Every time I get a pop-up to review this app that interrupts my work, I like the app less. Otherwise, it is an ok app.
Reviews for Ugly's Electrical References
← Back to Ugly's Electrical ReferencesGood app for anyone interested in electrical work, the illustrations for conduit bending could use a little more work for clarification.
So far it's just like the book that I've been buying for years, only more convenient. I really like it. Ii would recommend it to all electricians, and a must for apprentices
Useful app but don't expect the creator to answer any email questions you have, they won't reply. I use this app almost everyday as a 34 year member of the IBEW and a foreman for a large electrical contractor.
Cheaper than the book and quicker to access calculations. No flipping pages, just tap and go.
Information at your finger tips, It's really nice to be able to double check on a symble that is not used vary often. Just a lot of good stuff and easy to find
Very useful for anywhere in the world. Makes solving difficult calculations like motors, voltage drop and conductor adjustment factors a breeze.
This is by far the best reference guide for electrical questions. This is all the great information of a physical uglys with the convenience of being on your phone. The best part of this app is the search feature. Need box fill? Tupe in box fill and bam it's there. Need help in conduit bending? This app has comprehensive videos on almost every bend imaginable. Want all the changes from the 2014 to 2017 they are all here in this app. In conclusion I never will own anything other than this app. This is hands down the best money I've ever spent
So much easier looking things up on the phone then having to carry a book on you all the time. Also it's great that calculations dont have to be written and figured out all you do is input the variables!
This app is awesome. Not only does it help on the job but also in my circuits class. Great app. I do wish when I do a search the cursor would automatically pull up the keyboard. But I'm not gonna dock a star for that.
I own the book already but because of water damage and time its been ripped pretty badly downloaded the app and i love it. Although i do wish they had a simulator for motors and wiring diagrams other than that this app is great!
I was under the assumption that the app would be similar to the spiral notebook with a quick reference diagram, like the notebook. The app takes more time to find a wirefill than the old-school spiral. App needs work.
Perfect for quick reference and it's always with you. The calculations tap is above and beyond what I thought I would get with this app. It's awesome for new electricians who want to figure out how electricity works mathematically.
Needs a notes page, and some basic stuff. It would be very helpfull if it had a built in organizer for pictures and notes. Also id like to have some more info on just how to do things relevent to the trade. I frequently look for something i dont do often and am disappointed it doesnt have it
It's a start but it's incomplete. There's things that are in book and App but aren't searchable or in the directory provided. You have to search for something similar and scroll away. Even then searching doesn't work as it only matches titles and not the content. If you're not going to make your app complete I'd much rather have the book.
I'm a fan of the original quick reference books and so naturally i purchased the app. It supplies all the original information and as an added function, performs plug in computations for various formulas. The only thing missing is a better interface. It needs something to facilitate quick access to the various sections without having to look under multiple sub categories. The search function is available, but in a rush you want to have a visual cue (maybe different colors for categories).
App is great for quick references. I would give it a 5 start but in all honesty the actual book is much better. The physical book is very small fits anywhere, has much more detailed examples and much easier to locate info. I highly recommend Uglys but you definitely need the spiral book version even if you have the phone app version.
It's good. The information is there. maybe build in a few more interactive features(maybe a follow-along for some of the wiring diagrams so I can click on components to bring up further information, or a pipe bending chart with a slider bar so I could drag my finger on the bend/lengths to increase/decrease values). Maybe clean up the UI to more of a picture based list. I can find everything though, so it's good enough to stay on my phone
I have used the iglies book for years. Like the book, the app is not as good in my opinion.. not as to easy to navigate as the book! .. it would be better if you just have the book available too.. so we can flip to the page we know something is on that has tables or formulas. Doesnt that sound good?... Having the actual book access too?
I have an Ugly's spiral book and love it. It's very useful on the job, loaded with information & helpful tables for all aspects of the job. I was expecting the app to be a digital version of the spiral book. Not even close. It's extremely stripped down to the point of being nearly useless. For what's actually included, there are free apps with more information. Helpful for a first year apprentice. A bad joke for a journeyman electrician. Not at all worth the $12.99. Got the refund & uninstalled.
