This is still a very good messaging app. Totally customizable. My only issue is that you cannot archive conversations like on Google's messaging app. That part is pretty important to me and if it was possible to do that I'd be using Textra more often. Edit:So 3 years ago I suggested an archive feature like Google messages has. I was told it would be taken into consideration. Apparently it's not important enough cause it still hasn't been added. I'm no dev but is it that difficult to add that?

I don't know what happened with this app. But I no longer receive all my messages specifically in groups. lately Im getting the "Failed to send" notifications for texts, mms, pics, emoji replys. This happens regardless of wifi, cell network (att). I switched back to my organic samsung messaging app and all issues were immediately resolved. I have the paid version and using a newer model samsung phone.

Textra has been my favorite SMS app for a couple of years. it's beautiful, adaptable and smooth as silk. Imagine the best texting app you could ever want then throw that away because Textra is better than that was. Very colorful, easy to use and full of surprises if you go into the settings page. you'll get to change just about everything if you want. or leave it alone. your choice. I like being able to PIN texts to the top, so I don't have you go looking for them. it's great.

Really do love this app. I've been using it for years!! But one thing still lacking is sending video clips. I still have to go to my Samsung app to do it. If i use textra, to send a 30sec clip...its all blurry. I've even compressed the clip and even then it loses the quality. This would easily be a 5 ⭐ app if they could improve this feature. It's 2025...i need to be able to send quality video clips and do it quickly. .

thought this was THE texting app... reviews made it seem like it was the best option out there, and everything seems to work great! even the ads aren't obnoxious. but I've missed so many texts. I'm just not receiving them. if the app has customizable colors but can't even do the basic function of texting, it's a 1 star from me. putting my relationships on the rocks!!

Used app for a month because of not wanting to use Google when Verizon app shut down. Premium subscription. Not crazy about the app, but it mostly worked for me. Until this week when I changed a setting to not send on Enter. Closed app, and reopened when I got a text, and all of my data was just gone. Tried to sync, but nothing. Now it has randomly stopped syncing and/or not sending. As much as I'm not a fan of Google, went to their messaging app without issue.

What a great experience. When Verizon discontinued their very adequate SMS app, I scrambled to find a replacement. They were attempting to force me into Google Messages, but that is a deal breaker. The only thing I'd change is the contacts color coding. Either they are all blue, or the app picks a color, but the colors always change. I would prefer an option where colors stayed with a contact based on their alphabetical first name. Such as, A-D is always orange, etc. Awesome app!

Best 3rd party texting app I've tried by far. Been a pro supporter for years, love all the new features that have been added, basically everything with navigating the app is perfect. I really wish they'd be able to update to use RCS though, because I find that there's times I'll just not get a text, or messages won't be sending especially in group chats, and I'll never know. The "delivered" message doesn't seem to work properly in that case texting other Textra users. Still highly recommended.

I used to love this app. Have used it for YEARS. I have been having so many problems with it over the past month. I just found out that I wasn't receiving text messages from several contacts. I thought there was a setting on my side or maybe they all had the same carrier. Nope. I switched to a different messaging app, and I suddenly got about a thousand text messages that I had missed over the past week. Many were about work. It was Textra. Very disappointed.

Great app. Much better then others and definitely better then the default texting app. Have used it for years now and it's continued to improve. (Updated 2025) Unfortunately I have to change my rating, I recently discovered I wasn't receiving a bunch of group messages, which I only discovered because I switched over to a different app to mess with something. I received close to 150 missed messages in a matter of seconds. I'm not sure when or what changed, but the messages go back a couple month
