This app is very functional and easy to use. In the realm of free sms and voice apps. this one ranks very high beucase the adds they show for the free version do not require you to watch more than a few seconds. The only drawback for this app is that calling minutes are limited. You will need to earn or purchase more once you run out. 4 of 5 star recommendation
Reviews for textPlus: Text Message + Call
← Back to textPlus: Text Message + CallThe WORST texting app. Messages won't send 9 times out of 10 regardless of your wifi or cellular data strength. Quite annoying to sit there and keep restarting the app just to try to get 1 message to go through EVERY TIME. Do yourself a favor and download literally any other app. This is the worst one I've ever used. Nothing sends. If it does it comes up minutes later and says "not sent" so you get to sit there and fight with it.
Eh...it's an ok app. But ads are lagging crazy and when your low on credit...don't make arrangements for important calls. I did 3 offers for credits and still yet to get them. I had the app as an extra when I can't pay regular mobile bills...I had used the number for a job and I can't find out if I was selected due to no credits..(reason for two stars). So I had to download another free calling app to follow up.
Sometimes the app is slow to respond when hitting the answer button when receiving a phone call, even on fast devices with high speed internet (800mb/s) No picture/video messages can be recieved/sent in standard format. Phone number is not accepted in many situations. OTPs can not be sent to textPlus numbers. But, the app is constantly be improved, so there is a bright future for textPlus. Looking forward to when I can give 5-stars!
Can't get a phone number. I signed up and verified my email address and everything, but it won't let me register a text plus phone number. I've tried multiple different states and area codes. All I get is an "oops check your connection" error message. But obviously I have no connection issues or else I wouldn't be able to post this or download the app in the first place. So maybe TextPlus is out of phone numbers? If so then the app is useless to me. Too bad, this app used to be reliable.
I've used this app as my primary number to text/call for over 10 years. I've only used free version. It's been great until last year. I stay bc I'm hoping they will fix the issues. Here are some tips: check ur texts after a couple hours, to make sure they went through. Go to "calls" to see if u missed any. Often, my phone doesn't ring. Watch the videos to get credits for calls. Toggle from mes.'s to offers a few x' when u get spinning wheel. Not all site's verification codes work when sent.
Great app for when my regular cell service wasnt working for a few hours. I can use my wifi network to send texts. If someone doesnt want to pay for calls the app gives you a few minutes to start, but then I can also let ada play through for credits. There are other ways to earn calling credits, but I just didnt check them out. Great app in a pinch.
To be fair, the phone calls are clear and go through just fine. You have to buy minutes, but texts are free. The reason for the 2 starts is that the contacts part of my app won't work no matter what I try. I've visited the help pages and followed the instructions, 3x. Still won't work. I put in a work ticket w the company (only way to reach them) and never heard back about it. So, I use a different app for texting, where my contacts are easily accessible, and I use this one for calls. 🤬
Half of the time I can't even make a phone call! It'll dial out and then just sit silently while it says "connecting" and then NOTHING!!!(And YES, I have credit for calls) How frustrating! Especially when I have perfect wifi service and connection. I'll give 2 stars only for the messages part of the app. It's the only thing that works the way that it should. I receive my messages (at least as far as I know) the way that I should and ppl receive the messages I send to them. (As far as I can tell)
No longer works. Tried getting a new number. All I get is a screen reading "Oops, something went wrong....." I contacted the support, tried everything they suggested. Nothing worked. I finally reinstalled on all devices, and it won't work on any of them. I must uninstall. If it ever gets fixed, I'll be back. It was a good app when it was fully functional.
Terrible application. Cheap. You get what you pay for. You will spend more time seeing "Error 503 & 504" and "Kerfuffles in the call factory" than using it to make calls. Often calling won't work even when your WiFi connection is superb. When contacts call you, you will hear it ring sometimes, but will never be able to pick it up and answer, because the application freezes. I honestly would write a review without a star if I could. Customer support is poor as well, no issues were ever solved.
After comparing options for a temporary means of communication when my phone died, I downloaded this app. Honestly, I am pleasantly surprised! Outgoing calls to cellphones appear to be cheaper than to landlines, incoming calls are free, missed calls are shown in notifications. There are various add-on options, such as removal of ads, etc. I highly recommend giving it try. *Just keep in mind, it relies on wifi.*
Worked very well for 2 days then quit working. Rebooted phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Doesn't work. I've used this app off and on for many years. Not sure what happened with the current version, but it does not work. I'm on a paid subscription, so that's especially annoying. Do not pay for this app unless you test the free version for a few days first!
I use this app because my parents don't want to have to pay for another phone line (our carrier is Verizon so it's really expensive). At first this app worked quite well for the first two years or so. Recently starting last year, it's difficult for my messages to send and even if they do send, sometimes the receiver can't see it. In addition, some parts of long texts can't be seen from this side, and they started making me pay for calls (??). Overall pretty crappy and works only 20% of the time.
The app has continually gotten worse since I've gotten it. Calls won't go through, like it won't ring when I try to call people. or when someone calls me or i call them they can't hear me. So I have to hang up and try again. And if that doesn't work, I have to clear cache and data and restart my phone. It shouldn't be this hard especially since I paid real money for minutes. also if I make more than 2 calls in a row it just won't dial the numbers anymore until I clear caches and close the app.
Honestly this app isn't worth even using free. The ads are crazy an pop up when you're try to do something at the worst time. I've tested it at the 1.99 per month no ad experience. It seemed fine until halfway through the month I started getting ads again almost as frequent as when I didn't pay. So more recently I upgraded to the 4.99 a month plan where there's no ads and a couple other things. Really all I care about is the no ads. I'm still seeing ads. This app totally rips you off and lies.
for 3 months I've installed and reinstalled only to continuously get oops something went wrong pop up when I try to get a number. it's not my Internet connection bc it's superb. It's nothing on my end, clearly, due to people reporting the same thing and it goes back several months that this has been a problem. I don't know how this hasn't been resolved but it's not on the customer's end. there's nobody fixing it bc its been an issue too long. y'all need to reach out to your support team, not us.
Don't install this app. For many years, I've used this and the ads were not intrusive. I ordered the AdFree option and all was good until a couple months ago when all of a sudden my AdFree subscription was no longer listed in my account. (It didn't expire either.) Now the ads are full-screen videos and sometimes, audio cannot be muted. Every time I open the app to send or read texts, I'm hoping that the ads don't play too loudly. Customer service could not reinstate my AdFree subscription.
When getting a number it says "Oops - Something went wrong. Please check your connection and try again." My connection is perfectly fine. So fine, in fact, that I could write this review without a single problem( aside from my terrible spelling). This happened after recently downloading the app, so it isn't a problem with the app version or anything like that. FIX YOUR APP( also yes there are a ton of ads.)
if you're looking for a calling/ texting app to utilize a different phone number, then keep looking because this app tries to steer you into a membership and when you decline and proceed to accept their "free" text number, it prompts you with an error stating there's a connection issue. I've tried all of the recommended troubleshooting remedies and I'm getting the same results... very classy. A free trial would have most likely obtained my membership. Instead you get my lucky 1 🌟
