Reviews for Traeger

Eh, it's okay. So there are recipes in there, and the settings work... mostly. The timer doesn't work unless your phone is unlocked. The workaround is you have to set your own timer, which isn't ideal, but not the end of the world. It is nice to be able to monitor the temps, amount of pellets, and time remotely. They got some work to do, but the grill itself is the easiest to use, so I guess the app will have to do.

I used to really like this app, a little glitchy but overall pretty good. Until i opened it again for spring grilling and it had been redesigned. It controls the grill fine, but the frustrating part is trying to find a recipe. Unless you know exactly what you're looking for, it's nearly impossible to find anything. There are no categories like chicken, beef, pork, sides, etc like there used to be. I like to scroll around and look for new recipes and that is virtually impossible now.

The grill is amazing. I have the Pro Series 22, and the Yosemite Timberline XL. But the App and the WiFi is absolutely horrible. They just never work well, lose connection all of the time. It's not my router. I have several, and close. It's not my device, I have several. And many others have the same problem. It is a shame.

Echoing the sentiments of others, I can honestly say that this is an excellent smoker very capable. In optimal conditions, the entire product with the app works fantastically well. Unfortunately, something seems to have happened in the last few months and as you can read from many other reviewers, this seems to be a system-wide problem. As it currently stands, my Wi-Fire enabled grill is not able to communicate with my phone without constantly freezing and requiring restarts.

app often freezes on resume (minimize and bring back to front). if it doesnt freeze, the smoker will not update unless app is closed and reopened. lots of bugs, also have to scroll through temperature numbers rather than clicking and typing is a pain and waste of time, easier to just set it on the smoker now. lover the features, recipes, etc, just need to work out bugs so it works right

the app is great when it works... half the time I have to shut it down and go back into it several times before it works. alot of times it loses connection with the smoker so when you pop back into the app without rebooting it the readings it gives you from the smoker are wrong. the make now function also has issues. sometimes it stays locked on recipe and won't let you pick another. nice range of recipes though. all in all it's riddled with glitches but still a good app

it would be great if it worked. it has the expected features like controlling temperature, timers, and alarm settings. unfortunately if the app is ever not active (asleep or background or whatever android does to apps) it will not reactivate successfully. it hangs on a white screen. to connect to the grill I have to kill the app and restart from scratch.

not very responsive, The recipe list is absolutely terrible and ifbTraeger ever removes something that you had in that list you can never remove the tile. it says it's done preheating 100° prior to the target, when changing thermometer temperatures you have to do it twice for it to take, and the list goes on and on and on.... every cook is a battle with traeger

There is a world of opportunity to be added to this app. temperature graphing for both ambient temperature and temperatures of the meat thermometers. historical cooks - saving the cooks as you complete them so when you go back to cook something similar you can reference those and make adjustments as needed. creating a profile for your current cook and/or future cooks - being able to lay out directions for the grill where you can set the grill temps & cook times. Just look at what GMG has - WOW!

Easy to make meals, I suggest that you use foil for easier clean up. Get yourself extra thermometers and have at it. Don't be afraid to experiment and keep the maintenance up for trouble free smoking. Not a stronger smokey flavor. It gets the job done, just don't expect a strong smoke taste. I love the set and walk away freedom, but keep an eye on it from time to time.

app freezes up on the white startup screen at least once every single time I use it. I have to force stop it in order to get it to open again. stop messing with it and just make it so it opens without freezing up . weird that millions of people can use social media apps all day long and they never crash, but I can't see the temp of my smoker without this thing crashing

After the latest phone update, the app will not open until I restart my phone. This usually takes care of the problem, unless it's a long cook, then I'll have to restart the phone 2 or 3 times to make the app work. When it's working, its great. I never used to have this problem on my android phone.

Nice recipes. I'm not able to save my notes I this app. That is disappointing. Also, I'm unable to get the WIFIRE to connect. The grill shows it set up but the app won't connect. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Traeger support and the were not able to help. The grill is great but the app is terrible.

Works Occasionally. App usually fails to load right the first time opening to a white screen. Other times it loads right away with no issues. Then there are time when it loads a black screen saying heating up your account only to go to a black screen where my phone says the app stopped responding. When the app works it is great but seems to work less than 50% of the time for me even removing and reinstalling. Traeger is great at smokers but not so much at apps.

Can we have more control over notifications? For some reason, since the last update, the notification sound for the grill heating up, shutting down, changing temp will not stop until you manually stop it. But when the timer goes off, it chimes once. I don't need the constant ringer going off telling me my grill shut down to then have to fish my phone out of my pocket to shut the blasted thing off. Or miss the timer notification with the TV volume up during the game! please fix this!!!

I've owned one for over a year now and it's been nothing but disappointing. The lid is thin and doesn't seal, the igniter doesn't light most of the time and it constantly needs cleaned. My neighbor has a Pit Boss and it's build quality is much better. He rarely cleans and has no issues. It also has an open flame that you can use for grilling, unlike Traeger.

I like the app for the most part but recently they made a change where you have to label the food that your probe is in. I like that feature in theory if it was optional but requiring it every time I set a target temperature is very annoying. Especially on multi-phase cooks. I've only got one probe I know what I stuck it in. Stop making me type in "chicken wings" every time I use my probe

The layout of the app is great with nice features, recipes, and gadgets. Although, this app is not as robust as it should be and needs quite a bit of work. Frequent crashes of the app has shut down one of my brisket cooks (why I'm writing this), loss connection, and not as reliable of an alarm (although better). It's unfortunate how unreliable this app can be, but there are more times it works as it should by the end of the cook. I will have to buy a MEATER probe for a backup on my next cook.

I bought my first traeger from Costco. So far it's been great! Initially I was having problems with the meat probe thermometer but a quick ice bath and calibration took care of that problem and the food that comes off this thing is amazing. If I were to have one complaint, it would be with some of the recipes within the traeger app. Though some recipes come out just fine, I would just encourage you to cross check with other reputable sites to ensure your dinner is going to come out its best.

Great app! It works great so far. I had to troubleshoot wifi issues only to find that my wifi doesn't work with the Treager 2.4GHZ if you have smart switch enabled on the router. Long story short, the Treager keeps disconnecting from wifi if you have your router set to smart switch between 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ for your devices. So, just in case anyone is having issues with it continually disconnecting from your wifi, check those settings.
