gee thanks for resetting all my customizations back to their really terrible blue sky defaults. yes, I haven't used the app in a while. I'm guessing it was a app update that blew out my customizations. the app should mimic normal thunderstorm effects upon installation/default settings. put a demo mode in if you want to show off what the app can do. also, put in a function to backup user's customized settings so when garbage like this happens, one can simply restore their customizations.
Reviews for Thunderstorm for Hue
← Back to Thunderstorm for HueI love the app but I must keep pushing the button on the Hue bridge every time I use it. I live in the basement and the bridge is upstairs. I read a similar review from someone else.
Works and will sync lights (flash all at once) to thunder. Great level of control, customisation (intensity, light selection, volume, background rain, background sounds etc). Tried several others and nothing compared.
Do we really need to have a Hue Bridge for this app to work? Just spent $40 on a Philips Hue bulb which works great via Bluetooth but it order to get a thunder storm effect (which is what I really want), do I actually need to shell out more $ for a Hue Bridge!? Seems like that's what the app is looking for and can't find/won't progress since I don't have a Brige
I kind of like the idea. but have a few questions. 1. the frequency of lights doesn't match to lighting. so I want to feel like I am in the storm. even I choose high frequency, its still kind of fade in out. 2. can I play these sounds on my Google home? 3. so if.it plays on local device- can I listen any music and have the flickering effect? thank you. asking for refund and if answers will help, than will buy it again.
Amazing app! The idea of an indoor thunderstorm popped into my head this morning and thank God Scott had already had this idea before me! It's everything I was hoping to find in this app (the fault is in Alexa. She can't open apps.) The light effects are so natural and lifelike. He really nailed this one. The thunderstorm takes me back to my childhood. I love the whole thing! The app creator is pretty swell, too.
Thanks for the quick reply when working this app is amazing and does what it says. Fast response from developer. Your update made the app not work. Love this app use it every halloween mostly well your 10.30.24 update it now force closes every time I try to use it. Very disappointing. The lava one as well. Alot of people use this app for halloween and now i cant.
This is one of my favorite apps. And I have tried a lot of lightning apps. Everybody loves it when I demo Thunderstorms at parties! You have to use the Google Home app to Cast the sound and it works well. I don't know how to get 5.1 sound, but i imagine that is Google Home thing. Can the storm sounds go to more than 2 home speakers?
Its ok but the lightning color adjustment needs work, you can't make bolts 'slightly' any color, any color chosen displays with heavy saturation. Like lightning on Jupiter or something. Also, there is a highly annoying, repetitive gap between loops. Must either eliminate gap or randomize routine and make it endless.
I love this app! I live in the desert where it infrequently rains. Now it rains/storms whenever I want. (Update Complete user error on casting. I had the volume turned very low on my phone. Casting works great if you do it right and turn up the volume.)
Cool app, but missing video option on TV after I cast my phone to TV via GHome to get sound from phone trough my home sound system. It's kinda lame to see lights & sound create nice atmosphere, but then the phone screen without anything cool matching cast to TV. Can't you add a video in the casting from the GHome app too (not just sound)? Fix this good Sir, and that last star will come flying in! :)
Awesome app, light effects and audio are perfect. Only issue is that only philips hue COLOR bulbs react and not the white ambiance ones. I understand them not being able to perform the color cues but should be implemented for the lightning effect. I'm intrigued by the other apps you have as well but the white lights might stoo from from purchasing others.
So far it is a cool experience. I can't seem to find a way to have the sound effects play through another speaker other than the phone. If one could select speakers on the WiFi (like most apps now) then that would be great. The effect of a thunderstorm is somewhat dimished coming from a phone speaker.
I definitely needed to adjust the default settings before it felt anything like a real thunderstorm. It was worth it. Played through the home stereo, this app very realisticly imitates the thunderstorms we have here. Even my dogs want to go hide from the rain, lol. Dropped a star because it did take a lot of tweaking and there's room for improvement but overall I'm impressed with this app. I just noticed the cats running for shelter when the "lightning" strikes, lol
This is just plain fun, and works out of the box. I can tell it's a lot of work, so it's a steal for the price. Planning a thunderstorm for our indoor camping adventure and this seemed perfect when I tried it just now. Have grabbed the other apps to shake up the isolation days with the kids. Looking forward to our volcano adventure! Great app, give it a shot!
Seems to work best with fewer lights. I've greatly expanded my hue bulb collection and now notice that there must be a lag between syncing all of them and the sound from the app. It went from the lights flashing and soon after hearing the thunder (correct) where now with all lights going (about 20), you hear the thunder first followed by the lights flashing a few seconds after, which is backwards. Delay Thunder does not resolve it. Any tips for this issue outside of using less lights?
I can't rave enough about this app! There are so many toggles and controls you can customize just about any kind of thunderstorm you can dream up! To the creator, Scott, you are awesome man and I hope you continue to provide this app for years to come! I would gladly pay for it if needed to keep it going! I use this as part of a diorama I've built in my basement. I bought Hue lights to create sunrise and sunset and daylight colored skies over my models, and now I can conduct thunderstorms!
OMG! This is amusing and wonderful! I bumped into this by accident and figured what the heck. It's only three bucks. Easy to use and quite enjoyable especially if you have a thunderstorm cranking out of your Bluetooth speaker. One footnote. It's more effective with lights you do not have direct line of sight to. For example a light bulb behind a lamp shade or in my case it was especially effective with the light strip hidden behind my television (reflecting off the wall). Thanks!
Very good app, great options for extra sounds like frogs. If there's one improvement is it would be the ability to cast audio to a Nest speaker. Bluetooth works but it's an annoying extra. EDIT: casting through the Google Home app is not a solution. It isn't much easier than Bluetooth and requires leaving the app. It also is heavier on the battery.
Really like this app. Great for Halloween. Lots of settings to play around with to get your desired effect. Even the background sounds help make for a great atmosphere. One question. Is there a way to have better control over the pulse rate or turn it off completely. Sometimes the pulse is to overwhelming even on lowest setting. Otherwise perfect.
