Been using The Criterion Channel for a couple months now. It’s basically a movie streaming service that focuses on classic, independent, and international films. Pretty solid app if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you do: you can browse their curated selections, like Sunday Spotlights on directors or themes. And there’s also a 15-minute film school called Observations on Film Art, which is pretty cool. And you can watch their Friday double bills – they pair up two movies that go together.

Look, if you’re a movie buff who’s into the artsy, cerebral stuff, you’ll probably love this. It’s not perfect – the interface can be a little clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want something different from the usual Netflix/Hulu fare.

So here's my honest take on The Criterion Channel. I've tested a bunch of movie streaming apps and this one's pretty unique. The selection of films is really impressive - tons of classics, foreign films, and indie flicks you can't find anywhere else. The curated programming is great too, it's like having your own personal film festival. But the interface is a bit dated and it can be tricky to navigate sometimes. And the monthly subscription is a little pricey compared to other options. Overall though, if you're a cinephile who wants to go beyond the mainstream, this is one of the best specialized streaming services out there.
