After paying for this, I can almost never get it to connect to my Bluetooth adapter, without at least a dozen attempts. Sometimes it won't connect at all. I just give up. The free app I downloaded from another company with less features connects first time every time. The free app connects when I open it, if I'm not already connected to the adapter.
Reviews for Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car)
← Back to Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car)With the right OBDII device, it's great! I've used this app for about 6 years and loved it. My original device died (thanks Arizona heat)and I replaced it with an "Amazon Recommend" one. That was a mistake as I started all sorts of issues getting it connected, reading codes, pulling live data, etc. Once I went back to a quality device everything clicked and has been great. Do yourself a favor and pair this to a quality product.
I love it. Evertime someone gets in my truck they see I have my phone mounted up on my dash and that it's showing live information about my engine they are blown away. I use the mpg I stand and average dials, the load % dial, the throttle position, the timing advance, the torque, the horsepower, and the fuel trim dials on my home screen: 3 different screens of coarse. And then on another screen I'll have the complete report shown. Get the pro, it's so much better than the free version.
Been using the app for years and I love it. But after the android update about a year ago, I've had issues with the recorded trip logs. All aspects work except for the boost reading. On the map, half of the trip is just black. Not color coded like it should be. When I zoom in, it still displays the correct values but just not the correct color. No other type of value (speed, rpm, temp, etc) has this issue.
Very Basic scanner with ability to show icons gauges of some parameters. Extra features via plug-ins cost $5.99 extra for each car brands plugin. I went to pay and download the plugin for enhanced Toyota brand cars but the Google play store said it is "...not available for this device!" a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 with latest Android update. what a waste of my time, effort and money.
Just amazing, nothing else to say. For the price to be able to read anyone's red light in a matter of seconds is unparalleled. It's simply a must have if you're trying to diagnose an issue with your car, or want all the information a mechanic would have. I've used it around 10 times on 6 different cars, and being able to know the reason your car has a red light, without having to go to a mechanic is a amazing. Someone stole my obd reader out of my car so can't use it anymore but the app is 10/10
I use this app every time I get in my car. It's set up to running background anyway, so it's nice to have real time information and data logging as well as GPS and everything. It's a great scan tool, work for every car that I've put it on. The only complaint that I have is that the plugins are old and there are no plans to update them for certain vehicles, so that would be nice as well as an actual dashboard instead of a set of gauges to set up.
I have been using this app for a number of years on Samsung phones and it works great even with the cheap chinesium OBD-II bluetooth scanner from Amazon. I know from doing investigations into the different models of readers that some of them don't work very well and that you have to make sure you get one with a legitimate chipset or it will be slower than the more expensive models. I have tested this with 3 different readers and never had issues with the app itself.
Update: Bought a used KIA. The KIA plugin advises it is not supported by the latest version of Android. Need a workaround, please! Excellent application! Very happy with the data this app can track, the interface is easy to use, the multiple pages allow for me to monitor different sets of data for different driving activities, all in all a very solid product.
From great to nah in 2.9 seconds. Used to be a great, now it doesn't work. It won't connect to OBD2 scanner anymore. Tried it on different cars thinking that maybe my old scanner died and nothing. Got a new scanner and wouldn't connect to it either. I decided to try a different app and everything worked on the other app. What are you doing? This was a great app and you let it fall. Pick it up and make it great again. Note 10+
Great program, very useful and somewhat configurable with add-ons. So far the main thing I would like fixed is the ability to associate a particular OBD reader to a vehicle profile. I have 3 different readers in 3 different vehicles and have to find the correct reader for the profile from the list of ALL bluetooth devices. Failing the ability to associate a reader to a vehicle, give us the ability to "name" the BT reader in the list instead of only viewing the MAC address. Thank you for the program Ian! Keep up the great work!
This used to be my "go-to" OBDII app because it really does work well and is not difficult to use. Over the past few months though, I tried other apps and some of those are even easier to use, less confusing, and I've had less probs connecting to the adapter. The main thing that I still like about this app is the free gauges. Some apps charge you for each gauge you want to use within their app but Torque allows you to use any/all of the gouges with no additional cost.
Though the UI feels exactly the same as it was years upon years ago, I've had no problems connecting to my newer car and using on my newer phone. Does what it advertises, even if it's not the prettiest to look at. Kept bringing my car to the shop and they couldn't read codes bc lights weren't on at the time so I managed to catch a window that they finally came on, popped my Viecar in, read codes and sent to the shop. Saved so much back and forth.
Excellent generic app. The gauges make monitoring sensors to localize system faults safe (while driving) and easy. My only problem with Torque Pro is that it's a bluetooth hog. I've used it on three phones now. On all of them, even after closing the app and throwing it off the stack, it still hangs onto the bluetooth, interferring with subsequent connections (like a headset). To stop this behavior, you have to reset your phone -- which is annoying if you're in the middle of things.
App works pretty well. A lot of options to go through. Once you get through them I was able to program app use an old phone to display my BMW engine data. BMW doesn't have gauges for water temperature and other data. Proper setup options phone turns on with ignition, app displays data, and when ignition is turned off the phone goes back to sleep.
Ive owned and used this app for a few years now and it is fantastic. I have an old phone mounted in car, thru the app it turns on and off with the key,it works flawlessly. To all the people saying it doesnt work...you have to set it up properly, and for that you need to research and learn some stuff. This app is wonderful, i have every gauge i ever wanted plus more, i can really monitor my engine every day, and codes pop up instantly when they happen and you know what it is...exactly. Fantastic!!!
I wish i had more room to write! I was blown away with what this app could do with a $10 interface from Amazon, it out performs my more expensive hand scanner! I had EXTREMELY low expectations when i got this but i was dead wrong. So much more available data then i expected, so many customizable options, never mind its faster than my hand scanner. I used the lite app for 1 day then bought the Pro app to support the developer. I never pay for apps or write reviews, so what does that tell you?
It just works better. I've been using Torque almost since it was released, and have found it to be a reliable and invaluable resource for keeping my car on the road. It pulls the same obd codes as much more expensive options, and has much more comprehensive visualization and logging metrics. Whether you're hoping to quickly clear a code from a loose gas cap, or running it on a dedicated device for track day telemetry, this is probably the best app you will find.
I opted for pro quite some time ago, and it has indeed paid off, and been a blast to use. I've thoroughly enjoyed designing my own dashboard with dials that closely emulate my vehicle's dashboard. Upon seeing no updates for over a year suggests that, while still safe and functional, is abandoned. My '24 car isn't being properly read in CO and coolant temp values, so moving on to something else.
I love this app and have used it for several years. BUT the latest update has caused the map view to stop working properly. Unable to display trip...no GPS data recorded. GPS is turned on the phone and the map function worked perfectly prior to the update. I emailed for help fixing the problem but have not received a response. Anyone have a suggestion? Still no response. That's disappointing.
