I like this app a lot, as a college music student I use it regularly, but the metronome is infuriating sometimes. I recently had to reinstall this app to my new phone and it won't let me select the "Auto" function for the met., which is really infuriating because I can't stand the tempo wheel. Other than that issue this app is good, but considering how often I use the metronome for practice I'd really like to know if that's just a bug for the Pixel 6a or something else entirely
Reviews for TonalEnergy Tuner & Metronome
← Back to TonalEnergy Tuner & MetronomeI love this app. I noticed a small mistake in the program and I thought the developers would appreciate knowing this. Under the analysis function, after selecting "Note Staff", it is possible to select different clefs, but upon selecting the Tenor Clef, an Alto Clef is shown on the staff. And when you select the Alto Clef, a Tenor Clef is shown on the staff. This doesn't hinder functionality but you probably want to fix this.
I have used this app for years and have been telling people it's the best thing ever since you can create specific met tracks and share them with people. But, the metronome, the single item I use this app for, hasn't worked in MONTHS. I can't select any tempo or subdivision, and the app just crashes whenever I try and load any of my saved presets. All I want is some beep-beep, and the app can't provide that.
Although this is listed as a tuning app, it has the best in app metronome that I've ever run across because it has not only a good very basic metronome, but in addition, it has an advanced metronome, sometimes referred to as a drummer's metronome, and one of its features is that it allows you to silence beats 1 and 3 , which helps you learn how to play grooves where you have to play either behind the beat, like with blues, or ahead of the beat, which is very common in rock.
I've had this app for years, and in the last 2 weeks or so, the metronome has become completely unusable. Once it starts, the app runs at about 4 FPS, and every input takes about 5 seconds to register if it registers at all. This is the only app I've found that can run a drone and met at the same time, so I hope this gets fixed :(
This app is arguably the best tuner out there! It's for the aspiring advanced musician, professional musician, and of course even beginner musicians. It has many full sounding instruments that use real sounds! You can customize nearly every aspect of your practice down to room size echo, programmable metronome measures, and even has customizable tunings that can measure down to semi-tones. There's really no better tuner out there!
Recently it's stopped working. I've tried uninstalling it and so far only clearing storage works but that's just temporary. This has been going on for a couple weeks and it really sucks considering this is my main tuner and the best one by far and I use it everyday during practice. Whenever I open the app a loading circle pops up and the whole app is frozen
First, I'd like to say this is best metronome/tuner on the market. With that being said, it can still improve: Quite difficult to be precise in the option to stretch tempo by percentage, perhaps a wheel--like with tempo in metronome--could be easier and more intuitive. Lastly, recording ability can be improved by making it easier to scroll up or down the list of your takes. 4.5/5 ⭐
Metronome is too quiet. With a loud instrument it is inaudible at maximum volume. Phone is not the issue, have other apps that get loud. Interface is cluttered, you figure it out eventually, but not intuitive. When you leave the app and come back it doesn't return to the previous screen. The practice tracking is so-so. Timer only works when the tuner screen is active, and I often use other apps to practice so it is not effective for tracking actual practice time. Other than that, pretty good.
I bought this app specifically to show me the keys of songs I might wish to sing. Now I can sound out a note and visually see what key that note is! I can't read music and I can't play an instrument, but I can carry a tune. This app allows me to announce the key I need so that the musicians can be in tune with me. One of the best investments I have ever made. There is a lot more capability to this app, but for now this is all I am using it for.
On Android? Don't buy it! On Android its just a basic tuner and metronome. You can't get it on the share list, you can't import music files from your phone, you can't video record. Get a free app, from android this definitely isn't worth the money. Their support team don't answer emails if developer feedback either. Very disappointed, I won't believe the hype next time.
Once your practice streak streak gets over about 100 (not to brag lol) the app starts to slow down quite a bit, taking over 30 seconds to launch, and being overall very slow. If I use the metronome for too long, my phone will shut down entirely without warning, even at high battery. Everything else works fine, but it's pretty much unuseable because of this.
I love this app, it has everything I need and then some. But unfortunately recently I had to uninstall it due to very high battery drain. I personally don't think the developers have spent much time trying to optimize this app for android devices. Having to deal with constant crashes and freezing make this really hard to use. I really wish I could use this app because I love it, but being someone who is in school all day using it I cant afford to have my battery die. My wish to the developer - Spend some time optimizing it for big android flagship devices. I love android but because this doesn't work all that great on it I have many times contemplating switching to an apple device. I own a galaxy s9+
Best there is! As a metronome, it does it all: beat or measure silencing, voice count, tempo increase and visual aid. Also, offers sound (frequency) analysis, and solfège assistant. The tuner section offers everything you need and a lot more. It does take a little time to learn where all the tools are, but after that you will see you will not need any other tuner or metronome ever!
It's very rare that I have genuine passion for an app, but this app has fundamentally changed my approach to practicing, which is, to edify a major part of my life. I cannot tell you the difference being able to practice within a single cent more and less of tolerance, as well as being able to switch on a dime between just tonal centers has done for my playing. And that’s only 1 aspect of the app. If you are musician and looking for the next level, this is it.
I love(d) this app. I used it every day for over a year, it has a streak counter so you can see how many days you practised and for how long. Metronome, tuner, drone, analysis to see if you're in tune. Absolutely adore(d) it. Since the last Android update however it continually crashes/force closes/gets stuck on streak screen. I've had to download another tuner as I can't trust it to be reliable in my lessons. Please can you fix this.
If you are looking for a precise chromatic tuner and a great metronome, stop looking and just buy this now! As a bonus, the happy faces all over the place make me smile and make practice more fun. At first I was put-off by the cluttered interface and the annoyance of accidentally pulling-in option menus that are hidden on the left and right sides of the screen. I got used to these quickly, and actually appreciate how quickly I can set options. Great app!
It's great, perfect for band, choir, and marching band. TonalEnergy allowed me to delete many apps off of my phone like my metronome, my guitar tuner, and my note reader. I can set the metronome to change tempos; great for drumline. Only issue is that it becomes difficult for the app to know which note I sing when I go lower. I sing Bass II, so that is a fairly common occurrence. Anything below an Eb2 is hard for the app to properly read. Though I won't deny that it might be a hardware issue.
I found this app by accident after trying out other tuner/metronome combo that I want to purchase, but found out it is subscription based. I quickly look for other apps that I can purchase outright. This app is awesome, with great features and interface for what you want to focus on. It even has an analysis tab that is not on the app I tried to purchase (love that). Best yet, you can purchase outright instead of subscription.
Update: The Android version is truly great now I have all of my college students buy it. There is one thing I would love to have added: it would be amazing if the "analysis" view had a decibel meter in it instead of the wave view. I would love to be able to track the actual decibels of each note instead of the wave, as the wave isnt a reliable representation of volume. I currently use a seperate app as a decibel meter, but would prefer to be able to see it in this app in the analysis view.
