For the past week, my phone has been randomly opening pages to game sites. I thought I had unintentionally downloaded an adware or other malicious app. Turns out that this only happens while I browse Tumblr. I don't even see an ad regarding the games, but it will suddenly interrupt my scrolling to open a games site page in my browser. This has happened at least once a day since the 13th. I nearly reset my phone thinking it was compromised.

i've been getting nothing but the same exact ad every two or three posts for well over a week now. i just refreshed my app and decided to count how many times i saw it in a row. 27. TWENTY SEVEN TIMES. i wish i was joking. i've been marking it as 'see this ad too often' every single time i see it and can confirm the feature is pointless lol. i get y'all need ads to keep the app free but you couldn't be more obnoxious about it. literally makes me not want to use the app

Wow, I returned to this app, and it works so much better now! Engagement is at your level. Ads don't bombard. The Report/Block features actually work. They are a bit of a learning curve, but worth the extra steps. Happy to return to Tumblr for my webcomic and artwork. I would give 5 stars however, the login process is still confusing.

An update and its broken tumblr - and not in a good way. every time I get a notification from a blog i have notifications/alerts turned on for I'll tap to look at it and try and go to their profile by tapping on their username and it freezes. I have to close the app, open it again, search up their username just to view their blog. AND sometimes when im scrolling through my dash and want to view the original poster's blog instead of who reblogged it, it'll just send me to who reblogged it.

I love the app, I do, I've had it since high school BUT it's been lagging and randomly opening to an ad through my browser. I thought it was my phone in general, so I've been deleting apps and clearing my phones cache, but it still lags and opens random "ads". I really don't want to have to delete this app, but if it still acts up like this, then deleting it might be the answer.

I had subscribed to the no ads app for the last couple of years because it was abou 35 bucks and that was fine over the course of 12 months. Now it just randomly doubled the cost to add a bunch of "features" that I be to interest in using. I don't need it want to "blaze" a post. All I want is NO ADS! Give us a lower tier subscription for JUST no ads.

while I prefer to browse on my phone, lately the app has been fully crashing my entire phone system at random. sometimes it's when I boot up the app, sometimes its after minutes of scrolling, but it always freezes the entire phone, my lock button doesn't even function when it happens. no other apps do this. Tumblr what the hell.

my experience so far is so-so. can't navigate through the menu and number direct me to where I want to go pretty sure I'm not getting my notifications according to my emails when I go to find them and treat them in order to be found I'm having a really rough time with the app finding a navigating through it and trying to figure it out it's just frustrating to me. plus someone I know said they didn't have to pay to be a member and they said this year is when they started I'm confused because I pa

newest update immediately makes my phone lag and freeze extremely frequently, even if the app is just open in the background. it's completely unusable at the moment. before this update it seemed like certain ads were causing freezes, but now it's happening no matter what. based on other recent reviews, i'm not the only person with this problem.

Stick to browser because the app freezes, blasts ads at full volume (that you can't turn off without paying), and it will overheat your phone in less than a minute. Edit: 9/21/25 Ads are aggressive, and they autoplay. Reporting the ads does nothing but push it behind the posts as your scrolling, so you can report them anymore. The app is slow, buggy, and continues to overheat devices to temperatures that burn my hands.
