Great App when first installed. Now, it's cluttered with all kinds of ads. Step counter used to offer easy Xs (exits) and other ways to close. These ways are no longer there. It's like we've got you locked in with no easy exits. It used to be such nice App to use. It would be nice to see the App take few steps back to normal and it's primary purpose.
Reviews for Step Counter - Pedometer
← Back to Step Counter - PedometerThis pedometer works better than most. Unlike other apps, Step Counter stays running (even with low RAM) and I don't have to open the app every time I walk to get it to function. Also, Step Counter shows calories burned based on my height and weight and contains features like video workouts for free. This app does contain an occasional ad, but doesn't go overboard.
Inaccurate I walked 300 steps while counting as I went. I ran this app at the same time as another. That app had a 4% deviation (287/300) and this had a 20% deviation (241/300). Both are off, but this is substantially low. Same phone, same sensor, same conditions, same time... they should produce similar results. Several hours later, the results varied significantly... First app 5867, this app 5372. I only counted 300 of these steps, but you can see how the deviations compound over a distance.
This pedometer works really well for me. It seems to be quite accurate and not only tracks your steps for the day but the total steps for the week in addition to tracking calories burned, distance walked and time it took. It's a great little device. One really great feature is the developers respect your privacy and will not go into your files!!! As advertised it doesn't use much power. I strongly recommend it to anyone who simply wants to know the aforementioned items it tracks.
I wanted an alternative to my fitness watch because I only care about the number of steps I walk daily, not workout routines or sleep trackers and whatever else they add to them these days. This app is awesome, and I like that it's straight forward and that I don't have to keep it updated with a separate phone app or sync it with my phone. It doesn't take up much memory, either.
Love this app! It's accessible enough to be there when you need it, but neither annoying or in the way. I like the comprehensive breakdown of personal preferences (gender, height, weight, etc) that allows the app to give feedback about stride length, distance covered, etc. You can also set daily goals for steps and water consumption, but it's customizable enough that you can turn off alerts if it doesnt suit you. Highly recommended!
Works like a charm, very customizable with the ability to set your stride and instantly see the effect on the distance already recorded. Comparing it to, for example, the distance recorded by the treadmill it is very accurate. The only negative I have found so far is that, when it is connected to Google Fit, it reports a ridiculous number of small walks about the house. Very easy to turn off that reporting though. Overall an excellent app
Lovely and accurate. I work in a warehouse and it's great to see how much I'll walk in the busier season. The accuracy is insane as well. I've checked it before and after my commute, using the forklift for some time, etc. and it's only incorrectly increased by a single digit number every time, even when the time period was close to 45-50 minutes before I could look at it again. Inaccuracy lower than 0.1% is incredible to get from this. Better than other paid apps imo
Was initially impressed with the accuracy. After 3 days of walking the same route, the numbers were of course different but, within reason. Now they are inexplicably all over the place. The very same route is calculated with as much as 1800 steps, 8 tenths of a mile in distance, and 20 minutes in time difference. I'm going looking for another app. This one is not accurate or reliable enough even if it is free.
11/22 This app is amazing. It helps me keep track of distance walked as expected but the other features is why I'm giving it a 5 star. The app also offers workouts for just about anyone. And even keeps track of calories burned, water intake, goals, and you can even set your own schedule in the app. Ads are present but at least they're not popping up constantly. Update: It's now 1/25/24 and I still love this app. I've lost 165lbs, gained muscle mass, and now I'm very fit and active. Great app!
It's nice and simple. A pedometer that keeps track over time, records daily walks, and gives you a rough estimate of caloric burn and mileage. It even let's you set goals and encourages you to surpass them by setting them higher when that goal has been met, motivating better fitness. You don't even need to have it on screen to count your steps either, making it all the easier to play music or YouTube videos while you walk. .I highly recommend giving it a try.
This app doesn't drain my battery and has fairly quite notifications, so I'm really enjoying using it to keep track of how much I walk at work. The only thing I'd like to change is being allowed to tailor the type of notifications. I enjoy seeing how much I'm actively walking, but I don't really need achievement reminders at all of my step milestones (halfway to my goal, halfway to the next achievement, etc.)
Almost a month into this app and I'm happy to say that this is more than just a pedometer. Pros: Fairly accurate pedometer (change step length in settings). Simple workouts and stretching exercises that are great for rehab from a serious illness. Cons: You have to wait around 30 secs for the ads to finish upon opening the app. Conclusion: Patience for free or only $10.99/year for the ad-free version. Highly recommended app for tracking basic health metrics. 😁👍
4-2925 it STILL reminds me during the day! What is the point of s SCHEDULE if it reminds WHENEVER??? 7-26-24Taking it down to 3 stars. Overall I like the app. The only problem I have is, I work 3rd shift and only on Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon so I set a reminder for THOSE DAYS ONLY. It reminds me ALL THE TIME. I'm not sure why there is a reminder if it's just going to remind me 7 days a week all during the day. I will give it a little more of a chance but it gets irritating and it's frustrating.
The pedometer works well but the video ads are way too long. I understand advertising comes standard with a free app, but I shouldn't have to watch a video ad play for 2+ minutes. You can't ever just quickly check your step count. Nope, instead you get to watch the play-by-play of some random gaming app. It's obnoxious and excruciating. Replace the videos with a still image, and it's perfect. Otherwise, I plan to delete as soon as I find a better option.
Works well outside of residence but doesn't count steps while at home even on the highest sensitivity. Also, there's no way to turn off the notification sound unless you remove the notification permissions altogether. Free app, and has motivated me to start using a pedometer. Given the hassle though, I'd say do 10 minutes of research to find a better option like I'm about to. Update July 29th 2025. No improvement on newer Android device.
Been using this since November 2023, it's beautifully simple and to the point. The user interface feels very smooth and intuitive, and it does it's job well! There's lots of little achievements and details that make it fun to pop in and visit just for the sake of it. Along with tracking steps, it also keeps logs of distance (in accordance to your stride length), time spent walking, and calories burned. Even with everything, it barely drains power at all, and dosen't need any wifi to work!
The app is simple yet effective, I've recently installed it, and it has shown great results. I recommend the app for anyone who wants to keep track of their steps. The app is free, and it surprisingly doesn't straight up throw ads at you. in conclusion, it's a great step tracking app that is free but doesn't have many ads.
This app is very inaccurate and inconsistent. It double and triple counts steps at times and then stops tracking altogether other times. I have tried both holding my phone as well as having it in my pocket and depending on which of these I use I also get very different results for the same amount of activity. This app is useless if you want to know how many steps you are actually walking.
does its job but unfortunately like so many, it is basically turned into an ad and pop-up app that also happens to count your steps and tries relentlessly to get you to give them more money and upgrade. They sneakily and strategically place the ads in such a place that when you try to back out, close or go to your home screen you hit the ad and it opens. anything you do seems to trigger additional ads and pop-ups. It's not unexpected but the way they are doing it is just slimy business practice
