I have used the app for a long time and found it to be very valuable. However, the app now seems to require GPS location sharing and the experience contacting support was poor. In fact, THIS is the only way I found to "contact" support... The app keeps forcing me to the view that instructs me to add the location sharing permission when this had not been the case before. Please fix this bug!
Reviews for Too Good To Go: End Food Waste
← Back to Too Good To Go: End Food WasteI love the concept & I have gotten some incredible food deals thru the app. 4 stars because I've sent 2 messages to their support email re: 2 separate questions & no one even bothered to reply. Do better, guys. You have a great app, but customer service should be a part of it, even if you're new. Super unprofessional.
Great concept. I don't use it often as most times you get what you pay for. Stores give you processed food that's expiring that day. Another place gave what tasted like stale cupcakes taken out of the fridge. At one place they loaded up the container with 80% rice and covered the top with some protein and veggies to make it look like you're getting lots of food. There are good stories though. At three places they truly give you what regular customers get because pickup time is near closing time.
Not worth the time. I love the idea of not letting food go to waste by selling at a discounted price. However, this app, or at least with my experiences so far in WNY, have left much to be desired. So far 2 places said they're not associated with this app, so they were a bust and wasted an hr of my life. Then the next said $5 for 15 worth of food, but only gave me 7 in items. Again a waste of a trip. I've spent more in gas than the app saves.
I enjoy using this app. It has introduced me to restaurants that I never heard of or never would have tried on my own. Once I learned how to select locations, I started to use the app while traveling to different cities. One time I was getting gas, turned on the app and discovered that I was near a business that was on the app. I was able to pick up a Top Good TP Go bag and was very pleased with the contents. Some places are very generous with what they pack.
Options are not reliable enough to depend on for necessities, per se. A large number of participating locations are donut or other occasional bakery-types. But the discounted values are well worth it at most locations, the user support is helpful, and it feels very much for a good cause if you have a distaste for food waste. Don't expect to necessarily get what you want if you're picky, but if you're not picky, expect generally decent variety and quality.
Good app but when reviewing Favorites and you click on one to see the location, when you go back to the list it takes you right back to the top so then you have to scroll all the way through to get back to where you were. Also, Favorites should be sorted by distance to current location maybe (or make it sortable) - the Fave list is displayed so randomly right now. Also, most places I've been to aren't selling excess/leftover food - they're using the app as just another way to get orders!
notifications don't work at all, they never come through and reset every time you use the app. I've never been able to even use this service because everything except gross overly sweet donuts is always sold out. the restaurants I have saved and notifications on for are never available and when I click it always says "just missed! turn on notifications!" but their notifications DO NOT WORK. this app is a waste of time.
[Edit] 2⭐ Great concept, with a dysfunctional app. Under each tab, only a few choices are shown out of what's actually available. There is no way to contact Ex. Tab "pick up today" shows 4 choices But then under other tabs, many more options are actually available "today". I don't want to spend half an hour checking each and every tab, to find what should've been under the 1st tab. (1st review) 5⭐ Delicious healthy food. Quick in store ordering and if you order ahead, instant pick up.
This app is a joke. While you can get junk food at a discount, but once you get something substantial you're paying full price for something that was made earlier that day. I paid $6.99 for a soup that was just beans, and the app claimed it was worth $21. One serving is priced at $6.99, I asked the restaurant in person when I picked up the order! They should have give me 3 orders, not one. Total rip off. Once I get my refund I will be deleting this app
UI needs some finessing, notifications aren't consistent, but it's a genuinely delightful way to add spontaneous variety to regular groceries without breaking the bank, or fill up when resources are short. Picking up in the earliest part of your window means time to shop before closing, making menu coordination easier. Great way to add a thrilling surprise to the household's meal planning, for sure.
My experience with the app was fine previously, but tonight I purchased 2 surprise bags but the restaurant was closed for renovation and had no food. That's the restaurant's fault for listing when they were closed. However, when I reported the problem in the app I was given a message that they would review my message in about 2 business days. In the past they issued refunds immediately, and rightly so. I shouldn't have to wait at all! They sold me something that doesn't exist and that is theft
Friend and I tried the app for the first time, booking 4 different restaurants. Overall the value from the restaurants reported doesn't match what the app says, but what was given was worth more than paid. Marking vegetarian/vegan in the app does nothing for you if it is a surprise bag. I had vegetarian marked and if it wasn't for one restaurant asking me if I ate pork (which i don't eat red meat or pork) would have had all pork based meals. I think this app is a great idea, just needs work.
A great app for getting food at a discounted price and feeling good about reducing food waste. It has been a nice way for me to discover local restaurants, bakeries and grocers near me as I recently moved to a new city. The app is straightforward and easy to use; haven't had any issues. There was an instance where I had paid for a surprise bag, but the restaurant was closed due to a hurricane power outage and the refund process was easy and handled quickly.
This app was good when it started, but now it's completely deviated from what it claims to do. Businesses aren't using it to save food, they're using it to sell regular menu items on the side or just advertise themselves. The app might as well be called "Caveat Emptor." Half the surprise bags are nowhere near the advertised value that you're supposed to be getting. On rare occasions businesses run out, but in most cases (like Circle K) it's constantly happening and clearly an intentional scam.
There should be a notification system that businesses can use if they are running low on food. I didn't know there was a possibility of having your order cancelled. My very first order was cancelled maybe 20 mins before my pickup window. Suddenly having no food at 10:30pm was a huge bummer. Communication needs to be improved on this. Maybe also add a reward system for cancelled orders or penalties to businesses for last second cancellations? Definitely not what I was expecting for my first time.
Seems like it's a good concept, except in my area, it's the same four doughnut and pastry shops available. No matter what time of day it is, everything is sold out in the nearby area, again, a minimal selection. I've never used the application because of the lack of business participation in this area, unless driving to the Bay Area, which is 1-2 hours away.
great deals, a great way to sample new restaurants, and it's always nice to get surprises! There many more customers than participating restaurants in my area so the bags go fast & we have to travel 20-30 mins for most of the restaurants near me, so im not sure the realistic carbon saved is super great in our case, but i can imagine this would be amazing in a larger city.
love the concept, and customer service is great. I would like the ability to hide restaurants I never want to see, especially if I've had a poor experience. "recommended for you" should actually be places similar to the ones I have picked up from before, not ever Circle K in a 10 mile radius. updating because I just got a push notification "for a restaurant saved in my favorites" which is EXACTLY the restaurant I want to hide! I definitely do NOT have it saved as a favorite.
4/5/25 I loved this app. Was using it every couple days. Until a week ago when it stopped accepting my payments methods. Doesn't matter how I try to pay it will fail. And they have absolutely no way to contact support for this issue. So I sent in a support for another issue and haven't heard back yet. 8/13/25 Still can't make purchases. Can't add debit or credit cards because I can't adjust the expiration date. Google Play always declined even when they should go through. permanently uninstall
