Using the trial, didn't have too much issue with routing. Voice directions however - sometimes it's good enough that I never need to look at the screen. Sometimes it's incessant about turns to the point that instructions interrupt my music only to not even finish a sentence while I'm pulling to a stop sign or turning - why not just 'ding' at that point? On one occasion I was reccomended to add a gas waypoint, I chose to try the feature but then couldn't delete waypoint and had to re-input dest.
Reviews for Sygic GPS Navigation & Maps
← Back to Sygic GPS Navigation & MapsJust don't do it... Even if it's the only map your moto nav will work with, it's not worth the frustrating ux or draconian pricing. Pricing from 2010 - "hey, let's find a way to use "Value Add Services" to differentiate pricing tiers - but let's make them things almost no one needs and attach them to actual navigation. Oh, and then, if they switch platforms, we'll charge them to get something already free in app. We can come up with a bunch of confusing names, they'll never know. So much $!"
I have Premium Plus. I like the interface and the turn by turn directions. But I'm very disappointed with the database of business names & locations. I tried searching for a hospital, a gas station, and a restaurant. Sygic couldn't find any of them. When I searched for a store, Sygic "found" a location that closed 6 years ago. I'm in SE Pennsylvania.
Seems like it might be OK, but shows spam notifications. Ads are one thing (though I really don't like that you get multiple ads when trying to load the app, a big problem when trying to quickly navigate somewhere, especially when driving), but I get enough notifications without getting random ones pestering me to use this app. I'll use it when I need to go somewhere. Or not, since I'm uninstalling, because I'm not paying just to NOT have an app spam me, not to mention running when not in use.
It seems like it may be an okay app, if every little piece didn't cost an additional $4, $5, or $6. But that's not the reason that I am deleting the app. It is constantly sending me the reminders to purchase the additional options. I can't find any way to turn the 'reminder' notifications off so I would rather just delete the app and use Google.
I used this for personal navigation. I do not drive in a fleet. This app used to work with Android Auto. Now you want to charge me to use in Android Auto. Pass. BTW, when I paid for the app, connectivity to Android Auto was not part of the premium package. You try to make me look cheap? You look cheap. You changed the service. I didn't agree to the change. That's dishonest and fraudulent I want my money back.
Switching to a subscription model is a killer for me. I paid a full price for the app and a lifetime world licence. Now they want to charge me every year for the app that crashes, leads to wrong locations, and is terrible at searches. There is a better business model: charge a fixed price once, give updates for the app for 1-2 years, after that offer upgrade pricing. Subscription makes you lazy. You can just sit back, reply to reviews with a lot of apologies, and do nothing else.
The few times I have had to use this, it is wrong. First issue I ran into is many city names are wrong. It shows streets that don't exist. Speeds are pretty much 90% wrong. The only place they have been correct is on the hiway. I have entered addresses and I end up a few blocks away. A lot of addresses I have tried you can't find because it does not know the city name, it uses a subdivision name. Over all very unhappy I bought this. The truck version is slightly better but still has many issues.
One of the worst app experiences I've ever had. When it re-calculates a route, it takes a wildly long time and then never seems to adjust to new circumstances, instead just trying to force an unworkable route no matter where you drive instead. Also, the voice directions update you on the expected time of a delay ahead maybe once a minute? That's far too often and incredibly annoying. It was, for me, a complete failure.
Ok, but not there yet, especially when there are free options just as good if not better. It put my home address in a different town completely when I added it 🫤. Navigation was as expected from using other systems. Some of the lane guidance was very iffy, especially at some more complex junctions or where there were multiple lanes, and had I not known the route, I would have taken wrong turns, including a train station access road. Is it worth paying for? Not yet.
It's nice. I like it. I also like the 3D geometry of the landscape, I wish it could exaggerate that effect. There a lot of hills where I travel. It's smooth, no jitters or freeze ups. Recalculates route quickly. The menu items and text need to be bigger for Android car unit. I need to find an easy way to enter multiple locations. I would like an icon to show posted speed limit, next to live GPS driving speed.
The app works as a stand-alone program on the phone. Connecting to Android Auto is a different matter. The app connects to Android Auto, and then I get an error message, and it disconnects. I informed customer service about this issue, and they responded that until others send in complaints, they won't be looking into the issue.
If getting lost is your goal, try Sygic. It's specialty seems to be weirdly unnecessarily complicated and inaccurate navigation. My last session was a 9-mile, essentially straight line and it managed to route me along a path of about 13 miles, a lot of it turning the wrong way. Also, it doesn't announce freeway exits by name, only exit number...which is difficult where I am since the exits often don't have marked or easily seen numbers. I expected more from a pay to play app.
I already paid don't need your constant notifications about selling me the caravan extension. It's infuriating but not worth 1 star alone. What does is the map quality. I don't drive a lot but already had 4 times when it wanted me to drive onto nonexistent or under construction roads. Then instead of turning off at the next highway exit it wants to take me for a 50 kilometer detour. I like the UI but this just makes it unusable.
I have been a Waze user for several years but lately I have found it to be unreliable. sometimes the directions take me way out of the way, and other times it takes me to the wrong address completely. I trialed this app to replace Waze, and it worked well during the trial. So, I paid for a year's subscription. After using it for a month I have found major issues with the app. Quite frankly, Waze is much more reliable. I hope the reliability improves because I really like the app.
They often have server problems. Updates become problematic. Even though the maps can be stored in external storage, the application takes an incredible amount of internal storage. (It takes over 37 GB of internal storage! Why don't they rewrite the app so that it can be installed in external storage?) Since I'm running out of internal storage, I may have to remove it. The maps are obsolete and items are often positioned wrong. I have high speed Internet. It takes over 2 days to update maps!
Very nice app. My wife and I like the 'rest stop' feature on our long road trips... Same with the interesting feature about going around turns of different curves... I sort of wish the "continue" button when setting up a new route would autostart after 10 seconds... More than one time I've set up a destination and started driving, only to find the destination and navigation was ended because I was too busy to hit the continue button...
Used Sygic for long, works well. Years ago paid for a lifetime license with voice navigation, lane guidance, etc. which still work on the original device. However, when I put the app on my new phone and signed in, all the bells and whistles are gone, it's just like the free version. Contacted tech service by email, they said those features have moved into Premium. What good was paying for a lifetime license? Don't pay for extras, just use the free version, because the future isn't guaranteed.
Finally having to drive more frequently, I decided to start using it again. The Premium+ nag screen is frustrating. I'd bought a lifetime Premium plan and Lifetime Traffic a few years ago, but it seems to have been hobbled in favour of subscriptions and I can't seem to find the Traffic licence listed anymore. Rude. Does not make me want to use it out of spite.
I wish I could recommend this app but I just can't. In general, it's okay and good enough to get me to purchase premium, but there are so many basic UX blunders all over the place that have slowly grated on me over time. Please focus on usability, actually listen to your customers (I'm expecting a generic "email us with your concerns" response to this, for example...), use your own app to see how annoying it is day-to-day!! For now, you've lost a customer, unless you really change things up
