Sometimes the app doesn't connect to the car right away which prompts me to have to reach in for my key card. It'll connect to audio but not unlock sometimes. This can be frustrating especially in the rain. Otherwise, great app. Would love to do more from it. It also wouldn't allow me to turn off my valet mode and I had to restart my phone for it to finally recognize and connect with my car.

There's also features that I read "are available" but then I realize that it's only available on IOS For me I want to see my at home charging stats, but can't do that unless I check the car right after charging. If I don't check right after and try to charge again -- poof -- data "gone" Really sucks to have less data in what is essentially the beta of electric cars.
The home page of the car service category no longer shows upcoming service appointments. What a dumb change. The app doesn't even give you notification of service appointments among many other things that it should. Miss your appointment? The app will quite literally block you from using any of the functions for your car saying your car is in service, even though its not in service or even at a service center. The app is also slow to respond, which I feel is less than ideal in 2021 for such a high tech cutting edge company. I do like the ability to swipe between car and energy but it stops there.
The idea is great, but functionality is very lacking. Most of the time it takes WAY too long for the car to "wake up" (frequently longer than the timeout on my phone screen). It just sits and loads for what feels like forever. This is a real inconvenience when you're trying to actually get something done or get your car warmed up/cooled down before you get to it. Often I try, but end up arriving at the car wondering "what was the point of this feature if I can't use it?
So disappointed with the recent update. Old version was so clean and easy to understand. New version can't connect when I have a cellular connection, says "no connection to the internet" when I actually do. I lost the ability to track power outages. Apps and data load more slowly. I do like how the main screen now shows home power usage instead of having to click once to see it. I think that's the only improvement. App is perfectly functional when connected to Wifi, so I guess I'll give 2 star
For a company as big as Tesla, you'd think they'd be about to make an app work properly. I use mine only to control my Powerwall 3 with the solar panels. Time to export the power? Simply click on 'Time based control' and exports to 'everything'. With this app however, it often just reverts straight back to 'solar only' so you've got to keep checking it and clicking 'everything' again. I've just wasted an hour's worth of power export due to it reverting back. Ridiculous.
Great app overall. Messaging is totally messed up now, you can't see the message you type at all and whether you read messages from appointments or not it keeps indicating that there are unread messages. Will be great if you have a quick shortcut button from the drop down icon to heat the car, it's theoat used feature when I bring the app.
I would like to suggest an option be added to the Scheduled Departure function. Currently one can schedule a departure time for either "All week"or "Weekdays". I would like to see a button added for "One time". There have been a number of times that I've set a departure time that I expect to use only once, and then forgot turn it off. Until I notice it, the car will unnecessarily pre-condition itself at that time every day.
The new in-app messaging is nearly unusable. 1. No matter what, the app constantly tells me I have unread messages from the service team, even after I have read them. 2. When typing, the keyboard covers the region where you type. You cannot see what you are typing. 3. When you click "messages" it takes a long time to load. Please let us use our phone's default texting again like before.
Schedules. Nightmare. I've had so many failures with these. Missing cheap electricity or worse not having a charged car. I watched like a hawk as I just configured this one. Turned it on (so easy to forget). Went to the home screen to see when it will start. It didn't update. I went back to look at the schedule. It reverted itself back to the previous day and time. I set it again. It did it again, I forced a refresh and finally it set it to what I wanted.
Impossible to login. First problem was when creating the account. Autocomplete filled my data and the chosen region was Sweden, everything looks fine but I couldn't push the next button. At the end I found out I had to write Sverige. No error, nothing. Then one may think you're in, nooooo you have to login manually and of course they send you a code again. I put the code, it loads and then it asks me again if I want to login or create an account. I tried several times, no way to login. Great :/
Great App. It has everything I need in one app. I can access features in my car with ease, protect its battery, set security with minimum button interaction, also handy when you need your insurance card and insurance coverage, and lots more. Comes in pretty handy when you get old like me. One time after leaving a concert, I forgot where I parked my tesla and use the app to find it. Easy peasy. The app also gets updated constantly to make it even better.
The app does what it's designed to do, and it seems to be reliable. 5 stars for that. But, it's the GUI of the charge stats that is terrible. More control needed. Most people live with other people, who want you to pay for your KWH. The electricity company doesn't read the meter on the 1st of the month. You have to hold a day to get data from a day, and only while you hold it. Make that clickable. Make the calendar a searchable, like your bank does for transactions. Make the data exportable.
Still using Samsung Note 10+ and some of these comments with newer phones, I don't get as many issues. Yeah, it sometimes takes a while for clips to load, and cameras don't activate or pixelated at times. It works most of the time. Sometimes, I have to awaken my device in order to unlock the door when I pull on the handle. Other than that, a great app works like the BMW App, with more features and services. So much information at your fingertips.
The app doesn't maintain a proper connection to the car. When I attempt to open the doors it doesn't recognize my phone. I have to turn off Bluetooth and turn it back on for it to detect my phone. I have looked at location settings, I see that the option for the permission "Allow Always" doesn't exist. It still doesn't work and I complained about this here for months. OnePlus 12 on Android 15. I have reinstalled the app etc. Still not working.
Phone key works 50% of the time. If I reset the phone key while I'm next to the car and set it up it always works, so it can connect but good luck knowing if it will work when you get next to the car. I play this game at least twice a day now. Been this way since I've had this phone (6+ months). Other app functions are fine including climate controls and what not.
5 stars generally. But on my latest phone upgrade to. on my pixel pro 10xl and wife's the app is no longer unlocking when the car is approached. It as if the app is not running in the background and need to manually open the app and press the unlock button, then it's ok. I'm sure it will be fixed eventually, but wanted to make this issue known.
I'm rating it to 3 stars because of smart summon requiring a GPS lock to work. While I understand the reason for this in theory, in practice it requires standing outside for most buildings in order to get decent enough signal (with view of the car) in order for it to work defeating the purpose of summoning in poor weather etc. Makes it super aggravating to use, even several people I've showed it to calls the feature gimmicky as they watched me struggle with getting and waiting for a GPS lock.
Disconnects constantly, doesn't update the status, or the current battery level. It does show that it is charging but doesn't update the charging percentage. Shows it was last seen days ago, when I use the app to lock/unlock the car multiple times a day. All the controls work just fine with little to no delay, so that is good. That is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
App keeps crashing and fails to communicate with the car, open the car, and start it. Brand new S25 Ultra. I even factory reset the phone and configured everything fresh. Still failing. Update 10/7/2025: app doesn't crash anymore, but now relentlessly chews through my battery. I'm talking an entire charge from 100% to 0% within hours. really disappointing because, ya' know, it's my car key.
