Buyer be aware! Impossible to change your phone number, and if you are miraculously successful after hours of trying, they will immediately suspend your account following the change request crippling your business! They will then send you emails saying you need to call them, and then when you call, they tell you they can't do anything because your account is in review. I have been a paying user for 3 years, and today, my use of their services for credit card processing stops! No trust left!

It normally works well, and the deposits are soon after the transactions. My complaints are that the card reader often does not actually read the card. When that happens, and I have to enter the card manually, they charge a higher rate. It's not my fault the card is not being read properly, I don't think I should have to pay extra. Also, it charges the same rate for debit cards as it does for credit. That's basically overcharging for debit card use.

One problem after another. First the chip reader wouldn't connect. Then the app went offline so I couldn't even enter the customers card number manually (which would end up costing me more in fees). When I called the customer support line I got a message that said they were unavailable because they were offline, so try back later! Meanwhile the customer walked away and I lost hundreds of dollars in sales. Thanks for nothing Square!

I as a small business thought that this would be a great option. I did my first transaction for a small amount but it went through. Everything went great. The money was put on my card, no issues. I did my second transaction which was significantly higher and all the sudden they want to do a verification and put my funds on hold for 2 days which was on a Friday. So of course it was all weekend as long I had already given the product to the person that made the purchase. Terrible service.

Absolutely horrible. I accepted a credit card payment as my first transaction and they froze my account. My account went from $1,114 to 0, with no transfer initiated to my bank. 5 days later and they keep telling me they need more information. But only after I call and ask what the problem is. They want 2 days to look it over after every upload. I've had to update information 7 times and the money is still missing!!

As an android user, this app is almost more trouble than it's worth. I have been making deliveries using this app for payment with the magstripe reader. However, unlike with apple phones, the android version will often freeze right after the customer picks a tip, leaving me standing awkwardly at their door asking them to wait while the app takes minutes (even up to four!) before I can have the customer sign and they can have their order. Sometimes it even freezes the phone and I have to restart

Was ok prior to this new 3 step verification. No more just opening app plugging in reader and go. Now you have to jump through hoops to open it, or you can get a whopping 90 days before you gotta jump through hoops. Used this app for over 5 years. It never took that long to do a card payment...ridiculous! With their rates being some of the highest in the industry and now a complete inconvenience to use, I will be going elsewhere.

This was the absolute WORST financial app I've ever seen. I went through so much time and trouble to gather all the documents and verification they requested only AFTER I took payments and it was time to cash out. After sending everything over I got a message back saying they were canceling my account. I was in tears and stuck with the embarrassing task of returning payments and getting other forms. I lost sooooo much money messing with Square. I cannot warm people enough. Don't do it!!!

The app is missing one important time saver. Please add an exact amount button when tendering cash. This would save lots of time, especially when you're busy. 7/30/23: Response to Square. Quick Amounts is what you put for the product/service cost, not the amount given to you by a customer. You force me to enter 20.00 when taking a cash transaction rather than having quick buttons on the screen for "exact amount", $5, $10, $20, $50, etc., which are the standard US currency bills.

Customer service has automated responses. Despite entering my information correctly, I still got denied for cards. I can't deactivate my account becuase it was denied for cards. I have not had a positive experience with using this app. Going through the walkthrough, it actually counts that as a real transaction that can't be deleted. My account was denied even before I could enter bank information, but I entered everything in correctly multiple times. It eventually goes to no tries.

RETAILERS BEWARE!!!!! DO NOT purchase the square point of sale system if you have over 50 items in your store. It does not perform basic retail tasks like Quickbooks. And if you need help they charge you for it after you just paid over $2000 for their system and you have to pay them monthly. It's a joke. The amount of hours we have put into this system and the inventory is still messing up for no reason at all. Stick with Quickbooks.

Everything was great! I used the app with MagStrip reader MAYBE 2 weeks and suddenly, this week l tried and there wasnt an option for use. I've tried EVERY WHICH WAY to get a LIVE PERSON and not an automated system, and yet there must not be any humans that work here! They deactivated my account for no reason. No warning. No way to resolve any issues. And now my funds are on hold for 90 days and MAY NOT EVEN BE RELEASED IN FULL by the end of it. Not only frustrating, but also UNACCEPTABLE!

I've been using this for three years(at the decision of my employer, not me), and it's been an awful experience. The reader constantly disconnecting at the most inconvenient times, and you may think that you can just quickly reconnect it and it's no big deal, right? Nope. Once it's been connected and subsequently disconnected(for some inexplicable reason), it won't reconnect to the phone until the device is forcefully "forgotten" in the app.

horrible service, horrible security, horrible design and interface. just disappointed. it usta be great but what appears to be an attempt to keep up has flipped them to the bottom for me. I had a large payment processed. not only did they hang it up, after I returned it to the client and got payment a different way they continue to hold my funds that were already in my account. I have been locked out of my funds for over two years now. I verify I send documents. I call. I email. I'm done

This app is not as easy as it may seem to be, especially it's tap feature, there's a lot to just getting a customers information, to even charge them for your merch or service, and if selling merch, you gotta log it into the database inventory and all that is just too much. rather just stick to cash payments for all that, can't even use to pay my own bills such is a bummer

Just had the worse Karen of my life yell at me because the square system was acting up. The app said it was accepted and gave me the green check with the last 4 digits of the card, confirming that it was accepted, only to then reset back to the register with the same total. So went back to the trans history and sure enough, there was no charge. So had to ask the client to process the payment one more time, only to show to trans history. So I logged in to the website and sure enough, system down.

Would be great if it wasn't for so many bugs. Switched my business to square and I've regret it since. You can't create new clients at all, it forces you to import them from contacts which doesn't work half the time, and trying to create a customer in the app just gives error codes. Often invoices won't load or send, and the custom items rarely show up as theyre supposed to. Due to bugs it often takes hours to write an invoice with a paragraph in it

There's NO WARNING that we can't change the name of business or picture logo more than 3 times, so now the business name stayed WRONG!!! When I send a link to a customer for payment, it DOESN'T alert with an email that a request was sent!! When making a refund it DOESN'T VERIFY the amount before sending it!!! When making a partial refund, it shows the "TOTAL" amount of the transaction as "REFUNDED", not as partially refunded!!! And removed the ability to text with customer support!! 👎🏻🤦🏻‍♂️

Difficult to use. When I switch to the keypad, there is often an amount. I have to close and restart the app to get it to clear. My business is mobile. I have to charge tax based on the work location and type of job. I can find no way to accommodate this in the app. I usually end up clearing all taxes and charging the total calculated externally. I've already tried the suggestions and my app is always kept up to date.

I only am using the app on my android due to failure of my Square Reader, which was glitchy and quit working. Not only did I lose sales, but it was out of the 1 year warranty, so they told me to buy a new machine. No thank you Square! I will take my business elsewhere, high volume but low sales pushed the credit card average cost to almost 4.7%, No Thank You!
