Reviews for Ting

Won't work with USAA insurance for a home insurance discount. Went back and forth with USAA and Ting tech support and still can't get USAA to detect the device. Enrolled, un-enrolled, reinstalled app etc. Tried everything Ting and USAA asked for.

Completely Useless!!! Changed routers. White light flashing. Pressed reset button. Now solid Blue. Troubleshoot says go to 3 horizontal lines to "add Ting." No such lines on Andrid app. Device useless. Into the spare parts bin.

unable to complete sign up on S25 Ultra because the app window is so big the "Get Started" and "Sign in" buttons are behind the Navigation Bar and Notification Bar, respectively. completely unable to use the app.

Great device and software! It provides useful data about power issues in our area and inside the home. I get lightning strike alerts from Ting way before my weather apps. I recommend asking your home insurance company if they will provide you with one.

easy to install nice interface. wonder how they got my home insurance company name displaying on the app. cant find where control that. do i get a discount? also the prompts are located on the bottom under my navigation icons making it difficult to select next, etc.

Seems to work well. No serious alerts yet as the nearest incidents are at least a few miles away to hundreds of miles away. I would like a way to cancel/delete old and not applicable alerts though. Reach out to me by text please!

Currently this app is somewhat unusable on my phone that is running Android 16. The top pull down menu is under the status bar so I can't select it or any options that are within that menu. Android 16 is forcing it into full screen mode which apparently this app is not supporting correctly? I am updating my review as the display problem has been resolved.

Maybe it's just a Samsung thing, but the app accepts/next buttons are in the same location as the back/minimize/more buttons. Also it will not allow you to rotate the screen in the app. Finally got the sensor to connect, but it seems a bit shaky.

The app works well and gives me access to current status, power outage information, and real time run charts of voltage and high frequency line noise. My one complaint is that the user interface is cut off at top and bottom of the app on my Samsung Galaxy running Android 13. I did find a workaround: press and hold on the app in the app switcher menu, then drag to middle of screen. It will open in pop-up view resized for visibility of all buttons and menus. I can live with this until the update

Received this free from State Farm. Great idea & was so excited. However, this thing crashes more then anything I have ever seen. It spends more time offline then it does online. It is 4 feet from my router, doesn't matter. Don't lose power but the Ting still drops. I get constant notifications & emails saying it is offline. I have rebooted, turned off, turned on, blah blah blah more than 40 times. Still nothing. Now today it just permanently turned off. No lights, no flashing, nothing, it died

We have one and today noticed that one of our plug pins was almost melted due to an electrical malfunction. I don't understand how this went undectes by something that is supposed to be monitoring all the electrical functions through our house. If I could, I would share pictures of the plug-in. The only thing it detects of full blown power outages and internet loss.

I am trashing the sensor and deleting this app. The sensor does not stay connected to the internet. Little blips in service and the sensor is off. One has to reboot router to get it to reconnect. Why can't it just reconnect like our cell phones, desktop, laptop, Kindle ereader, Roku box? Nope! I'm not going to be a slave to this waste of time. Haven't had it a week and it has disconnected a 3rd time. Nope! 3 strikes and you're out. Glad it was free through State Farm. Don't waste your money.

Easy to install. This is a great tool to identify potential electrical fire hazards. It is hands-off. You get an alarm only if there's a detected electrical issue. This device looks for arcing, measures voltage, and tracks harmonics. Once a week, you get a status email with a tip on electrical fire safety tips. Overall, the app is easy to use. I believe in this devise enough to purchase it for family members.

Worked fine for a few days, then won't reconnect to the wifi. You waste your time emailing them and then waiting 2 days for a response to tell you to the predictable garbage responses. Wifi hasn't changed, password hasn't changed, it had a great signal to start with, and miraculously appeared to loose it. You can set another device next to it and it has perfect signal. Appears to be a defective product. Currently it has a solid blue light like it should be working, but it's not. Garbage product

Very happy with the the reports and the west the device works, and the app is ready to use except for one thing - you can't hit the "back" button on Android to get back to the phone main menu and choose another app. You can "log off," but I don't usually want to do that. All you can do to get out of the app it's to press the "show running apps" button, then kill Ting. I consider that to be a "misbehaving" app.

seems like a neat idea, I'll got this free via insurance. I think I need more time to see if it's useful. Seems to have some high data rate The cons: Keeps freezing when reopening, doesn't integrate well at all (I can't save my password, no auto fill, can't use the back button). Also, they only show two parameters, but it apparently logs hundreds, why can't I look at more? I think the app needs a lot of work.

I like what the app does, and the interface is easy to interact with. The one complaint I have is related to logging in. The app doesn't allow you to paste your credentials into the user ID and password fields. That is extremely annoying. It wouldn't bother me so much if the app supported biometric authentication. Entering complex passwords using a smartphone keyboard is tedious is error prone.

So far, this device has lived up to expectations. It's easy to set up. download the app, plug the device into a wall outlet, then follow the simple directions. When the device light turns green, it's fully activated and actively monitoring the electrical wiring. It provides peace of mind, knowing all's well with that part of my house. Fortunately (touch wood), I have not had an event that warranted an alert from the device or Ting's monitoring team--and I hope I never will!

It's pointless, it'll send notification. Great. I go to log in. Nope. I try reset password. Cause just round in circles. Log in isn't good. I user name password wrong. Try again. Just runs you around in circles. There is no one to contact. Offers no help in app. Wait I take that back the only good it does is possible lower my insurance rate. Other than that. Bet thier response sucks too. Can't even put a contact us inside the app. Have to leave it in the response to this. That seems helpful.

Update: Developer quickly resolved usability issue. while I can't speak for the Ting product since it's still in learning mode, I can say the app has a major flaw the minute you start using it on Android. The Hamburger button "3 horizontal lines" is not accessible given its under the native android status bar. This limits me and there does not appear to be a website to discover what I'm missing but, I definitely don't have the ability to manage my account in any way without using it.
