Malicious! Epic Greedy Fail! This company knows what it's doing, offering a free service with ads but routinely excluding all content replaced by ads. I have listened for up to an hour at a time of only ads. This is done to force you into paying the subscription fee. Also, this app buffers and times out all the time, causing more ad breaks. Also, the app somehow refuses the lockcreen. I'll hit my lock screen button and put my phone down assuming it locked but it didn't. I have to double-check.
Reviews for TuneIn Radio: Music & Sports
← Back to TuneIn Radio: Music & SportsI've been using this app for the last couple of months. Overall, it keeps connected to my station for the length of my morning walk. The problem I have is the timing of the app ad sponsors seem to hit just prior to my station's sponsors & I end up listening to 8 to 10 minutes of ads. I get it that the app needs sponsors to remain "free" but when coupled with the station ads, I miss content. I'm unistalling it & moving on.
Really had high hopes for this, but cuts out constantly, every 15-20 seconds a lot of the time. I have high speed fiber-optic wifi, full signal strength, makes no difference. App stops, literally pauses itself and have i go back over and press play 4-5 times during a single song sometimes. Plenty of memory on my S21 Ultra, so not that either. Other music apps work fine, just this one stops a lot. Maybe future updates will help, this phone uses Android 15 and has latest Samsung UI.
apps trash. nothing but adds still! God even worse in the past year. I used to use this app all the time then it just started eating flagged with ads, so I deleted it for around a year, and I just read downloaded it and I got hit with add after add. I never even made it to the station I wanted to listen to before I gave up in uninstalled. Six 30s adds in a row!!!! Nope! not for me! uninstall again and for good.
The free version is fine. Commercials are fine to listen to, oin order the hear the news. However, they play the same commercial up to 15 times in a row, over and over and over. I have counted. I am ready to uninstall, but they are the only app with news. That doesn't make it good. Music, I don't listen on Tune in when there are much better apps. no need to list them.
what once was probably one of the best apps on Play store for finding podcasts and content, is now hopefully temporarily, ruined, as you can't listen for more than 3 min without it scrambling out on an attempt to pump an ad down your throat. Adds used to be before and after every show maybe once during....maybe...now every three min it scrambles out attempts the ad and shuts down. Please fix.
I would give 5 stars, but it is very annoying when they play the same 30 second commercial 3 times in a row. After a few songs, or time based, it goes to commercial and whatever the first commercial is, will repeat 2 more times. I went out of my way to leave a review and bring this up (it's that annoying).
this was the perfect app until the tunein switch was added. it constantly tunes itself over to music I didn't ask for, or just stops playing whatever station I was listening to. just a suggestion, when I want to change my channels I would like to do that myself. I don't need the app to make that decision for me. I can't even use this app anymore.
I've used TuneIn for years. I understand that what they do isn't free, and don't have trouble with an ad-supported model. The level of ads as I write this has made the app nearly unusable. it feels like every stream is prefixed with 3 minutes of advertising. it's excessive. it almost feels like the annoyance level is designed to be high enough to try to push customers to use TuneIns subscription model for relief. You probably can't annoy customers to give you money.
I use this app to listen to CNN during the day while I'm working. The audio drops out all the time. And now that you have commercials when you try to open CNN, I have to wait through that to get to the CNN audio. The commercials never drop out. What ever program you're using to run those commercials should be used to run the CNN audio. This problem is pushing me to try another app. Fix it, please.
This app has absolutely gone downhill. Can't even listen to a radio segment for more than 10 mins before a commercial breaks up the moment. As in in the middle of a radio segment, the app forces you to a commercial. So now you lose momentum of what you were listening to. Just trash anymore. Really disappointing. Used to be a great app and resource to listen to out of market content. Not any longer.
Already lots of commercials, but why cut off what someone is saying? Also, it's used up all 5GB of my phone's data in just a couple days! Must be some kinda data leak, as I've never used that much, ever, in my life! It will also sometimes just suddenly switch stations while I'm listening, often to one I've never even turned on before. Worse, it will then play a bunch of commercials first, even if I jump right back to my original station.
Was Good ! Now Horrible ! My grip is and it used to not do this, but now just about anytime you look at anything while using the app, if it's just opening another app, looking at a photo, checking your text, taking a picture. Your shoe will stop and you will have to start the show up again, missing a segment of your show restarting and then sitting through commercials again And as others have said way to many commercials. and put in right in the middle of your talk show. Complete BS !
Content is great but the app is terrible. Locks up, freezes, crashes all the time. 2 stars. Update: The app has become unusable. It loses track of where it is in a podcast all the time. It will go back to the beginning of the podcast. Each time it does this you have to listen to commercials again. Is this by design, to "up" ad revenue? The other thing is half the ads are for iheartradio. Well, they've convinced me, I am going to check out iheartradio. Might try this again in a month.
I have been using this app every day for 12 years+ and there are many choices but the single reason I use TuneIn is the ability to rewind back if you missed something said. That rewind and fast forward functionality has now disappeared and for me that is a deal breaker. Why? Wish I hadn't updated. How can I recall the previous version? Otherwise, no advantage, many other radio apps. Only other complaint was momentarily engaging social media app turned radio off, annoying.
So far, so good. Easy to find my favorite radio stations. Only get one commercial that's streamed, but it's from a local station. No problem with disconnects, so I can listen to my radio stations, without the app disconnecting from the stream, or the bluetooth. Doesn't keep bugging me to sign in, like another app does, (cough..cough.iheart.cough..cough😁), or wanting me to download apps that I don't want, like a few others do. This is a really solid radio app.
The only way to go ad free is to buy their subscription to extra content. If you only listen to stations you don't need a subscription for, you're stuck listening to ads or with a bunch of content you don't want. Personally, I'd be all for paying a one-time $5-10 fee to get rid of the ads that stop the stream. I'd even be willing to let you keep the on-screen ads, just to get rid of the ones that stop the stream. TLDR; There should be more than one way to pay to get rid of ads than to sub.
I love that I can listen to radio stations nationwide. HOWEVER, by paying the monthly subscription fee it promises no ads. I'm still getting ads specifically from the app, as it interrupts songs and talk that are broadcast live. The station has its own commercials that can't be avoided. But if I am paying for an ad-free service. There should be NO, ZERO, NULL ads coming from the app. What the heck???
Way too many ads. I only wanted to use it for listening to online radio from other parts of the world. It lets you do that but you spend the majority of the time watching and then listening to ads just for the stream to load and song be playing you don't like. Also not great being slammed with ads while trying to drive. Just went and found a free and open source internet radio client instead.
Same Ads every time I open the app and they aren't even relevant! Not to the station I'm listening to. I use it for cnbc live. it is the worst app for maintaining a live broadcast. constantly pushes the ad content and switches off when I switch to another app like this one to write this review. Meaning I lose the entire broadcast as I type this. The paid option isn't that much better, if at all.
