So here's my honest take on Sun Surveyor (Sun & Moon). I've tested a bunch of photography planning apps and this one's pretty solid. The augmented reality features are super cool and make it easy to plan your shots. The map and compass tools are also really handy. That said, the interface could be a bit more polished and intuitive. And it can get a little overwhelming with all the data at times. But overall, it's a great tool for photographers and filmmakers who need to track the sun, moon, and stars.

Pros

  • Tons of useful features for photographers and outdoor enthusiasts
  • Augmented reality overlays show exactly where sun/moon will be
  • Interactive map with street view for scouting locations
  • Predicts golden hour, blue hour, sunrise/sunset, moonrise/set
  • Free to use, no paywalls or excessive ads

Cons

  • Interface can be a bit cluttered and confusing at first
  • Steep learning curve, takes time to figure out all the features
  • Occasional bugs or crashes, not the most polished app
  • Might be overkill for casual users just looking to track sun/moon

Description

Been using Sun Surveyor (Sun & Moon) for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that takes the guesswork out of planning your outdoor photography. There’s a bunch of cool features like augmented reality overlays showing you where the sun and moon will be at different times. You can use it to predict golden hour, blue hour, sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset – super handy for photographers and filmmakers.

The live camera view is probably my favorite part – you just point your phone and it shows you exactly where the sun and moon will be in the sky. There’s also an interactive map with street view so you can scout locations ahead of time. And the 3D compass is a nice touch, gives you all the info you need in one place.

Look, if you’re into photography or just planning outdoor activities, you’ll probably find this app really useful. It’s not perfect – the UI can be a little clunky at times – but overall it does the job and I’d recommend giving it a shot.
