Anchor made podcasting easy. Record and edit right in the app, and then post it in multiple places. Spotify for Podcasters took that great idea, and completely destroyed it by eliminating all the ease and perks of use. Now you can no longer record in app. You can no longer edit in app. You can no longer add multiple pre-recorded parts together in app. This app now does NOTHING. I hope they'll realize their foolishness and undo this failure. They suggest using Riverside to record - also useless.
Reviews for Spotify for Creators
← Back to Spotify for CreatorsThis app 2 years ago, it was working perfectly, and I could record many small intros with zero issues. Now I have to resort to other apps to record and then send it to my podcast, when before I got into this app record and done. I loved that I could use all the small music intros that were in the app. It was really cool. Please 🙏 bring it back like it was 2 years ago.
I had never recorded a podcast before, and I'm only semi-tech literate. I intentionally wanted to go totally low fi on my podcast, using only the voice recorder on my Samsung Galaxy S9+ as my mic - just because I'm lazy and I want instant gratification. So I did some research, and Anchor sounded like a good match for me. It's incredibly user-friendly & simple to use. It makes the sound quality of my pod nearly equal to some of those highly polished and produced podcasts out there. I'm hooked.
So disappointed in this app. There's always some kind of a problem. It's difficult to change your podcasts link. No matter what you type in, it'll tell you it's already taken. You can't move episodes to a different part of your podcast, if you accidentally recorded and published it under a different episode file. The music feature is a little glitchy as well. Then good luck finding customer service. Great concept, that needs a lot of help.
I love that I can do everything from my phone. However, the recording with friends goes pear- shaped after a few moments. The voice tracks bleed into each other. Anchor only gives you one voice/audio track to edit from with the two voice tracks ALREADY mixed. So there has been a lot of unusable audio content sadly. One way I've been able to troubleshoot is by keeping the recordings short and just having multiple, short recordings. Even then, it's still not 100% effective. Otherwise it is great.
Great app if you want to upload your own podcast, i am finding it very useful to archive large audio files such as recordings that I will later publish as podcast episodes. However, it does not seem to have the capability to allow you to have MULTIPLE different podcasts, just only one. Which I find to be a huge shame, since I have many different podcast ideas i would love to be able to publish eventually. Please make it so that you can upload and manage more than one podcast and it'd be perfect!
Horrible. I can't record, I can't do anything in it but listen now. This really sucks since the really bad update they did. Horrible Horrible. I know of the update, and it wasn't a smart one. I'm now using a different app for recording my podcasts. I did love your app, but it was made harder. Someone wasn't thinking about the change in the long run. The recording part could have been left in. Whoever developed this change is really bad. Have them change it back or fire them.
The app is super basic, which makes it easy. Maybe a little too basic for my taste. I was very disappointed to learn that my bluetooth earpiece was not a device I could record from as it is a very high quality piece of kit that has excellent noise cancellation and HD voice capabilities. Who wants to hold their handset to their head (a la talking on the phone) to make their podcast episodes? I know you can use other devices to make your episodes, but I don't have other devices yet :(
It's a free ap so I hate to complain, but it's like youtube now where if you turn off your screen, the podcast stops too. This is highly inconvenient if you use your phone for podcasts and it's in your pocket. Also, you can't copy and paste for the episode description, and I swear my numbers fluctuate up AND down every time I log in... how can you lose a download? Anyway, it's not terrible, but has gotten a lot worse since the name and ap were updated a few months ago.
I love the idea of making podcasts with only an app, and Anchor ALMOST as all the features you could possibly want. My only issue is that while you can upload your own music, you can't overlay it while you're recording -- they have music and transitions for that, but you can't upload your own...anything you upload can only be played in between your recorded segments. Other than that, this app is perfect. Edit: Shortly after leaving this review, not only did I get a response, but background music and sound effect uploading was added. This app is all-in-one and everything you could ask for! 5 out of 5
Quick, easy, simple and overall great app. The sound quality is also good. Make sure to record in a place that has no loud noise. So far, no issue with the app. Sponsorship is also quick and easy to understand. You will get a script and bold statement will need to be said in recording. I forgot to mention that this is your one stop place for all your podcasts as they get upload it in all platform.
If you're just starting on a podcast and want to have a bunch of free features, this def could be a starting point. Most of the navigation is pretty easy and the quality is decent. Now, to the things I don't like. One, that I can't have video with my show. If I have the means that should be an option. Also, while there are sounds available, a lot of them sound somehow generic and cheesy, especially the "hip-hop" ones. They are free but, still. Lastly, the editor could really use some work.
I uninstalled this app because I lost all of my sound effects, all of my recordings, everything. my podcasts are still up but it's a pain in the behind to upload audio from other apps when I very literally found a better alternative. put it back to how it used to be, with sound effects and in-app editing and in-app recording! ever since they tried to do that partnership with whatever that recording app was, everything got screwed up. I wish we were back to Anchor. that was my favorite version.
This could easily change to 5 stars, but since the update you can't invite friends to record, if you have an android (I do) it kicks you out of the app. If you have an apple, it freezes and says "unable to connect." Me and my friends were just getting ready to start airing our podcast but now we're stuck because the app is going through some sort of glitch. Please fix ASAP
Used to love this app. It was the reason I started podcasting. It was easy and monetization was super easy as Anchor. Then Spotify bought it. No more monetization for me. But still, recording and editing was easy. Now they even took that away. Now I need to learn audio editing to record another episode. Anchor was great. Spotify for Podcasters sucks. Would love another app like Anchor but I don't know of one.
This app use to be stress free fun for our podcast, but no more. Our pre-recorded content, the library, the music (no music on Spotify?), and the ease of doing it all mobile is GONE! Now we have to go to Riverside and pay a lot of money to do what was fun and free and easy. My husband and I loved doing Organic Honey Podcast because it was fun and stress free. Now it going to cost us precious time, money, and added stress...not good at all!
Can't record in the app anymore. In the old version I could record, compile, and publish our podcast from the app. But noooooooo. Not any more. Now it's only a publishing and audience tracking app. Now I have to go to a 3rd party to record and my partner is not even on site. It was easy when we started with Anchor but now it's a mess. Thanks for nothing, Spotify.
Used to love it, and now they've taken away the ability to record & edit on the app. It was so much easier for me to do that, & I used sounds from their library to go into my podcast episodes. I can no longer do that with such an awful update. I have to do all the recording & editing with other apps, then upload that file. So much additional, unnecessary effort & storage space for more apps to accomplish the goal. How terribly sad. I may have to quit podcasting now. No time for the extra steps
So disappointed! Loved Anchor and have had a podcast on here for almost 4 years. Ever since Spotify took over, the changes have been awful. Now, my episodes won't even upload right. Contacted support, who were very nice, but wanted me to upload my episodes from my computer for troubleshooting - which kind of defeats the purpose of an app? They said that they are working on it but don't know a time frame of when it will be fixed. If not fixed soon, will switch to a new platform. Ugh! Hate this.
I have been operating, recording, editing and publishing a podcast for over a year on this app and the latest iteration you can't record, invite guests, and edit from the app any more. Spotify you NEED TO FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE It has been quite a bit better then it was and I haven't had problems for a while except for login and loading content. the last little bit
