Reviews for teamLab

Cool exhibit, but skip the app. Usually didn't work, and even when it did seem to work, it was basically impossible to tell if it actually affected anything. Good idea though.

Rubbish, it never knew where you were so in places where it "allowed interaction" you could not do so, to be fair this did not detract from the art works themselves but would have been a nice touch.

Used it in teamLab planet Japan quick to download simple to use however was having hard time finding certain exhibit even when i was next to them some of them took multiple attempt some worked only on the other ppl in the group app but not on other at the same spot

For teamLab Planets, can't say it added anything more to my overall experience. With teamLab's artistic talent, I would at least expect this app to help me take better pictures for the exhibits. Barely necessary.

The teamlab event itself is great, but this app is completely useless. The room detection does not work at all, which makes it unusable, since it spends it's entire time trying vainly to locate where you are (both with national network or with their wifi).

just doesn't work even on their wifi

It didn't work the entire 3hrs I was at teamlab Borderless. It remained stuck at the splash screen every time I opened the app, except once. One time I got past and it had a few intro cards... But then I locked the screen and never got it back.

interactive element doesn't work

Queue function doesn't work

coolest place! good for all!

Absolutely stunning art. Just. Absolutely. speechless.

Was nice to read about the exhibits and interact with them as we went. The app connects when you are in each exhibit and does take some time to connect to each exhibit so be patient. Sometimes it picks up immediately, sometimes you wait about 10 minutes. But that didn't seem too bad considering you'll be walking around amazed :)

I cannot attest to the negative reviews because the app worked great. I don't think anyone else used it though, I was the only dude throwing butterflies up during the "sit down and watch projections of flowers" exhibit. Love both the art installations and the app. Use common sense and you will be rewarded.

App does not recognize artworks, is very slow and does not really add any value

The app itself works. Not great but it works. The free wifi is slow and spotty, the 4G network is saturated and/or has bad reception. The detection of nearby artwork is also struggling to detect what is around you. Some artworks, even when you get to interact with them are pretty confusing. So, my advice is to not bother with this app.

android app straight up doesnt load anything while the apple version functions, I guess Japanese devs are incompetent at real development

Terrible app, mostly because it never really knew where you were. Sometimes it would figure out the exhibit you were next to, but only if you were in 1 spot in a large room, and if you moved an inch it would lose you. Very much detracted from the amazing experience of both Borderless and Planets, and the idea you'd be glued to your phone in these exhibits strikes me as kind of antithetical to the message the art wanted to convey anyway. 0/10 would not recommend

this app did not work at all during all of my time at the expo, despite rebooting my phone, using network or wifi.... there is no physical explanation at the expo, so would expect at least to have a working app. very disappointed.

App helps by giving a live map, with localization. it also mentions the names of the artworks and gives some pictures. Nevertheless, the info is limited and it crashes a lot. after the exhibition it is useless and can be uninstalled

The experience is generally good, but it's best to avoid visiting on weekends and during Eid. The staff are tough & unwelcoming and often raise their voices. Expect long queues and limited parking, you may be asked to park far away in the sand with the promise of a shuttle service which rarely arrives, leaving you to walk under the scorching sun. Many of the activities inside not functional, but this is only communicated after you've entered and become stuck in the crowd, where air conditioning
