This app empowers the Unistellar telescope which is amazing. The auto alignment is almost magical and the views are incredible. My 20" scope is not able to show what this 4.5" scope gives me, it's incredible and still being built upon! I can't wait for the API, but the most important features all work great!
Reviews for Unistellar
Does the job of controlling my eVscope reliably, on my Android phone, as does the marching IOS App for my iPad. Game changing scope that I use more than any other scope I’ve had over 50 years of this hobby. Could always do with minor improvements but I’m happy with it. Shame reviews pages attract disproportionately the people who sadly have bad experiences as opposed to so many with a good experience of the scope…
Terrible. It says it is 100x times better when it isn't. It rounds up from their calculations. Their api is still not avaliable. They refuse to make a camera adapter. "The experience we are designing is an all-in-one digital telescope, this is how we can achieve both ease of use and optical power, as of today we have no plan to turn it into a plug-in for other telescopes." Yet they require you to purchase a smartphone to use this "all in one digital" telescope. App freezes.
Takes a while to get used to it, but works ok on most androids, nevertheless still inferior to iOS. Worst is the WiFi connection that goes up and down easily. Also negative the point that we can not free up telescope memory from the app when it's the main interface with the device
Cool app, has some nice features. Would be 4 stars if it would allow you to looks ahead to the future so you could plan ahead. Would be 5 stars if it world let you see a list of all objects and list when they would be best visible in your area.
Revised: After a reinstall on my Android phone (still 1st night with new eVscope) app worked with scope, the key being the appearance of the blue telescope icon when the catalog is showing. Tap the icon and you're Wifi'd to control the eVscope. Despite near full moon and cloudy conditions, several pictures with some color were taken and saved successfully. Impressive overall.
I am owner of an evscope. I don't like DEEP DARK TECHNOLOGY (DDT) There should be a software downgrade option. I don't like AI tweaking the images. I can't be sure anymore that the final images are real. Even on their site, if you read carefully the expressions they use, their answer is ambiguous. I quote" .., it is real, we do NOT make any overlay of any preexisting images....." What about an overlay on the "captured" image?
Newest version 1.3 is superb. Works well on Apple and Android. Vastly improves on image quality at the eyepiece and final tablet images. Also many bugs are now non-existent. The eVscope is my favorite possession. Older info: App is excellent but they are working out a few intermittent bugs. The app seems to work far better on my ipad than my samsung galaxy s9. On my samsung, the target list takes a long time to load and sometimes I have to restart phone to get it to be the Operator (this is the controlling user of the scope). But even in the past month, 2 updates have added cool stuff and fixed some bugs. The eVscope itself is amazing. Do not believe the videos and haters out there. Check out Unistellar Facebook pg.
Unusable- when app doesn't crash, field detection fails (on clear nights) every time. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. (Galaxy note10) location settings not accurate either - ex: I can see the moon but app says it's not in my viewing window for another 12 or so hours! Not what I expected to get for 3k and the hype around this thing.
I bought an eQuinox. I followed the setup instructions and the app doesn't recognize the telescope, even if I tap on and connect to the telescopes local WiFi network. I guess there's a mismatch between the old telescope and the new app. Edit: I fixed my problem by downloading the older apk and using that to update my telescope to firmware 2. After that, the current version of the app was able to detect and update my scope to firmware 3.
