The fact that I can't even receive ANY type of activation code makes me want to uninstall. The app is slow, there are too many ads, I can't even see when I've sent my messages and the Bluetooth function for calls doesn't even work unless you reconnect them. That makes it completely redundant!! It won't even show you what the YouTube links being sent to you is. It could be kittens, it could be cringe. Don't install this app, you're better off finding another one.
Reviews for Text Me: Second Phone Number
← Back to Text Me: Second Phone NumberIt's nice to have a free alternative to paying the high cost of a regular carrier, and I have used this app for years! But, the clarity of the calls is sometimes poor, and the person on the other line can't hear me, even with a strong WIFI signal. The ads constantly "jump" on the screen, so when I press a function for a call, I end up pressing on an ad. Also, the screen does not unlock or pop-up when there is an incoming call. So, I have to unlock my phone, drag down and answer the call.
First of all, every time I restart or turn my phone on I'm getting the same old notifications saying I have completed my registration process. I can't get around on the app at all, won't let me change to where I wanna go in the menu at all. I wouldn't mind the permissions if I could just move thru the menu after accepting them in order to send a simple text. I can't even do that. The app freezes constantly and can't even even send a text message. I rarely complain about any app and have tried most of the free calling apps in the playstore. . . none of which are high on my list. But this one needs some significant improvement. It's like I'm trying to use it and i can't. The bottom line is, its frustration I haven't the time for.
The last update was horribly horrendous for free users. If you have an older phone, don't even bother. Trust me it will freeze constantly and quickly drain your battery. However, if you pay to have the ads removed and don't cheap out, it's actually ok. I've been using it for about 10 years and years now and since I upgraded my phone and paid for unlimited credits, it's decent. UPDATE 6/22 For some reason now when I make outgoing calls, I'll get a pop-up ad when I hang up.
I'm being billed monthly for this app, yet the app logs me out every few days. Now I go to log in, and the app is giving me an error message about wrong username or password. This username and password are stored by Google and worked in the past. Now I can't use the app. Customer support reached out by email and had me reset the password. I was able to log in after that. I revised my star rating to 3, from 1.. Still too many ads in something that I'm paying for.
Paid weekly subscription. Frequently logged out of the account. I could be using this app while working, but I have to log in just to continue my work after switching apps. My app is always up to date, so why haven't you guys fixed this bug? It's been an issue for almost 3 years. Update: Reported on three of my devices, 3 years, no response. Update2: logged out again after using text/calls. No notification for incoming calls, but everything is checked. I'm done. Canceled.
First of all, there is apparently no free option. if you choose a phone number, it appears that you must subscribe in order to keep that number for more than a month. Then, it appears that every call or text costs "credits" but it's not clear how much calls or texts cost before you must buy more credits. Of what I have said here is incorrect in any way, it is only because the developers are so bound and determined to get money from you that they have neglected to make these points clear.
This is useless if you need to use this to get a verification code. They want you to pay for their premium subscription in order to do that. 7 dollars per week?! Hah! Anyone who takes 5 minutes to do their research will find an actual legitimate line for less. My mint mobile phone bill is cheaper. Their free trial asks for your card information in hopes that you'll forget to cancel it after you get done doing what you need to do. Also, ads will pop up with no warning and cover the entire screen.
There's no way to send feedback in the app. It just goes to help articles on the website. There is no message icon on inbox page. You have to add to contacts before you can send a text and send from contacts list. Full of ads, but quiet. Payment options seem ok. There's no way to earn credits to use for free, so why ads, then? Works on Wi-Fi. It's a maybe, not sold.
It was working fine for me until out of nowhere it wouldn't let me send any messages due to "strengthened security measures." So annoying. (Edit) Now I have to buy credits to keep texting, and I don't even receive calls anymore. Takes too long to open, really bad for when you're in a rush, and there's ads every time you click something. Very annoying.
The ads move around the screen, jump around, cover conversations, and glitch out (trying to get you to click them fraudulently). The app crashes for no reason. Half the time I pick up a call, it doesn't go through. The app doesn't separate texts from calls, so it's impossible to keep track of conversations. The app logs you out, so you miss calls. The app needs you to use it every 15 days or it deactivates your number. This is a disaster of a free messaging app; there are far better options.
I just subscribed to the premium plan which included no ads, and I'm still getting bombarded with ads. At the moment it appears that I am able to make and receive calls, as well as SMS texting, but because of the continuous ads, I'm also unable to determine whether or now my phone number is secure. It wasn't the reaction I was hoping for, especially with the ads. :-(
When I first downloaded the app, it was telling me that there was already an account with my email. But I know for a fact that wasn't true. My email is basically brand new and even when I logged in through the website, it showed my correct email picture but it didn't allow me to do anything with the account. And the app won't let me login at all or even send emails to change the password.
DO NOT SPEND MONEY IN THIS APP!!!! I got scammed!! I was texting fine and suddenly TextMe froze my SMS privileges and told me to buy credits. turns out I didn't have to purchase ANYTHING because the credits are for international texts ONLY. so they froze my texts to force me to spend money! Google play is on their side too! but that's how this app and so many other apps makes their money. by lying to us and scamming us out of our hard earned money for no reason at all. be careful!!!!!
App worked fine when first setup. Paid for premium immediately and now texts won't send, calls cannot be received or made. This was all within less than an hour of use. I cancelled the subscription for the month, but it won't refund what I have paid. I logged out of the app to see if that works and now I cannot get back into the app. Would hope tech support or customer service can refund the full subscription since I cannot use the app.
I've had this app for over 10 years. Lately, they're into some pretty sketchy stuff. I've cut access to certain apps. Yet, if you try backing out, and tap on an ad, it automatically downloads apps... Pandora, etc. I've not given access to them for this, nor permission to make changes to my phone. Google might need to investigate the legality of this. Partnered apps, as well. It seems like a class action suit type behavior.
This is a low rating despite the stellar service. Let me explain. Text Me is an easy service to sign up for, with free high quality calls and texts. Everything you would want from a service like this. However the app is abysmally slow and stutters constantly. 50% to 70% of screen space is ads leaving a small window to navigate. Video ads are long and frequent. It logs you out making it inconsistent or useless for incoming calls though it's so slow, I've never been able to answer a call in time.
I use the paid version. does exactly what I need it too but utterly unreliable. Worked fine for about a year then stopped allowing outgoing calls on my Android phone intermittently. Works on my iPad most of the time. Set up two customer service tickets but they always try to push you to the app or FAQ. So far no help from CS.
It's nice and I like that it allows me to text people. However, group chats don't work for me. Everytime I try to send a message in a group chat the message only sends to one person, and one grop chat gets seperated into like five. This is really frustrating. I also don't like that when I read my messages it won't get marked as read unless I click out of the chat then click back in multiple times.
absolutely false advertisement. says free literally in the description but absolutely doesnt give you that option. Just when yoire good to go, it shoves a bunch of promos in your face to keep the number. yeah sorry, but if youre looking for a free number app, this one isnt it. ignore the headache and the frustration and move onto the next. you'll thank me for it.
