Too many ads. Asks for rating before you can test to see if it works. A lot of ads before I could even test to see if it works. Didn't work on my Sony TV. I couldn't properly test different settings because it floods you with ads while switching between different configurations.
Reviews for Universal TV Remote Control
← Back to Universal TV Remote ControlI really don't know if the app works or not because every tap is met with an ad and I wasn't even able to search for a compatible remote for my manufacturer without watching a video. I understand it is supported by ads but come on. This is unusable.
Unusable because of the ads, sorry. I initially didn't believe the other reviews, but oh wow -- this app is ridiculous. Have to watch an ad on literally every button click, and then a full length ad to "unlock" my TV brand. Uninstalled.
Worse than useless. Unusable. No point in it existing. Just extremely disruptive ads with occasional functionality. Want to select a type of remote? Gotta watch a video ad first. Want to change channel? Ad. Change the volume? Ad. No source button either so can't change the hdmi input. There's no way the 5 star reviews are real, some are blatantly not. To the Devs, this monetisation is ridiculously bad. Either charge for it, make ads unintrusive or keep getting 1 star reviews
Take our word for it... This app is useless, just as everybody else said, it don't work, and I've tried it on different brands of TV. It seems more and more all these lame remote apps are banking on that you are connected to the same wifi in order for their app to connect.
The app straight up just doesn't work, and there are ads every 5 seconds. Don't waste your time downloading this. Edit: I got a response from the developers, and I'd like to point out how they defend the advertisement spam, but they fail to address how their app just does not function at all. Again, please do not waste your time.
Literally tried to use this app for 10 seconds and got spammed with "rate this app" and then adverts and then you have to do like and whole bunch of videos to have "access" to the file you want. What a actual pain. You can't even navigate this app without being spammed by adds and requests.
i spend about 30 minutes on the app trying to get a connection to my Philips TV but no luck, didn't connect and wasn't working. Part os the reason for my low rating is also that within those 30 minutes I spen trying to configure things, im pretty sure I was shown at least 25 ads. POS app with no utility
An ad every few seconds, even if it works perfectly that's a horrid way to design an app. BTW, I picked a Sony TV and it wanted me to click a power button upto 287 till one of them responds. However, every 5 attempts or so an ad pops up. After writing this review I'm uninstalling this app since I literally view about 7 ADS in about 1 min!!
Downloaded app and upon opening app to set up I got an ad. No problem usually. However, when I did not provide my personal information to this ad to visit Wisconsin, it wad as far as the app let me go. I did NOT get a chance to set it up or use it. Highly disappointed.
Installed and tried to use it. Click one: Add pops up. Click two: Add pops up. You can see where this is going! There are free apps with adds. Then there are apps that are just adds. This is the latter. DO NOT install this! I have no idea why it's rating is 3.9 stars!
Deleting after 2 minutes of using the app. Watch an ad immediately aftet downloading, and then watch an ad to "download source files for your TVs brand" which you dont actually download anything from what I noticed. You then click a power button and see if it works, and try the next if not. This would be fine, if there wasnt 60+ to go through, and I hadnt received two MORE ads before cycling through ten attempts. 4 ads watched before the app is even set up, I can only imagine it gets worse.
Asked me to rate before I've even been able to use it. Rated it 3 stars. Tried to use it, and had to watch 4 ads but couldn't make it work. Yes I get that, I just think that the number was extremely high and I couldn't make it work, so having to sit through ads so I can try another button is infuriating. Up to you how many you do.
I downloaded it without reading reviews. Sometimes that's a good thing. This was not one of those times. As a person that has worked on various types of technology for over twenty years, I have to agree that this is just too complicated. I can figure it out. That's not the point. It should be easier and with less ads. When you're working through a convoluded setup process, the last thing you need are ads to make the process more difficult.
I do see that there is an IR function to the second app that I was redirected to after installing the first app. I have not used the IR option yet, but Im going to right now and if it doesn't work I will edit my rating.
Don't waste your time. Hit with an ad when I first opened it. Hit with 2 more while trying to navigate setup. Then forced to watch a video to load the codes for my TV. After all that, it didn't work. A button popped up asking if it worked or not an when I clicked no, nothing happened. 10 minutes of my life I can't get back!
Okay this app really really sucks. I'm pretty sure you don't have to watch an ad every time you pick up your real remote so tell me why there's an ad after everything. I pressed the search bar, AD. Want to connect to your tv? At LEAST 4 ads. 100% not worth your time unless you want to help them make money for fun because all you will do is watch ads.
Sorry have to agree with a majority of 1 stars on here. This remote simply just doesn't work. It says to watch an ad to unlock your devices brand as soon as you do it still doesn't work. Both devices are connected to the wifi and my wifi is working. This app just doesn't work I uninstalled literally after 5 minutes of trying to get it to work. Not worth it!!!
I don't write bad reviews often but I feel that this app deserves it. Every other time I would push a button in the app I'd be hit with a add. Then I went through 102 channel to find the right frequency for my TV and not a single one worked. If you're looking for a frustrating way to waste you time then use this app otherwise stay clear.
Doesn't work at all for Samsung TVs. Worthless app. The ads work though if you're a fan of captive audience marketing. Oh yeah, and register with an email just for a universal remote control app?! Judging by the amount of ads I've seen before I even got to use it, that's a hard pass. Zero stars should be an option so you can get an accurate assessment of this 💩 app.
