Reviews for SuperChinese: Learn Chinese

I've been learning Chinese for a few years now, and have used other materials, such as HelloChinese and Yoyochinese. I find SuperChinese to be the most engaging and useful Chinese language learning app. The premium version is well worth the money. The vocabulary is continuously reinforced and the stories are animated and engaging. Best app out there for learning Chinese!

Excellent app, I've been using it for almost a year, and there's a huge variety of different modalities to learn through -- I haven't even been able to take advantage of them all yet. It's also extremely rare to encounter any kind of bug or typo, and I can see they are consistently adding and updating content. Well worth the subscription, the developers clearly put a ton of effort into the overall experience and the AI that gives you feedback on your speech down to each syllable and tone.

Update -1 star. The beep sound after the user enters an audio recording is too loud. Can't use the app with other people close by or in quiet environments. Really annoys people to the point where they ask you to leave the room. Initial review. So far I'm really enjoying learning Chinese with this app. It's not easy, it really challenges you. Update:

I just started but it's teaching me in the style that I learn. I can see AND hear the words and there's a picture. Learning how to pronounce the words correctly is also a great feature and getting graded on my pronunciation helps me move forward without as much frustration. I will come back after a while and revise my review if I see any snags.

This has become my "go to" for learning Chinese. Each lesson builds on the next. And I also appreciate that each lesson is taught in such a way that you're learning vocabulary and grammar, and not just random keywords and phrases without understanding the language itself. So, it teaches you in a methodical manner vs a memorization of keywords. I'm very pleased with my purchase and will continue to use this going forward until I am fluent. 👍

A lot of free content but... I feel like it wasn't well put-together. Here's an example: it asks me who's taller, but it doesn't say who's who in the picture. So I'm left guessing and likely will have a false answer. While this doesn't happen all the time, it happens frequently. Plus there's no way to review grammar or vocab like with Hello Chinese unless I log in and create an account. What if I don't want to log in?

There have been a lot of updates to the app recently that are really well done. However there are still some faults. One time I got penalized for having a grammar question wrong on a structure they hadn't taught yet. Sometimes when I get things wrong it is not because of the thing they said was wrong. I would like more translations into English so that one can see what the meaning is supposed to be. And more.

Baically, for beginners. There is some useful stuff in the app, but even the highest levels won't get you above upper elementary/lower intermediate levels. They also need more lessons (under development, they say. Hurry, guys, I've finished 7-8). Some of their English translations are atrocious, but overall, it's a good app, especially for lower level students.

Very effective and fun to use! I've tried a lot of apps over the many years I have been learning and this one has been the most useful and the easiest for me to be consistent. I really like the dialogues that teach me about the culture, work environment, and current events, as well as improving my language skills. Though I am now moderately fluent, my Chinese friends noticed improvement in my pronunciation. My 80 year old mother is now using the app to start learning!! Highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful app. I love how there is an option to gather coins through doing the lessons and spend them to get the premium feature if you are not able to buy it. I like how it gives pictures, stories, and lots of examples. Vocab is repeatedly shown and reinforced. The voice recognition is also quite exceptional. My only suggestion is that maybe the app could add more training for writing the characters. Other than that, I can't wait until they come out with the next levels!

It's the best language app I've used outside of Dulingo. Lessons are small enough to be done during a lunch break, but are cumulative, and by building off each other they help you pick up the language. The images are cute, and the example sentences have a good range of complexity. I've only used this for a month, so no, I don't know Chinese, but I can recognize a few characters and the AI that analyzes your tones is really useful to improve pronunciation.

This is the best Chinese study app I've tried. But recently the app has become very frustrating to use (so minus two stars). There is a bug where recording frequently fails and the message "Sorry, we are experiencing some issues with this recording (0)" pops up. This happens even when I am NOT recording! If it occurs while entering Chinese text from the keyboard, it deletes all my text! It is very frustrating and tedious to use the app like this. Please fix this so I can put 5 stars.

Overall a good app for learning Mandarin with a few caveats. Good at teaching you vocabulary and short phrases. Here are a few cons compared to similar aps: 1. There is a lack of clear explanations of the grammar points. 2. There's no way to bulk review words & phrases. Whether I pick smart review or review all it always only tests me on the last 5-10 words I learned. 3. Cannot be logged in to your tablet & phone at the same time. Every time I use one it automatically logs me out of the other.

I have tried a few other Chinese learning apps. This one is by far the best. I already clocked in average 1-2 hours a day for 2 weeks It kept me engaged. The lessons are targeted for practical use everyday language. I write down the sentences, practice pronunciation and also practice writing the characters. Grammar lessons are super helpful. I get all these things without buying premium version. Since it is so good. I might buy premium version later to show my appreciation.

This is the second App I use on an almost daily basis to learn Chinese. Just like the other one, I bought a yearly subscription and I am not regretting it. I like the animations, the way you can review almost everything in a different way and the fact that one can't just skip lessons. One has to follow a logical path to learn everything step by step, instead of just doing this and checking that, just like a "real" teacher would steer your learning, in my case the ones on the Domino Chinese website. Great voice recognition too, not like other apps...... I tried so many other apps and in the end I kept only Super Chinese and another app. No games and/or single word learning like other apps where you basically just waste your time!

The training is great, especially the speaking training. the AI pricing is too steep. It would be great if we can use the collected coins to exchange it for AI sessions. The lesson review is too rigid. I wish I can do a lot more customization + search function. Ideally able to change the word traffic system, for example a word that I am not familiar with is 'green' I wishes I can manually change it to 'red'.

Best Chinese learning app that I've tried, but it does have its issues. The expectation for listening to and understanding Chinese conversations can many times be unrealistic. I'm only using the free version as the trials of the Texts feature do absolutely nothing for me as the conversations go too fast. I'm not sure what else comes with the paid version. I would also like a concentration done on pronunciation. I pick up the correct pronunciation for most, but others I never get right.

This is a great app to catch up your old Chinese you learned from school by drilling it in different ways, and have plenty of room to learn more. It's measurably improved my Chinese while working at an airport. My one suggestion, I'd love the option to favorite words or phrases you select from a sentence so you can create your own vocabulary list of things to work on. Since many times you will find new words you won't officially learn until later lessons.

It's very laggy for what it offers and for the cost. There are better apps out there that offer the same or more without the UI issues. Also, the customer service is practically non-existent. Even here... they'll just ask you to log back out or clear the cache as if that's not the first thing you already do when there's an issue. I don't recommend this app or paying the subscription. Look elsewhere. This app is almost good. It's just not there yet. And the customer service needs work.

The app is actually really good for learning Chinese. the only potential problem with learning is that the judgement of the quality of your speech may not be accurate, as some native speaker were getting low scores on the app when I shared it with them. I'm leaving a 1 star review because they offer a discounted subscription plan if you buy it within the first day of making an account. The app was dysfunctional and did not let me pay with WeChat, so I told customer support, but they didn't help
