I can't imagine a easier way to purchase auto insurance than through The General's app. You simply tell them your zip code, year, make and model of your car, the type of coverage you need and instantly you're given a quote, they even offer instant price comparisons with other national insurance companies. You are also given a few flexible payment options, all with low down payments and monthly installments. It's literally that simple, the entire process took me about 10 minutes🙋‍♂️

I usually pay my bills through the app and paid my renewal premium 3 businesss days before it was due after constantly getting an error and told my username and password were not found I was able to get in a day later. So now I'm trying to get in to the app and website both to get my renewed policy docs and both are down. This is horrible when you say you streamlined the app and cleaned it up so I'm thinking of switching insurance if I can't access the company who writes my policy. Terrible

I haven't used it (the app) much so that's why I only give 4 stars. But I do really appreciate the option to be able to cancel auto pay. It seems that a lot of things you can't opt out of automatic payments when you're first starting out. It's just easier for me to make manuel payments. Also, right at my 6th month anniversary as a new driver, my premium has dropped by $65.00. So I am super excited cause I feel like I'm already paying way too much. So this is really cool! 😎 But so far so good!

Th app is pretty helpful. It even gives me split payment options. Has not failed me yet. All payments go through on time. I only said four stars because it's almost impossible sometimes to get my notifications saying that The General app is running in the background to go away. Other than that the app is GREAT!

We have had the General for awhile (years). And the app is pretty simple to use, except deleting and adding vehicles. That was a couple years ago and I think that was one of the bugs that was worked out because I just did that recently and it was a lot better and easier to use. We've liked the General since we first got our policy, even with the little mishaps.

The app has no easy way to submit the documents they requested for proof of who is being covered and who is not in the household. I also tried to submit proof of a not-at-fault accident and have been unsuccessful with submitting that as well. The customer support when I have called are nice enough but either don't know enough or haven't been properly trained. Customer support is also very slow to respond. I am unimpressed.

Easy, quick and convenient way to get insurance. There are a few fees that I think should be eliminated such as a policy fee and an installment fee but otherwise everything is explained in detail and easily understood. As with any insurance, prices are higher than they should be. But, overall great understandable customer service and easy to manage.

Account creation and login process is horrible. Went to log in and entered my policy number and was told I need to enter my password. Never was asked to create an account before so didn't have one. Tried signing in with Google and it didn't work. Told me to make an account so I did. After creating an account, tried signing in and it gave me an error. Restarted the app and went to sign in. Again, it said no account exists. Took me over 20min of my life to figure out how to get in: use password

Wont even download, its been swirling for a half hour, i turned my phone off & on, downloaded another app in under a minute, what the heck!? Even worse is the reason Im trying to download this app is because I was online signed into the general & couldnt edit my policy coverage, it kept stopping up- that -General was having technical difficulties- everytime I got into my info & about to start the new quote- NOTHINGS WORKING! GRRR! I tried to call but its closed of course. Should be 24/7 C.S.

Good app. could be a bit better though. I notice that I have to enter password 2-3 times for it to log in. It is same password that I type over and over, so that is a little annoying. So to avoid that, I went ahead and started using my thumb print as a way to log in. So much easier. But if the print wasn't on option on my phone, like it is with so many phones, then others are probably having that issue too...Also paper copies should be an option.

I've had this insurance for 4 yrs. they were the cheapest, by hundreds. The next year price went up almost $800, and same the next year. Even had policy paid in full after some issues were Partially resolved the next yr. I really liked easy sign in esp finger print. But this yr tells me my policy lapsed can no longer access it. Also could not get due date changed so I could use auto pay. I could not sign in at all to make payment. I eventually went thru website to pay since Nov. Lots of issues

The application is easy to navigate and The General has great customer service, including the automated features. Instant results when looking. I only gave the app itself 4 stars though because the PDF file doesn't open in the newest form of Android 8.0.0 on my device and had to call instead to get the proper file sent via email. Like stated adove, it was instantaneous so no, harm no foul. If the file opened directly from the app though, it would help out more so in case you're pulled over.

Rating the app itself; very well made and easy to understand. Simple payment options, easy to access ID cards and policy numbers. I give 4 stars because the call numbers they have connected to the app don't seem to work and immediately hang up on you if you call them. There is a way around that though with the "Schedule a call" option. Other than that, very well made!

I can never log in to the app. It always says either my email, policy number and/or password is wrong. But I know it's not. I have been trying to log in for WEEKS now. Uninstalling the app and reinstalling doesn't help. Can't go to the regular website either because it brings up an error. I saw that in a previous review, someone was having an issue logging in, and they got a response that it was no longer an issue, but IT IS! I'm very frustrated with the whole thing.

This app is horrible. It never lets you log in either with a password or a fingerprint. Resetting my password I put in my email to receive the link and it goes grey but never sends me the link. The website instantly gives you an error message like the company doesnt even exist or something. The automated system sends you in circles and if you do manage to get a human on the line they try to charge you a $7 convience fee which in my opinion is RIDICULOUS.

Move away from this app and start accessing your account from the web browser. This app requires you to update it every time they release one or you will not be allowed to log in. As a car insurance app, there is only a few reasons you would do this. The main one is because you are planning to use the gyroscope and other sensors of the phone to monitor driving habits (to potentially charge you more) -another is so you can prevent screenshotting with security policy.

not good service. been treated horrible. not recommending. I had it for less than 4 months and all I got was more frustrating . And going around in circles. I found a good insurance that is way cheaper than the general. the auto insurance I went with, good quote and and know what is there to offer. Trying my parents off and calling getting paperwork to get them was a nightmare.

its an ok app. it would definitely be a lit better if every time i go to login i wouldn't have to get a verification code even though I have biometrics set up in the app. why is there no option to select "remember this device"? edit 10/8: why do they want my contact info? as far as that feature goes, how hard is it for the app devs to add "remember this device" you're making it sound like it's above their expertise.

Absolute worst app I have ever used! It freezes constantly, takes a week to update, doesn't have your account info by default (you have to put in your policy and wait), it has ludicrous security measures where it sends a stupid code, the fingerprint scanner constantly freezes... I could go on all day. This app is absolutely garbage, avoid this company.

app is easy to use. hard to understand the billing though and what it all means. worst part about it is u get a quote for a certain amount and think its great, only to find out that it has gone up even before first payment is due. gave 2 stars because atleast the app is easy to use and has your insurance info readily available if needed .
