So here's my take on Texas Hunt & Fish. I've tested a bunch of outdoors/hunting apps and this one's pretty solid overall. The core features like license management and harvest reporting work well and the UI is easy to navigate. The maps of public lands are a nice bonus. On the downside, I've found the app can get a bit buggy at times and the design feels a little dated. But for a free app from the state, it's pretty good. If you're a Texas hunter or angler, I'd recommend giving it a try.

Description

Been using Texas Hunt & Fish for a couple months now. It’s basically an official app from Texas Parks and Wildlife that helps hunters and anglers do stuff like report harvests, access public lands, and manage their licenses on the go. Pretty solid app if you’re into hunting or fishing in Texas.

Here’s what you can do – there’s a place to connect and display your hunting and fishing licenses, which is handy. And you can also digitally tag any game or fish you catch and report the harvest, which the state uses to manage animal populations. It’s got a few other features too like maps of public hunting areas. Took me a while to figure some of it out but overall it’s a useful app.

Look, if you spend a lot of time hunting or fishing in Texas, you’ll probably get a lot out of this. It’s not perfect – there’s a few bugs here and there – but it does the job. Worth checking out if you’re in that scene.
