This is a really helpful app to keep track of my read books, TBR and books that I'm currently reading. I enjoy looking back through the stats and monthly and yearly wrap-up graphics. I love that it doesn't have much of a social media aspect, so I can read and review books as I want, instead of trying to gain likes or comments. I was going through a huge reading block when this app pulled me out of it.
Reviews for StoryGraph
← Back to StoryGraphI love The StoryGraph! It's the best way to track what I'm reading, find reviews from other people, discover new books I'm interested in, see what my friends are reading, and get statistics on my reading habits. I love the challenges, tags, graphs, everything about it. And they're constantly adding to and improving the app based on user feedback! I've been using it daily for five years and I couldn't recommend The StoryGraph enough.
Man, I want to fully ditch G**dreads and use Storygraph exclusively but I can't quite bring myself to do it. Not yet. The app is nice but the lag time when opening or loading content when searching/refreshing is brutal... up to 3 or 4 seconds sometimes of just a white screen. I also wish there were options for a social feed similar to GR as I have found good recs from friends' reading and just generally like keeping up with that stuff. I truly dislike Amazon but can't commit to fully ditch yet.
I love the app when I can get on there, but I just recently had to change devices. I forgot the password and did a reset, but it keeps saying either the email or password is wrong. It would help when you typed in your new password if there was an option to see what you're typing in case you hit the wrong button without realizing it.
I love it! it can freeze at times if you click too many things at once (e.g., going back and forth between reading challenge and home page), but just waiting 2 seconds as the app does it thing doesn't take away from the overall experience. one quality of life function that would be cool to see in the future is being able to link Storygraph with Libby so then my progress is automatically updated or lists synced. just imagining the coding, however, I have no issues if this never comes around.
This is a very nice app and I will continue to log finished books to support them over Goodreads. I stopped logging daily when I discovered the edition of the book I was reading did not have the correct page numbers and was going to be "finished" before I was done with the actual book. there is no easy way to change editions or all my past logs, so I gave up. I do wish the graphics were a little nicer and the app was a little easier to navigate. can't wait to see where you go with it though.
Looks like they may have finally fixed the lag. Gonna give it a few weeks, but maybe I can finally delete Goodreads. In the meantime upping my rating to 5 stars. I like most things about the app. Stats are really nice. Biggest issue with is was lag/slowness. If that's fixed the only problem is no one I know it's on there. Maybe now I can convince them to switch.
I'm a really loyal and enthusiastic advocate for this app, but I'm really considering not using it anymore. For the last year or so it just does not work. Crashes mid-entry, so you have to force quit and redo everything, it hasn't loaded the homepage for me in probably 8 months, it just does not work anymore. I'm so sad because I literally tell everyone to download this app, but unless stuff starts getting fixed, it's just not worth the inconvenience factor anymore. Used to be so good 😥
I love this app, I love being able to keep track of what I read and I love the graphs. my only complaint is that on the monthly "calendar" graph the lines showing when you read a book are often the same or extremely similar colors. I wish the colors were more different the way they are on all the other graphs!! other than that this app is perfect :)
Love the app and I've switched over from Good Reads. Works great and is much easier to track your progress with. Although sometimes it won't have the version of a book I'm reading at times and takes a while to update even after I upload a picture of the cover. I only follow one person so I'm not sure what the "social" side is like, but I appreciate the way it recommends books and what to read next.
I've been using this app for years on and off because my reading is on and off. And everytime I pick reading back up it's one of the first things I make sure I still have on my phone. My only complaint is that it has a way for you to track your page progress through a book, but it doesn't have the reading timer. it's such a small gripe, but it leads to me having to use StoryGraph along side another app purely just so I can time my reading sessions and how many pages I read during that session.
I really enjoy this app because it functions similarly to Goodreads, but it isn't owned by Jeff Bezos, which is a huge plus in my book. I took away a star because the UI is not very user friendly in my opinion, and could be significantly more intuitive. For example, it can be quite difficult to figure out how to add friends, and the scan barcode option is very laggy and sometimes unresponsive for me. I'd like to see this app blossom into what I know it can be.
Installed it today so it's not my final rating yet. The first thing I noticed is that when you have a list of books, you can't see reader ratings next to a book unless you go to the book's page, which is unnecessary friction. If I'm scrolling through a list and have to click on each book to see its rating, I'll give up and go back to Goodreads. And I don't wanna go back to Goodreads because I hate Bezos. Should be relatively easy to incorporate, no?
I loveeee this app! It's so easy to track the books and the reading journal is a nice feature that I use heavily (I write summaries of the chapters I've read to help re-asorb the content). I would love the reading journal to have a "read full entry" button just because my entries can be long so I'm constantly scrolling through 😂 It used to be slow but I've noticed significant improvements to the loading times of the app so I can finally give it 5 stars!
This is the app that got me back into reading because of how easy it was to track progress, add my personal thoughts, share ideas, and discover new finds! Pairing this with my regular library visits has made me remember why I loved to read! Thank you for a great app; those free book giveaways are pretty sweet too. :)
I like having an app that isn't owned by Google or Amazon for this kind of thing, though being tied into Amazon's data does have advantages. The "percent read" function goes by all pages in the book, including endnotes, acknowledgements, & index. I want to know how far I am through a book for the main content because I often read new releases from my library with one-week turnarounds. This gives false percentages and can be confusing. I'm not reading the index, for example.
Such a fun way to track my reading progress and keep track of the books I want to read. I love that it splits up what I read into categories, that it asks specific questions when you finish a book, and it's so much more in depth than I first thought! Support independent bookstores and this woman owned app!! It's fantastic!
EDIT: The bugs have been fixed, and the app is now working great! Abandon your other book tracking apps! I love this app. Way better than Goodreads in so, so many ways. I had to take a star off because, at the moment, the app is pretty glitchy. It will freeze, navigate incorrectly, and just generally be a pain. Still way better than anything else (Goodreads), but definitely needs more bug fixes.
I like StoryGraph BUT, it's lag time to open is killing me. I feel like is sit staring at a blank page for way too long. other than that this app is a delight to use instead of using Goodreads. I just wish the AI generated description of a book came second to the one the publisher made. I really don't care about AI generated feedback on a book.
This is 10000 times better than Goodreads! The design of the app is very sleek, it shows me stats about my reading (I LOVE stats) and it has very comprehensive reviews. The two only things that bother me a bit (not enough to lower the rating) is that it sometimes is a bit slow to load the screens (few seconds) and that it's a bit cumbersome to find the list of your read books. I'd also love if it worked offline but I understand it's not simple to do
