip a part of a lesson because it's was for premium only which I most certainly DO NOT have that kind of money for. All I ask if for the mic to be fixed and for there to be lessons for people who can't get premium
