It has a paywall over a lot of features I don't think should be paywalled. transposing and autoscroll requires a subscription, which is absolutely goofy. I could put up with it just fine until now, but they added video ads for the subscription that force you to watch them for like 10 seconds before you can access or leave a tab page. at this point if it persists I'm just going to delete the app, because it's slowly becoming more and more like a subscription service that just offers a free trial.
Reviews for Ultimate Guitar: Chords & Tabs
It's over 3 months and several updates later now and all my android devices keep crashing while trying to watch (or switch between) 'Shots'... whereas my devices had all previously worked flawlessly! I can't believe this is only happening to me! I had liked this app a lot... Ok... after a good six months or so, after multiple updates, this program started working properly again... on the various devices. Thanks. Not sure why it took so long, but I'm just pleased it's working again.
Ultimate guitar used to be a good service. Unfortunately, this app is pretty much unusable now with how many ads they've put in. You genuinely can't do anything in this app without it asking you to pay for pro. I don't even usually write reviews, but I'm just so tired of having to wait 3 seconds to close an ad for pro every single time I open up a song (that isn't pro!!). I'd honestly rather do the labor to figure out the chords myself.
I have had this app for several years, purchased it when it was a different name. This was a good app with reasonable customer support at that time.... Now, there is no option for support within the app itself. Also, in the past, I have been able to send a chord sheet from the app straight to my printer...now, there is no option for printing from the app. This is a huge downgrade for me and the subscription price keep going up! Other options that are FREE are better than this version!
Terrible experience. I was told to download the app after trying it online. it had zero functionality, and said I'd have to open it in the app. I downloaded the app, spent a while configuring it and answering questions, finally got to the point l started at, only to discover... zero functionality unless I buy it. I can't see if it works for me, and in this economy I can't throw away good money. please think of adding a trial period.
Every time I open the app, it shows an unskippable full-screen survey (ad) that makes me click through several screens before I can access the app. I've finally had enough. Here’s your 1-star rating. Fire whoever's idea it was. And to any musicians reading this, I highly recommend checking out the Songsterr app instead. The free version is better than the free or paid version of this.
I am honestly shocked and disappointed at what they have done. I PAID for pro. I did that to get ad-free access to tabs and chords, including premium ones. As well as premium features. and now the app constantly shows unskippable popup ads. I paid for this. I should not be given popup unskippable questionnaires when opening the app that then try to sell me something I do not want. I just want to see the chords I paid for. They even do it when switching to other apps and back
I do not want a "personalized experience" that you can't opt out of! I just want to look up a song, see the chords and get on with it! I don't want your terrible AI features pushed down my throat. I've been using Ultimate guitar for 15 years and it has gone so downhill. Do not download or pay for any of their features.
More bugs .... So last week, I contacted support because if I edit my tabs on my laptop, it wasn't populating the edits to the mobile app. I cleared cache, data, closed out, logged out/in, no good. The solution ended up being to uninstall/reinstall the app, per support. Well, again this week, still the same frickin thing. I shouldn't have to uninstall/reinstall the entire app every edit.... THE .72 VER IS NOT AVAIL IN PLAY STORE.
This is app is useful to an extent. Unless you want to pay for it monthly then you get the worst version of the song and you cant even get a good explanation on it without signing up to pay for it. I use ut and it has taught me a bit but its really only useful if you pay for it. Not great for a teenager trying to teach themselves music.
