They split the book into way more chapters than are necessary, then charge you per chapter. I paid around $11 to get 2/3 of the way through the book when they were trying to charge me more. I wish they just stated the price up front and let people decide how much they want to spent on these amateurishly written, non-edited stories. Also, they bribe readers for five star reviews by offering coin. Most of the good reviews are fake. This app is horrible, don't waste your time or money.
Reviews for Storyaholic-Novel & Fiction
← Back to Storyaholic-Novel & FictionI want to know how to get a hold of these people. I hate apps that don't have a number or anything to get a hold of if there is a problem. I paid to finish several books or be most of the way through a few, was waiting on updates. Anyway had to switch phones and downloaded app again with same email and Facebook info since that's what originally lol ed me to the app. Anyway, I went to reread one of the books I bought which was a series and it's asking me to pay again before can read.
Good story's but holy cow is it expensive!!! I could buy 7 brand new professional books for the same price as a single "book" on here. There should be a way to get away more free coins & make the chapters less expensive. My last complaint is it'll auto unlock the next chapter instead of letting you choose to unlock more chapters at once getting a discount. I have checked to see if it's a setting I can fix but so far I can't find anything
The stories are good. However I absolutely hate the reward system. When your trying to watch ads to get coins, you have to wait 2 minutes between each ad, and I assume you won't get the coins until you complete the number of ads it says. It gives vouchers but I can't figure out how to turn vouchers into coins. Please just fix the reward system.
The voucher process is rigged! I've been back and forth with them on it for a while now in the feed back and all they say is that the 2 is the highest probability to get do to it being a "random lottery." Yet when I first downloaded the app about a year ago I was geting a better mix of the numbers. The 2 issues just started about a month ago. The welfare points went from 12 to 1 as well. After my current book, I'll most likely delete the app, in favor of a better one. I. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND!!!!
The stories are pretty good. But the rewards are rigged. This app is crooked. If you are trying to not pay $50 for an unedited story the rewards act up. You DON'T get the rewards you earned, or there are no ads to watch to get rewards at that time. They are really pushing for you to pay ridiculous money. An example of the rewards..watch a WHOLE 2 minute commercial for 1 "voucher" It takes 30 vouchers for 1 chapter. You watch an hour of commercials to read approximately 4 minutes JUST DON'T
I have only had this app for 2 days, but I have had to quit the application several times because there was no way to close some of ads (even after the ad appeared to end 5 minutes prior). There was no x, no close button of any kind, and the back button did nothing. I wasted a lot of time watching ads and received nothing. Getting 1 voucher for an average of 10+ minutes of advertising hardly seems worth it. Especially when it takes 30 to unlock a chapter, and there are over 250 chapters.
Price to continue on to the next chapter is high, and chapters are short. Which wouldn't be such a problem if they made it easier to earn vouchers. There are never any "adds available" to earn extra vouchers or double your daily check in value. In order to earn the additional vouchers, you have to read for a specific amount of time....so you end up with multiple books going at once and you never have enough vouchers to continue reading them unless you pay a ridiculous amount of money per book.
Need better ways to earn points, and I'm sorry, but 1 or 2 points for sitting and reading for the amount of time I'd just silly. I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to stick around for the end of the oen book I'm reading. The turnaround on points is short, so getting it's aced up to unlock chapters over time is going to be challenging, to say the least.
This app doesn't charge fairly. I purchased 500 credits and then 1500. The latter purchase got me half the chapters compared to the first purchase. There is no wait to see how many chapters a story is or how much you're being charged for a chapter. Ultimately, this is a rip-off. I'm not going to read an online novel for the price of concert tickets. And I ended up finding the whole book on Amazon for $5.
So far, the story I'm reading is pretty good. It's keeping me interested. But, the reward system is terrible. Chapters cost 30 coins, but you only get 1 coin for checking in each day and the same for ads. While other sites will give you at least 20-30 coins for checking in each day. Plz do better. Looking to delete this app once I'm done with the current book in reading.
The Bonus Ads (up to 40 points daily) won't allow me to click on it (usually all morning), and when it finally allows me to, it stops at 10 point intervals with timed gaps between until I can start accumulating points, again, so sometimes it's still not enough points accumulated to continue reading. If I could finish all 40 points at once and finish my "points worth" of reading for the day & pick up reading the following day, it would be more convenient. I can't read during work, but can listen.
Don't let all the 5 star ratings fool you. The app pays users for a 5 star rating. The stories are written by amateurs, which is fine, but the cost is well over average. For example, they charge 30 cents per chapter, 80 chapters in the book, which is $24 for the book. Then you discover that 10 of the chapters are nothing but lyrics from popular songs. You are better off choosing any other story app.
The ad that got me to download said free reading with ad watching at the end of each chapter. That's not correct. You read to earn coins, then use those coins to purchase the next chapter. It's the same setup as one I just uninstalled...and I think it's the same developer, so no surprise there...yup came developer. Too bad, it was a good story. Uninstalling.
The chapters are to expensive. It's to hard to earn vouchers to continue. The translations in some are hard to understand. ( Not translated well) The one story I really got into and liked I found out was really short and then on the middle of the story they switched stories. So it was just a whole lot of little stories shoved together to make a book. So disappointed. I will be uninstalling. There are better reading apps out there.
It is an ok app. The prices are a little high for how short the chapters are, but for some reason all these apps are. And honestly there are some great ideas, but the authors have no editing skills and miss spell the same stuff constantly and do not have proper english etiquette. They don't care if they construct the sentences correctly, and don't use proper punctuation to show breaks, or proper dialogue.
If I could give it a negative rating, I would. These prices for a few chapters are highway robbery. Go to Kindle unlimited instead. Monthly pricing is less than 20 dollars and thousands of full books for free. This app makes you pay for coins for really short chapters, and you would end up paying a lot of money for a book. I stopped after the first 10. This is ridiculous! What a scam.
Stories are engaging, and amazing keeps you interested. However, the reward system is trash. Not only does it take forever to get a coin, but it doesn't have the system it used to have . After 7 days, the chapter unlocked. Now the wait is so long you lose interest OR you you're forced to use money to even attempt at finishing the story or you're left wondering. Lol
I like some of the story lines. It's frustrating to start reading a book that pops up on an ad and pay $80 for all the stupid chapters only to find it has no ending. All the time invested in finding out what's next only for it to be halted and left hanging with no information on when it will be updated. The cost is ridiculous. If it isn't finished there should be a discount. So disappointing. The shear amount of grammatical errors leads me to believe an elementary child wrote most of the books.
I'm giving it 2 start ONLY because the books are somewhat good. Some grammer mistakes, but other than that, they are a good read. The chapters consist of about 4 to 6 "pages" and are about 30 or 40 icoins or vouchers. They are super expensive too. No way to get any other than buying because the turn around time and what little they do give you in "free" (ads) is so small you have to use 4 videos to get 1 chapter. In my opinion it isn't worth it. Go to one you can pay for monthly & read for free.
