bought this tree several years ago we couldn't have been happier! Set up was easy lights were amazing, controls fantastic. This yera it's been a huge disappointment. What did you guys do with this update? We are going around in circles trying to figure out how to get in and control our tree via our phone. We've never had this problem until you're update. Now it's just a normal tree with lights. And there is zero customer support just FAQ. No more twinkly products for us.

Buyer beware. Barely works for such an expensive tree. Spent an hour setting it up with the instructions, and the app is fighting me every step of the way. After struggling and spending about an hour trying to get it to connect to my phone, the app lost connection to my tree somehow and won't reconnect. I've followed troubleshooting steps in the instruction booklet and nothing works. Please fix. If the app doesn't become somewhat usable, I'm returning the tree and just getting a regular one.

I bought a twinkly tree in 2019. Set up was easy,worked great. Sadly when I set it up for 2020 Christmas the lights are stuck on demo mode. The app is no longer working. My phone sees the network but says it will connect when signal strength is better??? Even 12" away it doesn't sink. I guess I should be happy it at least has demo mode but I am very disappointed I can't control modes anymore. Disappointed a $400 tree only worked for one season. I would recommend buying something else

Twinkly not found on Wifi. I am willing to change my 1 star review to a 5 star if this issue can be resolved. I have a Twinkly tree with lights already attached to it. This means I did not string the lights myself. I downloaded the app, plugged in my tree and went through the set up steps. I absolutely cannot get the tree to connect to my Wifi. It doesn't exist. There is no Twinkly_xxxxxx. I used both an android and an iPhone. I have installed the latest version of the app. Nothing.

The app works fine but the lights are not worth the investment. I purchased multiple lights strands 3 years ago and last year two went bad after only a year and now this year another strand went bad. I have regular led lights that I've had for 5-6 years that still work great. Also, they have a really hard time staying connected to wifi. And if you group them together, they all have to be online in order to change the color. When they work they're great but not worth the money.

These light are beautiful but , I could have spent a hell of a lot less money on a limited set. Thats what I am with these, 'limited'. That's why I chose Twinkly, for the limitless options They DO NOT HOOK UP TO MY WI FI AT ALL. IT will detect the light string but will not configure or accept my local wifi at all. Very frustrating, especially after setting up 6 different strings. Not so great after all. Waste of time and money..especially with cs NOT getting back to me. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

It's ok, not very intuitive to use the app. Definitely don't use it if there are multiple users. What a nightmare, even if assigning a user status, random devices would be transferred to this user away from my app. It even removed them from Google home app since they were no longer associated. Passing invites takes hours not seconds. Great official physical products but horrible app.

Love the lights but have constant issues. At first they kept disconnecting requiring me to constantly log in and out and reconnect. Now they don't disconnect as much but now I can't select any effects. No matter when I click it ALWAYS opens "Snow" and no others and it's frustrating. Good product but there are some technical issues.

What the hell? The app worked great last year (2021) but this year something is not working! The timer doesn't work and I can't put another light setting anymore! When I try to do it, it shows "Error - Oops, we have a problem." C'mon, it's Christmas! These lights were expensive and I expect them to work the way I want to! Saldy, again I can't rely on a device that comes with an app because overtime these things won't work because of the poorly working apps!

I can't recommend against Twinkly enough. Their lights have problems connecting to Wi-Fi networks, the app crashes every time I choose a new effect and email support was so slow to respond to me about my issues. If you haven't opened the box yet, return it. This is quite possibly the worst product of the type on the market. Response to Twinkly: why yes this did happen last year. And while yes you promptly responded to my message, my issue was not promptly fixed. And I'm still having app problems

Ok. I cant get the mapping feature to work properly. It finally mapped and the results were terrible so i tried to redo it and now it wont map at all due to a "network glitch". I havent found a way to delete the current mapping data . If I try to unplug the tree and reset it that doesnt work at all! After unplugging it, the tree takes 30 minutes or more to even show up as a network. For $300 youd think this tree would work almost flawlessly and that is not the case at all.

Compiling takes forever and constant popup ads are really annoying, especially for the price of the lights. Update to response. It's not a push notification, it's an ad that pops up over and over in the app for a black Friday sale. Know your app before responding. New update, notifications are not turned on. It's a popup IN THE APP, and with notifications turned off you get another popup telling you to turn them off. Stop replying to reviews, you're clearly not qualified.

Awesome to use, setup can be a bit buggy. Make sure phone is connected to 2.4Ghz network like Twinkly is; and even then, the app may not continue to connect or confirm connection, but exiting out & upon re-entry, it acts like everything went smooth & connected previously...so all good, as long as it works in the end right? But knocks a star off from perfection. 😉

Love the lights, but the app could be better. A little too basic. Would love to be able to schedule different effects for different times of the day, similar to Philips Hue. You can only set one timer and it runs whatever effect you already had on. And it's buggy. One set of lights on my tree will not sync with the timer in the app, but will with google home. But you can't select effects with google home, just single colors. So great lights, but could be "smarter".

WiFi receiver is weak. App needs work. 1) You can't access lights without being on the same network. 2) With permanent lighting, you need to be able to select specific bulbs in order to accent the home, the app makes selecting specific lights nearly impossible b/c you cant zoom in to a cluster of lights. 3) After saving a custom edit, you can't go back and edit again. 4) on string lights, setting the timer results in partial group failure. All these problems are well known, but no updates!

UPDATE: The app has improved, and most of the features I mentioned that were missing have been added. I would still like more detailed control when editing and/or creating effects. I have added some outdoor nets to my setup, and some effects look great while others don't. It would be nice to be able to choose if each different effect in the playlist is shown across all lights or copied to each light. (The lights are fantastic… five stars for the lights!)

Works well enough, but the app is somewhat difficult to use. They're are good choices in the gallery, but there's no way to customize those without overriding the original. It would be helpful if there was a "copy" function. The 3D mapping instructions were initially confusing. They don't give you much instruction. Having said that after I figured it out (orange/red/green lights are clues of where to take more pics) the mapping worked pretty well.

This used to be my favorite app, I've been using it for years. But recently noticed more than half of the effects that I created are gone, seems to have happened after one of the last updates. Is there a way to get them back? Makes me very sad that I have to recreate my favorite effects, that took a long time to create. I see some of them still in the saved effects part of the controls section, but the thumbnail is grey, and I can select them but can't adjust them. Very disappointed.

The tree is great, offering quite an array of color schemes and patterns. The app took several attempts to sync to the tree, having to switch between the tree's wifi and my home wifi several times, resetting the tree in between attempts. The app is not "intuitive" to figure out how to program the tree, and one wrong tap and you lose everything. There's no way to save a custom color scheme. So if you like something, you have to write it down so you can reprogram it when you want to.

Buggy app. Doesn't appear to function properly. Refuses to turn on even after having done all I could possibly think to do. But I appreciate Twinkly's app review stalker; tells me "make sure the lights and the phone are on the same WiFi network" VERY HELPFUL. Like yes thank you for telling me something I DEFINITELY wouldn't have thought to do to begin with. FIX YOUR APP. This is an on going issue! UPDATE #2 04/21/2025 not working
