You can't trust the app. The location and status of the car most of time is not accurate. It could be from the night before. The map on the find tab still using only half of the screen, with two useless button using the other half. And you can't do anything about it. Such app and the remote services must be free to use. Not $100 per year. Such a shame.
Reviews for Toyota
← Back to ToyotaIt's so confidently wrong so often. Erroneous alerts movement in the back seat have become frequent enough to where my impulse is to ignore them. It's currently at a 100% wrong rate. And if I'm using my phone for something and someone else starts the van, this is clearly unforgivable as the app will launch over anything I'm doing and if I close it it will just re-open itself again on top of whatever I'm doing.
THIS SHOULD BE FREE. This app has always been terrible but its gotten worse somehow. Now they only allow monthly payment, no yearly discount. More expensive AND I can't get an activation code to even use it. I've lost $30 now. Useless app, I would give zero stars if possible. A rip off, terrible customer service, no one even at the dealership could help me.
I swapped from iPhone to Android recently and this app seems to flip a coin whether it wants to work or not. More often than not, I can't do anything on the app because it takes forever to load and ends up giving me the "not responding" alert. I'm not saying the app was perfect on iOS but it would at least eventually load 100% of the time. This is unfortunate because the digital key is actually very convenient for me. If they could upgrade the android comparability that would change my opinion.
Does what it says on the tin, but slowly. Assets that should be cached are always streamed in, causing long load times in areas with poor reception. The lack of window control is frustrating, but not a deal breaker. Also, not being able to subscribe to Remote Connect without also paying for music and navigation services that are redundant if you use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay is a bit raw. The remote connect functionality is still mighty convenient during temperature extremes, though.
Stuck in remote connection setup loop. The app says get the code from the screen in the car. The screen in the car says get the code from the phone app. End result is I'm paying for an app that currently does nothing. Edit - I had really hoped this review would trigger someone to reach out to help me with this issue. I'm paying for remote service that I can't use.
I was excited about using the remote start and remote climate control from my phone. however, neither of those things ever worked! The only thing the app used to do was show me the tire pressure in each tire. when my free trial ended it stopped doing even that. there's no way I'm going to pay for an app that can show me my tire pressure and do nothing else! Toyota should just offer this very buggy app for free if they offer it at all.
Has improved from 2 stars to 4 stars after 18 months due to speed improvements. it never reports correct battery percentage which defeats the whole point of app. you have to reload charge percentage to see accurate data. Toyota is dropping the ball and needs to offer more features, analytics like avg driving speed, avg mile per day, total electricity used at home for the year, dollars spent, dollars saved, kW used per trip
I got this app to enjoy my free trial which should have given me Remote Start. It think's my access expired. This app detracts from what should be in dash information. Like tire pressure. I set up my phone to unlock my vehicle but the app signed me out so I can't rely on that. I didn't see a way to contact Toyota inside the app to resolve problems. Overall anything this does I'd rather have in dash, or on my key fob. Now to figure out how to remove data permissions.... Then delete.
this app is nice to use when you want to preheat or precol your vehicle when you have the free subscription during your first year of buying your Toyota. until after though you have to pay for two items instead of just the one remote control in the app so it's 10 bucks a month instead of just 5. and don't get me started on them charging you a subscription for a feature you paid for already, why do I have to shell out and extra 10 bucks just to turn on my car from farther away?
Really frustrating app do I need 20 notifications a day announcing that the app is "looking for my car"? there is good functionality in this app. but the bad outweighs the food. really frustrating that I'm forced to sign in with text verification every other day for "security reasons". I could go in but I'm just going to trade this thing in
Doesn't fully work. Car on/off will say on, but the car won't be on upon inspection. The lock feature is glitchy, and it doesn't always work. Also, it does not connect to the phone every time, even if your phone is saved in the settings of the vehicle. App would be good if it worked properly and fully.
when it works correctly, It's a very convenient feature. But it rarely connects my phone to the car correctly the first time. It does get there eventually though. I'm listed as the primary user in the computer but it almost always preloads my husband's and he's not even in the car. those hiccups aside though, it's nice being able to lock your car remotely if you forgot.
Don't believe any photos or promotional materials that show on-board navigation. You can KIND OF have on board navigation if you can connect Apple Play. However if you use any other type of smartphone, the in-car display console is an expensive mostly useless piece of plastic. You can run music & phone calls through, but that's about it. Since about a year or 2 ago they decided to stop supporting all other on board apps.
Not great at all. It worked for 2 days after I got my new car... now when I try to open the app, all it says is DOWN TIME.... and that there are technical issues. For at least 2 weeks it has been like this. Even though it will still let me know when doors are unlocked, I tap the push notification and can't open the app from there either. I still own a Hyundai and its app works flawlessly and I've never paid a dime for it. Crazy, huh???
The app had always been pretty lackluster but at least I could lock/unlock the car from my phone. Now I've come to find out that the few remote options I had were part of a trial and now behind a monthly pay wall. It's ridiculous that I should have to pay a monthly fee for a handful of remote controls, those sort of features should be a given! Way to dime and nickel your customers, Toyota.
Remote climate control start just broke. Right when we're in a heat wave. In October. Darn climate change. The app used to be able to locate the car too, years ago. Other than seeing the odometer reading, I'm not sure there's any functionality left. The dealer that I use for service prefer to schedule using their own website, so that aspect of the app isn't useful either.
Update: An update was done, but the pay feature STILL doesn't work. I tried to use the online website, but can't remember my username and going through the email steps they say "your username is ___". Literally, just blank. No username attached. I'd give negative stars if I could at this point. The pay feature doesn't work. Hasn't worked in months, just says something went wrong on their end and to try again later. I used to be able to start and lock from the app but that's now extra I guess
I have enjoyed the app immensely the past year with my free subscription. Now I have to pay a monthly fee to continue. I literally only want the remote subscription, but they force you to combine it with either a navigation app or a music lovers app, both of which you don't need if you use Android Auto or Apple to connect to your vehicle. There should be an option for only the remote, be realistic with your consumers needs, this isn't an inexpensive service you are providing. Do better.
The app itself works pretty well, though I still get some notifications I turned off. So why the 2 stars? My free trial of Remote Connect ended. I'll pay for it, it's convenient. But I can't. I HAVE TO pay twice as much for a bundle of Remote Connect and something else I don't want. So instead of Toyota getting me to pay 100 bucks a year for something I actually want, I'm going to buy a 30 dollar airtag and just live without the other features. Dumb.
